this is way old tech they have had tablet pcs forever. its basicaly apple putting there logo on some thing that came out in 2001 by Microsoft ( tablet pcs are like laptops with a swivel touch screen ) (ipads are like really big ipod touches so you cant really do much with them)

Apple made three mistakes:

1. Locked up from people making viable applications by third party individual programmers who don't wish to pay Apple for the privilege of programming for it.

2. Other companies forbidden from making hardware for Apple products.

3. The item goes haywire if you try to tweak it any way (I.E. try to make the iPhone use other carriers other than AT&T or trying to install another OS on the iPod). And don't get me started on battery life...

This would be exactly why I'm having trouble taking Apple serious.. It has become such a raging fad. Honestly, I get that iPad a fun gadget to play around with, but the attention it gets is absolutely ridicules.

With exception of the apps, it's exactly the same as a tablet laptop. Except that the tablet laptop comes with proper attached keyboard, and might be a little heavier.

Seeing how easily some people are tricked into spending their money makes me loose hope in humanity sometimes.

K, here's my theory.

Apple got their hooks into publishing and editing a long time ago (ironically largely due to Adobe's software) and that association got producers and others in the media favoring their products in their programing. The result is that you're now much more likely to see an Apple device over a competing product being that those in the media know and like what they put out. So the one segment of business that Apple taken over has become their greatest asset: free advertising.

iPad came out on my birthday as well, but instead of thinking God and Steve Jobs got together to make me happy, I think they did it to piss me off with this oversized iPod Touch. I LOVE my iPod Touch, and Apple, but the iPad is pure stupidity. Not because it sucks, but because of how far Apple decided to put it ahead, when it's really just a big iPod.
