The universe is a fractal, surely? Look at subatomic structures, for instance, and broccoli! Ferns, pollen grains, eye retinas, and snowflakes, all suggest that the universe, on the largest scales, must be fractal in structure, which means that some where there is a copy of earth, maybe the cosmos itself is a fractal, not the universe, and there are thousands of universes on different scales, all the same in ratios of distance, but not in time or continua? Food for thought, eh?

Aaargg... Is there any sort of tutorials or guides to this software?
I was really blown away by the quality of this, but upon downloading it myself and having a read of the user manual, I am finding it incredibly hard/ nigh on impossible to even use the software, and animating is pretty much frustratingly impossible for me.
I'm not a computer / techno expert, just a casual user and this whole Mandelbulber program is really way over my head.
Thanks a lot for this great video and the mandelbulber. I have started developing of fractal rendering programs myself and thought maybe i can learn something from the sources. Is there any development documentation of the mandelbulber sources to get into them?
btw: what happens @ 1:21 - 1:27 in the upper right corner? Are those little rendering errors or parts of the formula? Someone knows?
@d0lphchrist, Few days ago I have created SVN repository for Mandelbulber. There will be full documentation of source code. code.google.com/p/mandelbulber/
In this corner there is visible overstepping problem (too high values of estimated distance to the fractal surface)
Mandelbulb to dla mnie jedno z najbardziej fascynujacych odkryc matematycznych! Mam nadzieje, ze pewnego dnia jakis producent SciFi uzyje tych ornamentow w (miejmy nadzieje dobrym) filmie i zbijesz krocie!
Absolutely stunning. :-) I've been spending today starting to explore and render snapshots of the 3D fractal space of mandlebulbs & mandelboxes, so it's extra exciting to me to see how cool animated stuff looks! I haven't learned that part of the software, yet. But I'll be looking into it soon! :-D
These Mandelbulb's are incredible. I am curious, what software did you use to make this, is it available freely or commercially? I have a few so called 3D fractal animators, but they cannot do anything this detailed or spectacular.
Holy alien worlds, Batman. :) That is truly spectacular in design and beauty. Wow. Like the Tglad's Mandelbox fly-thru, I've never seen a Mandelbulb before. Extremely alien in layout.
That is one of the most amazing things I've seen, especially from a generated graphics standpoint. Can this stuff be rendered on the GPU? I think they are supposed to be good for this sort of thing, I'm no expert though.
fuck, well i see something so real like this (real in the fact that the animation are very well maked), i feel two things: first, admiration because the beautiful work. after that good feeling, im feeling something bad. because the animations that the human will bring in a few years will be so real that reality will be delete. i mean, think about 2050, about 2100, about 2909, about 3689, 4890, 6879 years in the future. all will be synthetic... is scary, for me. good bye nature and all
Very very nice video. I'm trying to make a GPU tracer to make animation like that with mandelbulb, and i'm very impressed by the quality of your vidz. It gibe me inspiration.
@xlace, i would like to render my own mandelbulbs, or just create any kind of 3D fractal. I currently use 3d studio max professionally, which software can i create these in? is the geometry held all at once or is the detail level recalculated based on distance from the camera? any guidance/good website about the basics muchly appreciated.

possible to fly through at a faster rate?
If having FPS issues maybe use a gpu with a large memory bandwidth maybe GTX 580 or GTX 285 in SLI
would be interesting to see a more comprehensive tour
