The problem isn't gun legality, it's criminals. They banned murder, it still happens, but now only criminals murder people. Ban guns, and only criminals will have guns, because they will disregard the law. They get cocaine and heroin illegally. They'll get guns the same way. A new law isn't the answer, when people aren't even following the current laws.

Here's a thought, before we go about giving up more freedoms, let's do random drug testing on politicians. These bastards think that we all should have to succumb to the humiliating experience of peeing in a cup for our corporate masters when they never have to take a drug test. They require a drug test to work at burger king but other jobs like a congressman or the President of the United States have no drug testing. Apparently holding the nuclear codes isn't considered a high risk job.

Looks like he's on the right track with the violence prevention. However, gun violence exists only because a gun is efficient. If they were removed, it'd be bat, knife, 2x4, log violence, or whatever's handy. 1) "reasonable" - basically trying to say it won't deviate too far of your interests, whatever they are
2) "common sense" - i support what you support, just don't tell me what you support
3) bill titles with an emotional appeal (no child left behind, patriot, etc.)

As a 8 year military vet we took an oath to protect the constitution. In case of a revolution you could count on most of the armed forces to do the right thing. Those who wouldn't would be tried for treason. This is very unlikely to happen because the fury of the American people would come down on our government like a swarm of crazed hornets and they are very aware of this. If our government loses control of a few nukes, which fall into the hands of the rebellion there's no country that would join our government and risk being nuked.

Let me start out by saying that I would love to un-invent guns, but nothing short of that will do. I was robbed at gunpoint. I gave the kid all that I had, but he didn't leave, he kept demanding more. I hated that gun; but by the time it was over, I had a newfound respect for the glock 27 under my left arm. That gun did something positive, it saved my life. If guns were illegal, I would have still been robbed, but I would have been able to do nothing, except die... Thanks a lot, buddy.

Looks like he's on the right track with the violence prevention. However, gun violence exists only because a gun is efficient. If they were removed, it'd be bat, knife, 2x4, log violence, or whatever's handy. Taking the guns out of gun violence only leaves you with more violence, but it leaves all the people who lawfully use their guns against to protect themselves from the violence defenseless, especially women, the elderly, and disabled.

2 million violent crimes in the US were prevented by people defending themselves with firearms. Criminals follow no laws now, so they wont follow any new ones. If guns are banned, you deny me the means of self defense, when faced against an armed opposing threat. If you deny me the means of self defense, you deny me the right of self defense. NOBODY WILL DENY ME THE UNIVERSAL RIGHT TO DEFEND MYSELF. You will get my gun when you pry it from my cold dead hands.

It's a chicken and egg situation. If there were no guns freely available you wouldn't have to defend yourself with one. I don't want to see dead, or have your gun. You're quoting Mr Heston btw. What you're saying is that all the students at the Virginia massacre should have had guns on them. What about the 80 people today, tommorrow and the day after (who may or may not have guns themselves) who will die at the hands of a gunman and become just another bunch of statistics.

ok so lets see here. when the killer started shooting people, who did they send to stop him. did they send people with flowers offering him love to stop or did they call the police who carry guns to shoot the killer from killing the innocent? they used guns to defuse the situation, because an idiot was killing people, and if he didnt have a gun, he would have used something else. guns arent to blame, just idiots.

Why stop at ordinary (susceptible to errors in judgement) people having guns, let the HG's and RPG's too. The right to bear arms was an 'amendment', an opinion, re-evaluate it people. You can change amcient law at any time. The right to 'bear' arms was made in different times when militia were supported by the forefathers. It's big business now, open your minds!

Guns are for one thing only. The Virginia guy got guns far too easily. Sadly this episode differs only in numbers dead. I've never blamed a gun for anything. Nobody wants Iran to have the right to bear arms, in the global sense. Arms are big business, that's all.

The guns already exist, dont say we should ban them because they shouldnt exist. They already do. If they didnt exist, then great, people wouldnt die from them, but the facts are that they DO exist. Criminals = minority. Law Abiding Americans = Majority. If you take 10 bad guys in a room full of 100 armed good guys, who will win? Now, if you put 10 armed bad guys in a room of 100 unarmed good guys, what will happen?

The constitution states that a well regulated milita, and the people must bear arms. The right is NOT to be infringed, for the next revolution.
Rights are no good if you have no way to defend them.
Its about more than guns, its about constitutional rights, so we dont have complete government take over.
If the Government doesnt fear its people, then there arent "people" anymore. Just subjects.

Honestly, I have never seen a gun commit a crime so I see no reason why such darling protecters should have restrictions. Beside, no matter how much someone attempts to control violence you can always strangle someone to death. That said, I would like to have my gun for protection. Thank you.

People don't realize that a gun is just as bad or as good as the preson behind the gun. Look at the countries that have baned gun's. Statistics Prove that crime's and violence has gone up. The reason if no one has a firearm to defend one's self or their property what's stopping a criminal from mugging them. Also it's not just gun's that kill people you can use just about anything as a weapon.

Existing gun control already violates the 2nd Amendment. These people should try something more along the lines of an anti-idiot rally. It's a funny thing that guns have been in this country since it was formed and only in the past few decades have you even heard of a school shooting. I agree, they put these anti gun stickers up in ohio as if a criminal would be overcome by the magic pixie dust, do a 360 and convert to be a good guy just by seeing that sticker. A criminal wouldn't care about the sticker, it only turns away people who legitimately want to defend themselves. The good guys.
