I can't help myself, but I also just have to say... I find this man tremendously attractive. He really is the most attractive politician ever. I'm born in the wrong time, at the wrong place.
This expression while he speaks, this smile... oh my god... I'm in love! o_O
Well, I just read that Che Guevara actually had landed in Greece during that journey!Which actually hadn't happened in '64 but a couple of years earlier.
that's important to me of course cause I'm Greek - obviously!
I like the way Che is smirking at the reporter asking the questions and the translator trying to relay the question back in Spanish, Che could speak English.
Just do a bit of a search on google and you will find out :D
On March 13 1965 his plane landed at Shannon Airport with mechanical problems, an Irish reporter by the name of Alan Quinlan was tipped off to him being there. Later on they go to a pub in Limerick City and celebrate St Patrick's Day and the following day Che goes back to Cuba.
@aryanstallyan Jim Fitzpatrick created the image that raised awareness of Guevara..I don't think it's fair to say 'all he did was copy a photo'.With respect, when was the last time you made a silkscreen that went around the world..just a comment to let you know.
Shall! Hear you this Triton of the minnows? Mark you his absolute 'shall'? 'Shall'! O good but most unwise patricians! Why, you grave but reckless senators, have you thus given Hydra here to choose an officer, that with him peremptory 'shall,' being but the horn and noise o' the monster's, wants not spirit to say he'll turn your current in a ditch, and make your channel his? If he has power then vail your ignorance; if none, awake your dangerous lenity.
They choose their magistrate, and such a one as he, who puts his 'shall,' his popular 'shall' against a graver bench than ever frown in Greece. Though there the people had more absolute power, I say, they nourish'd disobedience, fed the ruin of the state. How shall this bisson multitude digest The senate's courtesy? Thus we debase the nature of our seats and make the rabble call our cares fears; which will in time break ope the locks o' the senate and bring in the crows to peck the eagles.
Therefore, beseech you that will be less fearful than discreet, that love the fundamental part of state more than you doubt the change on't, that prefer a noble life before a long, and wish to jump a body with a dangerous physic that's sure of death without it, at once pluck out the multitudinous tongue; let them not lick the sweet which is their poison!
Your dishonour mangles true judgment and bereaves the state of that integrity which should become it, not having the power to do the good it would, for the in which doth control it. In a rebellion, when what's not meet, but what must be, was law, then were they chosen: In a better hour, let what is meet be said it must be meet, and throw their power in the dust.
His charisma, even in old black and white footage, is extraordinary.
I reckon she did well as a non-professional interpreter. Despite the communication barrier, the rapport between them is charming with an innocent politeness that's rare today.
i dont believe in his ideals but in my opinion he was an intellegent and great man. i envy him for he spent and gave his life in what he loved and believed in......i cant help to wonder if the earths population was like him....would the world be a better place or worse off??
@GossamerWaits I'm not sure what you are referring to? Is it the bit about the Irish air hostess saying that she felt Che could speak English? I read it from an interview Felima Archer gave. She is the air hostess in this video.
The woman in this was an Aer Lingus stewardess named Felima Archer. She was an improvised interpreter so don't be too hard on her. It was a 60 minute stopover in Dublin Airport. Her photo was taken with Che for the press and she still has the original photo. When interviewed years later she said that she still remembers Che's eyes, his look, and that he was very relaxed, calm and happy.
Viva Iberoamerica.

@RamblinTroubadour Hardly ancestors. His father was Irish. Che's full names is Erneston Guevara-Lynch. I didnt know an Irishman drew that iconic pic - thanks for that.
boy you got a wrong............Che was a real man.........he died for a cause that he believe.........and how can u say that he was a bad father...........are you his son? Che die for his cause he had much bigger balls then u and me
I LOVE THIS MAN! i belive the people ho hate him barley know what he stod for. If you go out to the street and ask someone'' do you hate communists?'' then the most people will answear yes, BUT if YOU ask THEM what communists stand for and what they want, i belive they don't answear at all. i tried this when i visited U.S.A. And i was shocd! they didn't know a SHIT!
i do agree with u man, ur absulutely right, most of them hate him for no reason, maybe the only reason is that he was a commie, although they know nothing about communism.
Che's a hero. For murderers go to Miami ! Cuban exile TERRORISTS like Luis Posada Carilles ("South America's Bin Laden" who blew up Cubana Flight 455 in 1976), Orlando Bosch (his partner in crime), Felix Rodriguez (point man for Oliver North in Iran/Contra, trained central American death squads), Alpha 66 (Gusano = Al Qaeda), Brigade 2506, etc -- Just go to Versailles restaurant in Miami where these assassins will be sitting up front.
Fidel Castro may have ended up ruling Cuba in a way that could no longer be regarded as "revolutionary", but you cannot accuse Che of being "a red gangster, a murderer, a thief and a mercenary", when every action he ever took in the wars he participated in were morally selfless and in the name of true justice.
CHE ... hero, icon, father, husband, rebel, soldier, writer, intellectual, doctor, politician, dentist, poet, statesman, military theorist, guerrilla, diplomat, general, warrior, Marxist, defender of the poor, inspirational legend, guardian of justice, and current saint in Bolivia.
Would you rather live under Batista's government? Maybe Castro's regime is simply the lesser of two evils, but I wouldn't put Guevara into that category. And in the end, Guevara disapproved of Castro's iron-grip over the country, which is why he cut off all ties with Cuba, including his citizenship and standing. Yes, he was a murderer, and responsible for many deaths, but that's the reality of any revolution. Look at George Washington and the massacre of the Iroquois Indians. Was that justified?
well america has allways atackt countryes never, defended them self. you guys has atacked vietnam, irak, cuba and more. Americka atacked vietnam becouse you guys thoght they will atack americka! but they never did. you guys just atacked with aout thinking twice about it !!!
yeah maybie Che was a gangster but he killed his enymies not his people. like you guys did he defended his country!
America has killed or caused people to be killed in the name of freedom than che could ever dream of. Yeah Che killed but at least he didn't pussyfoot around like americans and admitted it like a man.
Americans want you to believe they're righteous and are holy but the truth is they are just like Stalin and Hitler's Gestapo.
I hope Fidel Castro lives on for at least 100 years...Miami has been converted into another Havana...The financial drain that those cretins have created with all the scams that they are famous for is unbelievable.
look at america, in U.S.A it is aloot of poor people ho live in the streets it got to be around 100000000000 people!! , but Che wanted cuba to be more equality to the people and thats makes a good solider and a man!
YOU maybie hate the communism becouse your dad told you to or something. I RATHER LIVE IN CUBA THEN U.S.A !
Also, if anything it looks like Che is trying to understand what the guy is saying as he seems to have a small grasp of the English language. He's deeply focused.
The "gay" eye-staring moment was not gay at all. Guevara was known for having a very penatrating gaze, as have a lot of important figures in old and modern society. Think of Rasputin for instance. Some people seem to have an almost disconcertingly powerful stare. Che Guevara was one of them. I think that's another reason that his own guerilla army was so terrified of him. He always looked like he meant business.
You have a fruity life in america eh? I thank god everyday Im not a nutjob american. Being a good citizen isnt doing something with your life, loving your country isnt doing something with your life, and your bragging about NOT being homeless. You really have nothing to show for your life. and you right, Che WAS all those things. Because the guy did stuff with his life. Thats funny tha he stole that plane. Hes got balls unlike half the pussies that dwell this planet.
Dude your just jeleous cuz Che did something with his life and made somethin outta himself. Che fucked more woman than you will ever do bud. You gotta get your facts together before you pretend to talk like you know somethin. Che is the man and will forever be remembered. What have you done with your life?
"Those who let the murderers of blacks remain free, and punish the black population because they demand their legitimate rights as free men — how can those who do this consider themselves guardians of freedom? The government of the United States is not the champion of freedom, but rather the perpetrator of exploitation and oppression against the peoples of the world and against a large part of its own population." ~ CHE GUEVARA, 1964
