  • I love Sigourney Weaver's WTF face when the cameraman is showing her clapping at 2:23 and then she starts clapping all excitedly. She has nothing to do with Dianne Wiest! LMAO.

  • Jennifer Tilly was robbed. Such a brilliant performance. Such an underrated actress.

  • Good :D year for Uma, she should win one someday, some great loves out there still aren't awarded.

  • Once you see Bullets Over Broadway you will understand the range of which Dianne Wiest is capable. She was very believable and captivating as Helen Sinclair and is fully deserving of this award.

  • I hate Tommy Lee Jones with every fiber of my body.

  • Uma is incredible in Pulp. Just look at her eyes in the Jack Rabbit Slims scene when she talks to Travolta. Pure magic. A real actress.

  • Great, great hilarious, yet subtle, performance. Rarely has an Oscar been awarded so deservedly.

  • she was soooo good in Bullets over Broadway! "hush don't speak don't speak" lol remember that one?

  • Nothing against Dianne Weist or any other of the actresses nominated that year, but I find it a shame that Uma hasn't had much of a look in when it comes to the Oscars, especially as she is, in my opinion, one of the best actresses of that have come attention within the last, say, twenty years

  • @RGFoster1 Uma Thurman is not that great. She just got some cool parts in Quentin Tarantino films, but acting-wise so many people can act circles around her.

  • @Tigerlily21 i can see what you mean but I think she's very good. she's one of the few Hollywood actresses from the era of early 90s til now with actual talent, there are too many actresses these days who have no talent and put their own self-indulgent glamour before a role. Uma really comitted herself to her role in KillBill, not many actresses these days would have put themselves through the training that she did

  • Yeah belonged to Jennifer Tilly

  • a stron year for that ccategory

  • No matter how people can talk, we love you MIA Wallace and we think that you the Trophy of the OSCAR too.

  • ( . ) ( . )

  • Dianne Wiest is wonderfull in Bullets over Broadway, but she's not better than Jennifer Tilly and Uma Thurman.

  • @deanriam fuck you.

  • Jennifer Tilly should have won!!!!!!!

  • @JRgirl1 Um first off I think Uma should have won and I looked at her PERFORMANCE not the movie she was in. She was amazing as Mia Wallace so while your busy assuming that Me or anybody else wanted her to win instead of Weist beacause of the movie she was in is ridiculously stupid.

  • LOVE THIS OLD BETCH!

  • I think the person worthy of the Oscar that year was either Dianne Wiest or Jennifer Tilly. They both gave AMAZING performances. Although I prefer Tilly I'm glad Wiest won. For those who think Uma should have won, you obviously weren't looking at her performance but the movie she was in, the performance was good just not up to the standardsof Wiest or Tilly.

  • Jennifer Tilly is adorable

  • Uma should have won but still diane was a very worthy winner she was such a riot

  • It is so rare that the most deserving nominee actually wins the Oscar. Well, this year they got it right. Dianne Wiest's performance in Bullets Over Broadway is one of the greatest comedic performances of all time.

  • UMA UMA UMA but i love u Diane

  • @dog321cat i agree

  • No Doubt...the HOOK line '"Don't Speak" made a BIG impression !! What an amazing artist Ms. Wiest is!

  • Dianne Wiest totally deserved this. One of the best performances of all times, no ifs, ands or buts.

  • She deserved it...A LOT.

  • BoB is underrated!

  • I live weist and tilly but uma Thurman should have won

  • gotta GOTTA love Dianne Wiest

  • those who keep saying that Uma Thurman should've won obviously haven't seen Bullets Over Broadway. Dianne Wiest was phenomenal, get over it! And while you're at it, watch the other films of Dianne Wiest to see a clearer picture why she won over Uma.

  • All three women in Bullets Over Broadway -- Dianne, Tracey, and Jennifer -- were brilliant, and hilarious. But I have to agree that Dianne deserved it. Her character in Bullets was the polar opposite of everything she had done in the past, and the "Don't Speak" segments had me rolling on the floor. It's a tough toss-up, but I have to give it to Dianne.

  • Kate winslet should have been nominated for Heavenly Creatures that year and she should have won.

  • Tracy Ullman was also hilarious in Bullets Over Broadway.

  • Uma Thurman should have won

  • Jennifer Tilly should have won! She was brilliant!

  • what is helen miren wearing

  • uma thurman *rolls eyes

  • One of the rare instances of the Oscar going to the right person!

"Pulp Fiction" was the best movie nominated in this category, but Dianne Wiest gave the best PERFORMANCE of the group, and to those people who cannot distinguish between the performance and the movie that contains it, all I can say is...

    "Please DON'T SPEAK"! LOL

  • Uma should've won. Queen of Cool.

  • Uh, no. Dianne was BRILLIANT.

Being "cool" doesn't mean you deserve an Oscar.

  • Wow... Dianne Wiest deserve it, but the other nominees were wonderful!

  • don't speak......! and she did.. I LOVE this movie!

  • The presenter is Tommy lee Jones

  • Who is the presenter?

  • UMA!!! UMA!!! UMA!!!

    MAjor Upset!!!!

  • Soooo deserved!!!I love this movie!!!And all the actors in it are acting deliciously.

  • Uma Thrurman got the biggest cheer.

  • just because she was in Pulp Fiction. the audience just likes to cheer the coolest film.

  • To see all the Supporting performances, go to my channel!!

  • ok i will babe! :)

  • I love Dianne! She's amazing and one of the great rare actress's that have ever been in a film.

  • miluju jak Taylor hladí Helen ....je to prostě překrásné....něco jako neboj se miláčku ty to vyhraješ příště

  • To see all the Supporting Performances go to my channel!!

  • Short sweet and classy, the way all acceptance speeches should be

  • I love Dianne Wiest - she seems like such a kind soul. Beautiful lady.

  • an excellent performance. One of the best wins ever! Those who say otherwise haven't seen it!

  • cuuuuuute

  • Dianne is SO irrepressibly loveable - she just exudes warmth, positivity and you can tell she's absolutely loving life and making the most of the wonderful opportunities she's been given :) Such humility and endearing warmth is rare in Hollywood!

  • this year's competition was very intense

  • woo. hi andi mcdumbdowell.

  • I respectfully disagree. Mirren is one of my favorite female actors and I love everything she has done. This was rightfully Wiest's. It is one of the best supporting performances of any year. Mirren should have two oscars though. Besides winning for The Queen, she also should have won in 2002 for Gosford Park. I also feel strongly that Mirren should have been nominated in 2004 for The Clearing.

  • Good point. I thought she was great in all the movies you mentioned. She was kinda good in The Clearing.

  • You are so right. She should have won for her heartbreaking turn in Gosford Park.

  • Underrated? You should seriously look up the definition of that word if you think Helen Mirren is underrated.

  • Helen was underrated now she''s everywhere but in the early 90's she couldn't get a good role. She is very talented but everyone just recently discovered how great she really is. She has been acting for over 40 years and she just won a oscar. In my opinion she was underrated.

  • You weren't speaking in past tense when you said she was underrated, in the early 90's, yes she was, right now? Hell no.

  • the best supporting actress of our generation, she should have got more lead role in major festival movies!

  • One of these celebrities SHOULD have mentioned the 100 Day RWANDAN GENOCIDE from April 1994

    SHAME ON THIS COUNTRY

  • I love this woman.

  • Dianne Wiest is wonderful and deserved the Oscar. She transformed into a character so completely unlike herself and was hilarious. And she was so beautiful in the movie. That shot of her in the park on the bench with Cusack. Now that's beauty!

I don't think Helen Mirren was so very well-known then. She had done a few arty films and "White Nights", but nothing to alert Hollywood at the time. Luckily we caught onto her talent.

  • @EDH1712 She was but not for films. She had a bunch of Emmy's for Prime Suspect

  • she was so damn hilarious in this

  • Dianne Wiest is brilliant!

  • Jennifer definately should have WON!!! She was histerical in bullets over broadway! Most underated actress in hollywood!

  • I LOUDLY AGREE!!!!

  • THANK YOU!

  • Couldn't agree more, Jennifer or Uma should have won!

  • On a second thought,i think Uma should have won for PULP FICTION.Watched it again:she was amazing!!!

  • Uma was excellent in Pulp Fiction, and either her or Jennifer Tilly deserved to win. Uma's last scene with Travolta is fantastic.

  • I agree; her character had so many layers and she showed them all. At least she got nominated, and let's face it, only one person can walk away with the Oscar.

  • lol @ the logic in these comments, "Uma Thurman should've won because Diane Wiest already has one".

Seriously shut the fuck up, Diane Wiest is a great actress, who's better than Uma Thurman in EVERY WAY, she deserved this over all of the other nominees.

  • @deanriam Diane Wiest may have deserved the oscar but she is not better than Uma Thurman in every single way. What a rude an ignorant comment.

  • @TheRocknRollfreak Oh get off it, as an actress, Uma Thurman can't touch Dianne Wiest. Uma can't even make a good film unless Tarantino's involved, try to argue otherwise.

  • @deanriam I'm not against that Dianne has won, but in the movie Dangerous Liasions Uma did an excellent role and had nothing to do with Tarantino

  • @TheRocknRollfreak actually, you are wrong. there have been numerous studies conducted, proving that dianne wiest is, in fact, better than uma thurman in every single way. sorry.

  • @redsonjaiscoming Wow good comment dipshit. Dianne Wiest is an incredible actress, but most of the idiots on here can't appreciate the talent thats all around. Uma Thurman is very talented and she should be recognized for it. But people like you who don't know anything about acting and making movies wouldn't get it.

  • @TheRocknRollfreak wow. who hurt you? how can you make a generalization like that? i know nothing about film because i think wiest is the superior actor? first, i never once said that uma wasn't talented. secondly, if anything, your juvenile response indicates that you, in fact, don't get it. put down that copy of "my super ex girlfriend" and try to find me a bad - even mediocre - wiest performance. i promise you, for every one you find, i'll send back THREE of thurman's. take it easy, champ.

  • @deanriam fuck you.

  • @deanriam Lol I bet 99% of these Pulp Fiction fantards haven't even SEEN Bullets over Broadway.

  • I really should see BoB (and Tom & Viv). Tilly and Wiest both look phenomanel.

I'm also sure that Wiest did deserve her Oscar, but I'm on the "Uma should have won" camp. Not because I'm a total Pulp Fiction junkie, but because there were such small tics and nuances Uma brought to Mia that made her an incredibly fascinating (and ultimately tragic and pathetic) character. Mirren was great, too, but weak when compared to Hawthorne.

  • DIANE WIEST deserved it. With that voice, the grim expressions and elite mannerisms, I did not even recognize her at first in those clothes.

But what about Uma? She stayed classy, I give you that, but that's not enough to top off Diane Wiest's performance.

  • ME TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sigourney Weaver nearly shit herself lol.

  • she really did.

  • Helen Mirren(the madness of king george) and Rosemary Harris(tom&viv) were also fabulous.Anyway, bravo Dianne.

ps:Uma was great but oscar worthy?Nope. She should have received an oscar nod for KILL BILL,though.

  • You know Helen made up for this when she won in 2007. She was by far the best! So it was worth waiting Helen! I know you are the best, it was just a matter of time for others to see it as well.

  • Great actress, deserved both of her Academy Awards.. substance over style.

  • I know we love Pulp Fiction but Uma Thurman is not the greatest actress she just had a couple cool roles and that's why she's liked. I loved her dress that year!

  • I think Jennifer was the best. She made me laugh so hard in bullets over broadway! But Whatever.

  • people loved tilly

  • Why didn't anyone clap for Helen??????????

  • Comment removed

  • Uma Thurman should have won!

  • No she shouldn't have.

Pulp Fiction is my all time fave movie but there was only one performance worthy of an Oscar and that was Sam Jackson. The rest are great, but not Oscar worthy

  • Martin Landau deserved his win over Sam Jackson!

  • Good speech.

  • Diane Wiest is so lucky to have won twice! ALso, doesn't Helen Mirren look nice!

  • but she lost, and the best (Dianne Wiest) won jajaja jejeje.

  • Uma Thurman is the best actress!!!

  • yeahh Uma Thurman is the best !!!

  • She's totally unconvincing in most roles

  • Dianne Weist was brilliant in this movie. She was an Acting/Comedy God. A well-deserved win.

  • i think uma thurman should have win this year

  • that was a rare year. Tom Hanks won his second consecutive Oscar, and Dianne Wiest and Jessica Lange won their second awards as well.

  • I will never forget how it seemed like no one wanted to clap for Helen Mirren! LOL

  • I know it was like she was the gothic gay kid in high school that no one liked.

  • she was SO DAMN HILARIOUS in this

  • Kirsten Dunst deserved a nomination that year (for Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles) in the place of Jennifer Tilly.

  • I agree totally, Kirsten Dunst should have been nominated her performance was unbelievable but I have to say Jennifer Tilly's was great too!

  • Why the fuck didn't she get an award for Edward Scissorhands and Little Man Tate?

  • you're 100% right. but she deserved this one as well

  • Edward was nominated only for best make up.

  • She sould've been nominated for Little Man Tate, you're right.

  • perfect scene to have chosen for dianne. "don't speak" is a classic line.

  • totally deserved oscar!!!

  • I love this woman

  • The probabilities were the next:

    Dianne Wiest 5/5

    Helen Mirren 4/5

    Uma Thurman 3/5

    Rosemary Harris 2/5

    Jennifer Tilly 1/5

  • Good job dianne!!

  • yo recuerdo esa noche fue fantastica ,Uma era una de las favoritas, pero difinitivamente Dianne Wiest fue superior.

    SHE WAS SUPERIOR,CONGRATULATIONS DIANNE WIEST.

  • hey, do you have martin landau oscar win from that same year?

  • Martin landaus oscar win is posted on youtube.

Search under "anna paquin age of 12(1995)

she's presenting the award to martin.

  • It's not there anymore

  • one of the most well deserved oscars ever...

  • Dianne Wiest's performance in Bullets Over Broadway is one of my favorite performances of all time.

  • Thanks.
