I don't think there is anything wrong with being a housewife. But you should be allowed to do other things other then secretaries and nurse's. Women can and should be surgions and CEO'S. Women were payed less and were given the lesser grunt work that men didn't want so what did they do? They gave it to women. Well they said nay and fought back. And I'm glad they did because if I was forced to be a housewife I would not be a happy camper! >:(

Im so sick of the ever so present gender roles still imposed on women from the minute we exit the birth canal. The colors, clothes, toys, commercials, movies(disney) and so on, situate a women into a specific role. A role as wife/mother/caretaker and if you dont get married/bear children you should feel abnormal, incomplete, useless. Bulls&*t! Thats why I truly appreciate women like Betty, Emma Goldman, Alexandra Kollantai, and so many more for their ability to understand human equality!

Socially encouraged norms/gender roles created issues within a women's definition of true happiness. Friedan was needed long before her time. Amazing reading and I am greatful for her contribution. Thank you for posting this video. Autonomous and determined women like Betty paved the way for the women of today and many dont realize the obstacles it took to get here. We are still fighting for equality! Every woman should be inspired by Betty.
