I was searching for hoplology on youtube, and I really don't mean to sound insulting or anything,
but Jesus H. Christ, the use of bayonets, knives and defense against armed assailants used in this video are really primitive and will get you killed.
It wouldn't hurt to integrate Filipino martial arts (Kali/Arnis/Eskrima) into your curriculum and there are plenty enough systems in the U.S. your instructors can get training and certification in.
Perhaps your perspective is skewed by practicing popular modern systems. While modern Arnis/Eskrima/Kali can provide some insights, more traditional Filipino systems are quite different than the modern popularized versions of these systems. In hoplology we need to look beyond the superficiality of what merely catches the eye—that is, techniques—to gain a better perspective of behavioral components. @BattleHand I concur with your opinion. Modern training assumes both involved have a defensive mindset and approach to combat. Very little training is dedicated to dealing with an attacker who has full physical and psychological comittment to kill from initial contact.
