  • wow, what shit hardware.

  • leave it for six hours,I'm gonna come back in thirty minute and put back together, then says It's six hours later?

  • Thanks man

  • Is it just me or is that motherboard warping like crazy?

  • For all of you asking, i did it with a hair dryer and it worked fine. But as it gives less heat it took me about 15-20 mins of heating

  • will this work with a blow dryer?

  • do you have to use a tork screwdriver?

  • yeah it's good to keep motherboard on something that conducts electricity..

  • 3 rings mean over heated so if u let it cool down it would be fine and 4 rings means dead

  • @felixreyes223 4 rings means that you dont have you a/v cable in

  • @felixreyes223 That's not at all what it means. 3 red lights usually means cold solder under the GPU, but it depends on the error code. 4 red lights mean the AV cable is broken or it's just not plugged in right. 2 red lights mean the console is overheated.

  • should we remove the thermal paste residue or does it matter?

  • Comment removed

  • A hair dryer will not reach 500 degrees unlike a heat gun on low

  • Would I be able to use a hair dryer?

  • Xbox had the red rings, playstation had the whole server being hacked thing, the point is that nothing is fucking perfect, and people can choose whatever the fuck they want, so why argue about it?

  • can i use a hairdryer

  • why u need a heatgun

  • dude did he say 6 hours?...Dam that must of been hot...lol

  • I have a question, what would happen if i forgot to conect my dvd drive before i powered up?

  • can i use a hairdryer

  • Can i use a hairdryer?

  • a lot of ppl think the thermal past isn't important, its a crucial part of this method

  • I still have red lights :/

    What do I do

  • How long does the Xbox last with this method oposed to changing out the screws and all that?

  • can tell me how to fix this when i run my xbox 360 i get the 3 ring of death my fans dont turn on dont know what to do. plz reply

  • so i heat it with the heat gun but it dosnt get the mother bored hot! and i get hella close!

  • Oct.21/2011

Heat Gun on high and low 4 min each side

cool for 20 min. Applied Thermal Paste.

Xbox back in ACTION after sitting for almost 1 year!

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

  • @82N8 Is it still working?

  • whats a heat gun? blow dryer?

  • @BulletProof408 yup lol

  • thats a good way of exploding those caps, if anyone does this method, which is a good method, be very careful not to leave the heatgun on/near those capacitors too long, in fact it easy enough to desolder them off that i would suggest that u do that then just solder them back in when done. Trust me depending on how hot the heat gun is they go POP pretty quickly.

  • @GiggleHz exactly what I was thinking

  • thats right, melt the solder on one side and then instantly flip it lmfao loser

  • do u have to use the thermal paste

  • ok............. so whats the point of writing anything if your not going to show a complete video with step by step

  • is it just one and three or is there no fucking way to fix 2 red rings ?

  • This guide is an easy way to destroy your 360.

Firstly the board is unsecure which is more likely to make your 360 motherboard warp. Also the board is not supposed to be moved when it is that hot because it will disrupt the now melted solder.

Secondly you'll destroy several components if you heatgun the entire board, such as getting a blown capacitor or several. As soon as this happens you'll probably get an 0002 error which is much harder to fix than a normal 3 red ring error.

  • so is it 6 hours or 30 minutes, that we have to wait??????

  • GUYS!

You should test this! bladder in the xbox! i got this problem and its worked for me! test it :)

  • do you have to replace the xclaps or can you still put them back

  • THIS DOES WORK, i didnt use a heat gun however i used the fan on cpu only trick and i shit you not it worked. This wasnt till after i threw it in the dumpster and went in after it (caused i watched this video). I dont know why or how this works. as a PC builder i just assumed heat = bad but it worked like a charm. I have a free working xbox that was showing red rings 1,3,4 with error code 0102. Thanks a bunch! Ones man trash is another mans working xbox WOOT!!!!! 10min on and 20 off and bam!

  • will a blow dryer work?

  • @dino3d46 no, not at all. Go to amazon and pay 20 bucks for a heatgun

  • Damn.. it did work.. nice! thanks man!

  • This guy is Legit, I use his tutorials for xbox repairs I do. however I am still confused by the statement "let it sit for 6 hours... Ill be back in 30 min to see if it works" lol

  • couldnt he just write p75 on another xbox?

  • @Xbox360modderzZ trolls would prob scour to prove him wrong

  • LOl sounds like tyler the creator

  • This repair kills more than it repairs do not do it learn the truth on the HGC

  • @HGCGamersClub you're a spammy fuck

  • Learn the truth about Red light repairs on your Xbox! and learn how I plan on Giving away over $1,000,000.00 in Cash and prizes!!! And then I will be telling everyone a nasty little secrets that Microsoft purposely withheld from the public! That reduced your game systems life by as much as 75%! And how sonny the makers of the PS3 are guilty of the same thing.

  • heat gun lol more like hair dryer

  • when the lights blink turn off your xbox and disconnect everything.Get the main wire unplugged, video cables, router, and hardrive aside and wait around 20 mins and put it back and it should work lol its happend to me 7 times on the same xbox and it still works.Good luck hope it works

  • thanks bub dont u think XboxSlave is racist? and hes black

  • I am a electronic tech and I can tell you this is very risky using a heat gun to melt the solder on surface mount components if you don't know what your are doing you can cause a lot of damage. we use a heat gun made for removing certain surface mount components, but a bad solder joint on one of these is unlikely the real fix is getting rid of those X clamps polishing the cpu and gpu and using plastic spacers on the screws screw down the heat sink to mate with gpu make sure light on therm paste

  • can i use a hair dryer?

  • @9KCTCM solder does not melt at 700 farenhiet ... it melts at 460 farenhiet and a avrage heat gun is iver 500 farenhiet so get ur facts right and fyi it works

  • Wouldn't the heat gun melt the surrounding area?

  • its funny because he wrote 2 p75 and he only showed 1 at the end

  • @TheMondi410 hey maybe if you would pay attention the first p75 was on yhe disc drive, witch he did not put back in.....

  • sorry to be a douche but it's pronounced 'sha-see' not 'cha-sis'

  • the camera turns red

  • yeah

  • omg did you see the mobo flex at around 2:19 ?

  • yeah right dude you swap it..

  • redbox has tobe left to us the pro

  • I already have thermal paste from when I upgraded my processor in my PC. Will that work or is Xbox really picky about it? It shouldn't matter, but I just wanna make sure.

  • @kungfuman2001 thermal paste is thermal paste

  • you never said what the screws and washers are for

  • what can i use as a heat gun???

  • Can I use the white arctic silver thermal compound for this fix

  • This fixed worked for me for about 6 months but now when I do this fix, it only works for a week to 2 weeks if I'm lucky, anybody have suggestions? I'm considering just buying a slim Xbox if I can't find a solution

  • it worked than for the vid!!

  • nice upload!:) thanks mate....keep up the good work

  • Um... What temperature are you heat gunning at? C'mon bro and you're not even grounded.

  • so by heat gun you mean blow drier

  • @DarthJack13 if youre being sarcastic thats a good one :) but if not, he actually means heat gun. you can get them at a construction/materials/lumber yard store. my dad and i use heat gun for all sorts of things mostly for windows and to remove stickers or anything gooey or putty-like. and beware, they get very very very hot compared to a blow dryer, i would recommend using it on low speed, not sure what speed the fellow in the vid has his on but id def recommend low. you can melt stuff quickly!

  • does it fix 4 ever or it breaks again

  • why is the green power light blinking after you turned it on again and it worked?

  • look 0:49 red screen :P

  • What is the purpose of heating the motherboard with the heat gun? To completely clean it?

  • @georgejd just a logical guess, its probably similar to soldering something without actually having to break out the solder gun and fix each individual component on the motherboard which would take forever. being that the xbox is more than likely built by a machine which does it much faster than a human could, a heat gun makes sense to me as far as making the process easier and saving time.

  • omg i get it now xbox slave cause hes black thumbs up if you just realized this after reading my comment

  • lol... no more red lights but this 360 just threw up a secdata flag since he turned it on with no DVD drive attached.

  • ye i think i might try that today and see ...thanks

  • Is it very important that I use thermal compound or does it work without? Never done this before so I don't got a clue. By the way, really thanks for the help on how to fix the rings of death. Much appreciated I must say!

  • @EckeVonDinho if its anything similar to building a desktop pc which it is, then id say its absolutely imperative. alot of times you will have video cards and cpus over heat after time if you dont come back in and re do the thermal compound. it gets hot and over time it can thin out or harden. so yea as a good precautionary measure i would highly recommend NOT skipping that step :)

  • @EckeVonDinho also i might add that this could be one of the very reasons xbox's were failing to begin with. im not sure on that so dont quote me, but it seems very plausible to me that it could be a culprit. from what little i researched when i had my first 360, it was a fan issue or something causing the overheating BUT, adding alot more thermal compound could definetly add more life to the system before it gives out again. OR, if it really is because of bad airflow, leave the cover off once

  • @EckeVonDinho you get if fixed. thats what i intend on doing this time with this unit. my friend got an elite and gave me his old one so whatever happens to it im not too concerned. and just by chance i got one of the old ones when they started supporting USB cables :) so i saved myself 20 bucks on not having to buy the component hd hookup wires :)

  • @EckeVonDinho lol i mean HDMI cable lawl. lastly, if you do decide to take the cover off id recommend buying a small fan that hooks up to a wall socket and aim it down on the 360 just to be sure overheating never becomes an issue again. i got one at walmart for 5 bucks.

  • well on the underside of the board thats ok. but on the top u only want to focus on the gpu and 4 minutes is way too long. do about 25-30 seconds over the gpu only

  • *insert racist comment here*

  • always another way we can fix 3RROD by using hot oven... bake them about 200 celcius and at about 10 minute.. do try gogle about this...

  • i do this all the time . NO need for 6 hour waiting . give it only about 15 minutes to a half hour. and vuala all done. anyways good video :)

  • wat if yo shit is hacked???

  • i did this and my xbox works but it keeps freezing after 10 to 20 minutes... how do i fix this???? HELP PLEASE

  • @vipulpatel28 because i think it is a power brick error not the console

  • @Adycool7600 nvm i got the 3 red rings again and its not the power brick

  • I have fixed two xbox with this method. If you have two red lights after fix secure at your x-climps are enough tight. Thanks for tip!

  • i have a 360 of the first model (the white one that's not an elite) would this guide work?

  • huh dint work for me?

  • @BabyLorV ye fuck y :D

  • will a hair dryer work

  • ok but I'll try those for my xbox 360 elite if they work I will play it every day and have fun

  • i have tried this method 3 times with 3 different 3 red ringed xboxes and each works for 1 min then my screen freezes n goes right back to 3 red rings. Also the video goes out and crackles on main xbox screen now on all 3. WTF?

  • @MegaHegira because you didn't fix it properly.

  • how can you screw up heating up a board? I did it right all 3 times and brought the wagner 1000 watt gun back and sold them for parts :(

  • anyone know the details of the screw set that is sold on their website?

  • i still got rrod :(

  • Is it just me or do red lights keep covering the screen on this youtube vid ?

  • @bobbymanrules no dude you are fucking crazy, those red lights are getting in your head!!!! heat gun your skull!!!

  • @MisterInnovation no it is true somethimes the screen gets red for 0,5seconds

  • @MisterInnovation dude red lights are covouring the screen sorry for my english

  • @MisterInnovation dude red lights are covouring the screen sorry for my english for proof pause at 3:29

  • @MisterInnovation dude red lights are covouring the screen sorry for my english for proof pause at 3:19

  • @bobbymanrules yea i know its bothering me

  • @bobbymanrules no the screen gets red randomly for 0.500 miliseconds you are right

  • yeah, i noticed that

  • im fixing mine right now hopefully i didnt mess up

  • you could have just swapped another xbox that is fixed for the broken 1 and still say you didnt swap it by writing p 75 again on the fixed. but we trust you man its all good. thanks and your guide is one of the best out there.

  • thank's i fixed both of my 360's

  • what setting do u put the heat gun high or low?

  • screw the screws only just over finger tight guys the gpu and cpu to your heatsinks, if your from the uk go to maplins get Antec Formula 5 silver compound for £!0, dont buy shit paste it wont work!, keep trying and goodluck i haver Justus fix my mates xbox, if any1 needs any tips ask me :)

  • is this permanent?

  • How hot does the heatgun need to be?

  • @aidyb92 fuckin hot

  • I got 3 rings, what happened to me was when i was playing my electricity went out for about 1 sec and my xbox came on again with 3 red lights. So i just ran to the Xbox and turned it off. When i turned it on later it was green as usuall, but nothing came up on the screen. I could turn the xbox off with the controller and it worked as usuall. My screen still doesnt work with the xbox. please help me. It works with TV and everything else.

  • same exact concept as GPU baking. i dont use consoles tho :D

  • His technique is awful no antistatic wrist band I wouldn’t use heat gun to reflow a motherboard if I was too I would definitely would not leave the board unsecured should be properly restrained so the board does not warp you can cause way more damage doing this technique with his method thermal paste should not touch the sides should only sit on top of the CPU if its metal based it could fry your board using this method he is an amateur if you’re going to try this find out how to do it properly

  • would it work with a hair dryer?

  • @iimdudits07 nope ist not hot enough

  • lol! you just threw out the deffect disc drive! what a nOOb!

  • where can i get a heat gun??

  • what temperature does your heat gun get up to?

  • @fiestaboy00 the 4431 you said to have, it's actually 0031 and it's from the DVD drive, its short circuiting!

  • Worked perfectly. Ordered an X-Clamp replacement kit off eBay. Took it all apart, replaced the X-Clamp with screws and nylon washers, added new thermal paste. Put it back together and it works perfectly! Cant believe I was actually thinking about buying a new Xbox because of the RROD.All this cost me was £7!!!

  • it wont last long mate ur be lucky 2 get a month out of it the RROD kit isent the best thing the red lights will be back.

  • a 360 got ROD last summer and when I turned it on yesterday it worked fine...until I turned it off again.

  • I have tried every red ring of death repair option available on youtube. so i know that this xbox cannot be repaired if i replace the xbox 360 motherboard with a new fully working xbox 360 motherboard will that fix it?

  • @HaloKing385 yeah, but you might as well just buy a new console, and keep your old hard drive.

  • He said let it sit for 6 hours, but also in the same paragraph said he will return in 30 mins to reassemble it.

  • if you just use the thermal paste thats good for the first time but when your xbox broke down then the thermal paste not gonna work !

    Sorry i was bored

  • holly shit did that bitch bend when he started heat gunning it the first time?

  • @TH3fall3nN3RO I saw it too.

  • I followed everything you said and it didn't work!!

Can you offer any support its showing 4431 as a result???

  • wait 6 hours for it to cool down, lets long buddy

  • @TheMarcus110 im a dick ok fuck ur xbox up not my fault dickhead

  • Just pull off the x clamps, and replace with some nuts and bolts, the current x clamp configuration allows the x clamps to warp from eat, thus letting the heatsinks pop off the processors.

the guy who commented on my comment earlier, your stupid, this vid is about a guy MELTING the parts back into place. fail.

  • NEVER TOUCH THE MOTHER BOARD YOU WILL DISCHARGE STATIC ELECTRICITY FROM YOUR SELF AND DESTROY IT!

  • Just want to say that radio shack has thermal paste/heatsink compound for $3-12 depending on size/brand/if it has silver.

Silver paste is not recommended...I got mine for $6 with applicator.

They also have heat guns, and if washers/screws if your doing that method.

If you dont know about electronics might be better of just ordering their kit.

I heated my board to 150F letting it cool to 70 at the moment then repeating the heating just to be safe.

Good luck guys I'll respond if it works!

  • @BuffaloWarrior7 I still have 3 red rings, tried heat gun and spacers. Let everything cool to room temp put new compound on let it set.

Fuck Xbox, fuck Microsoft what kind of company makes a product with a 100% failure rate. I don't even use it as a game console any more mostly as a DVD player and it over heated watching a movie thats sum bull shit. Now I have to buy a new Xbox or DVD not sure which I should buy...doubt I'm getting a Ps3 though.

    Thanks anyways.

  • @BuffaloWarrior7 hey I know how you feel but you messsed up. 150F is not hot enough, crank up the heat...lol

  • @suparick91 Yeah wasnt sure how hot to go, the board was hot enough to warp so i assumed that was enough. Ill try again later, It worked the first time and lasted for a year (except my gpu is messed up and produces lot of artifacts).

Already pulled the HDD out of its case so I can drop it in a 4gb "kinect ready" xbox 360. Tempted to throw a blank 300Gb HD from computer in and see if the xbox can format it to work but dont really care if it can't just want to try.

  • shit thanks man. youre the bomb.

  • you know what really works? just shove that xbox360 right up your ass and boom babehh no more broken xbox

  • This may or may not work. The reason it may work is pretty clear, the reason it may not isn't so clear to most people. You really have to understand how solder works and how different types of solder react differently. See in todays day and age people are so paranoid about cancer solder like 60/40 solder isn't sold or used, instead we use what is known a 90/10 solder. That means about 10 percent lead! VS 40 percent lead. What this means a less strong metallurgical bond. Also harder to use!!

  • thanks ill try it now

  • does a a regular hair dryer work?

  • @turbo1234567891234 if you hold it long enough ;)... (FREAKING LONG TIME!)
