  • Hi nice post, I have exactly the sam knife!!

But the clip is sort of loose, Do you know how to tighten it?

  • Love this Knife!!!

  • Nice review man! My dad has a skeletonized EZ out that I am envious of.

  • PS, since grade 8 i always carried a swiss army knife or some sort in case of an emergence.

  • Cool story, keep up the reviews man!

  • I've heard it was 450ss. I got one lightly used a few months ago for 15 bucks off a friend. The knife is made amazingly well and hasn't failed me yet. A great daily carry

  • i own and love this knife, and the older one as well... best knife you can own...

  • Do those cut outs in the blade effects the blade's strength.

  • im sure that kids parents are just happy that survived :)

  • Does this knife come well oiled, or did you have to really work the action on it to get it so quick?

  • @speier The Gerber E-Z Out opens that fast out of the box. I do put some Gibbs gun oil on the hinge, which seems to last forever and makes it even better.

  • that is a really interesting story! cool knife!

  • the blade on this one is 420 of some sort i did my research. they make the s30v model it looks a little different. the cheapest i saw it for was about $30 on ebay.

  • DO A review on your buck 119 special

  • @Albertopolis23456

    Search function.

He made a review on that years ago.

  • Geez.

Why didn't you just say "I once used this knife to cut through a seat-belt to free myself after a crash."

We wanted a knife review, not your life-story!!!

  • @bluenoserr

Make something better yourself, you overcritical asshole.

  • Nice review. I've got one myself. And, I've had a lot of success with this simple, but effective design. :-)

  • Great review. So sorry to hear about the crash thank G-d everyone was okay. I am definitely going to get the knife.

  • 11.000 viewer! :D

  • Sorry but I hate serades

  • my uncle has this blade on his saltwater boat and the thing is all rusty you cant even open it with the thumb holes you need two hands but man the blade is still razor sharp and he never sharpened it

  • they make an S30V version of this and it's 40.00

  • could you reveiw the gerber remix?? there is only two or three on youtube

  • Hey could u tell me if STRAIGHT EDGE or SERRATED COMBO for this knife is better? mainly i use for like shaving wood =D THANK YOU

  • i found mine on the street lol.

  • would you recommend gerber knives to a beginner knife collector?

  • Gerber did offer this knife with an ATS-34 blade at one time. This was several years ago. They also offered (maybe still do) in a fully seratted wharcliff style blade with a yellow handle as a rescue knife. I have one of those too. Good knives for what they are. I've found the standard blade steel to be fine for normal tasks. And the knives are relatively inexpensive.

  • i carried one of these for like 3 years. was always a good knife, i slashed at a cardboard box and it messed up the lockback. its still usable but not for EDC or defense.

  • cutlerylover, do you have any oldtimer knives? and if you do, are they any good.

  • You should try to do a review on the Gerber Evo

  • What metal is the blade? S30V?

  • all I knwo is its a 400 series stainless, so I assume 420HC perhaps 440C? Definatly not S30V...

  • i have same knife just one hole though and i found it in garage when i moved in

  • Nice knife, and good story. How come this is the only Gerber knife you have? (or, made a video of anyway.) You should get more Gerbers, 'cause they're awesome!

  • Gerbers are fail dude, their mystery steel is soft as hell. And thats coming from an Oregonian (where Gerbers are made). If you want good knives from Oregon go for Benchmade, Kershaw, Lonewolf, or hell even Leatherman.

  • good thing i don't care about your opinion :D

  • holy shi*t! lol i enjoyed your story haha

  • Gerber made a few of these knives in ATS-34 awhile back.

  • What I realy want to know is why anyone would need that little grove that some knives have in the handle so a little bit of the blade is exposed to cut a seatbelt. What kind of tard cant cut a seatbelt with a regular knife and needs a special seatbelt cuting knife??

  • hes just telling the story to the knife ass

  • I don't know. They're afraid of scratching themselves with the tip of a knife. (rolls eyes).

In the event of a car about to explode, and your strapped in. Either you're gonna be smart and unhook yourself, or not give a shit about cutting your torso while slicing the seatbelt away. What your not gonna fuckin do is sit there for half an hour and fit the seatbelt into the groove with shaking fingers from the adrenaline, blood and dirt in your eyes, and the fact that you're gonna be burning soon.

  • 99% of the time cars roll they dont explode, as long as you dont have NOS or other explosives in the vehical when you roll (not gasonline or diesel) there is almost no risk of an explosion. They just burn up, and that takes several minutes.

  • Lovely. That being said, if I'm in such a situation, while I won't fuckup the seatbelt by cutting it, I doubt I'm gonna sit tight and doze because spamerman told me 99% of the time, they don't explode. I'm gonna get my ass O.U.T.

  • once you crash the belts fucked anyways. the materiel they are made of stretches to absorb the force of the crash. its wise to replace them if the car isnt totaled.

  • like he said he fell down after cutting the seatbelt so it's good to have it couse then you can't fall on your blade an stab yourself

  • i have seen some gerbers that say made in usa and some that say made in taiwan. is there two gerber brands?

  • I was actually stabed in the face with one of those. Yes people stabed in the face. My older cousin HAD one and I pissed him off one day and he threw it at me. The blade was closed and it had came open in flight and it got me under my right eye. I had 12 stitches and a fractured face. Thank God he didn't throw it hard enough or it would've killed me, but the next day I hit him in the head with a old iron skillet and threw his knife in a little creek near my house. LOL

  • i woulda just taken the knife...

  • good thing you didnt fall on your knife

  • i found the ez-out jr on a beach in south bimini

  • i fell 30 feet from a tree and landed on my back, things felt slow motion when i was falling

  • you should do a video on the gerber paraframe II i just got it and i feel its a awsome nife i have had a gerber almost all my life never had any problems with

except for my friends taking them all the time love the videos peace:P

  • I love my paraframe also. Some people dont like gerber knives, for the money their hard to beat. Plus most chain stores and sporting goods have a good selection.

  • hey cutlery lover nice vids man hey do you have the gerber torch 1 tanto knife i just got it today for 30 bucks canadian great knife if u havent got it get it its great

  • good knife nice handle

  • wow......wonderful.....i saw some review on the tube...

but not really well done as your's review

i've seen the review of the gerber truss 2,5 but i'm searching for better one...and i thought that maybe you'll have a truss 2,5 in your collection....

can you try to put the gerber truss 2,5 review too???

Thanks a lot for the other you've done till now........

they're stunning........ thanks a lot "cutlerylover"

  • Just FYI, I own both versions of this and the other one is nearly identical except for the cutouts. The other model has a single cutout; about the same length as the first cutout on this one, but a little narrower. Otherwise identical. Not sure if they were made simultaneously, tho. I bought the model here about 10 years after the first one.

  • i Like This Knife And Sometimes i Prefer Over Some Benchmade's "Kinda Stupid" But It Is Awesome :)

  • you're such a great story teller

  • lol... my edc is a knife and a zippo... zippo cause im a pyro, and you never know when you need fire, also is fun to do tricks with if youre bored... and you never know when youre gonna need a knife..

  • what do you mainly need your pocket knives for?

  • they are for so many things.

box/ letter opener. pencil sharpener, prybar, self defence. opening blister packs, flathed screwdriver. toothpick. getting into small places, and many more. and why not, put it in your pocket and forget about it :)

  • Thread cutting, fingernail care, opening bags of chips or gummi bears in a straight line... the uses are countless... but most importantly my knives (which are pretty much either autos or assisted opening), serve as a meditation focus. Keeping my hands busy was how I quit smoking :)

  • hey love the vids.. just wondering wat u think about the gerber fast draw?

  • You need to add the Rex Applegate daggers by gerber to your collection. There pretty serious combat knives, scary looking and effective. Rex applegate worked with Sykes Fairburn in the Office of strategic services (OSS), developing extreme hand to hand techniques for the military. He wrote "cold steel" a good book on knifeplay. They made the Britsh commando knives, and raider daggers , and gerbers (portland or) got the Next and better versions out of modern materials. good stuff. im happy w/ it

  • I have owned both the smaller and larger versions, liked them both, but traded for other stuff back a few years ago, I still have Rex's autograph though, lol, I wrote him a few years back before he sadly passed away...

  • i hope you never trade that, im suprised that you dont have more gerber knifes

  • great story man. you are one lucky guy, and that's one lucky knife. i would hold on to it forever as well. do you always prefer to carry an EDC with a serrated edge?

  • i ALWAYS have a benchmade rescue hook strung to my rearview mirror, and ive had to use it before when our car flipped

  • Thats a good place to keep it. I have a rescue tool tied to the bottom of my seatbelt, with a breakaway clasp so that I can pull it off if I need it fast.

  • Don't take this question the wrong way, but if you keep a knife on you EVERYWHERE, how do you fly on airplanes, or do you?

  • I dotn fly often, in the last 10 years I had tyo fly maybe 4 times, all 4 tiems I actually shipped my knife to the hotel I knew I woudl be using and that worked just fine for me! The shipped it back before I went home...cost me $10 in total to do that, and was well worth it, haha...

  • So you didn't just use it as an excuse to get a souvenir knife and mail it back?

  • haha souvenir knives are never worth the money, but one tiem I did find a knife shop and ship back a new purcahse!

  • glad ur not dead

  • great vid! i saw the full knife collection video and you mentioned this knife and how it saved your life so of course i HAD to see this one lol

  • wow.. i think ive seen this video a few times but i can never remember you saying that a dear jumped out.. lol

  • i think you would be interested in the gerber evo jr. and optiva light.

  • gerber evo's are great

  • gymlord.... what the hell?

  • dude that is not cool i hope you dont just go up to random people and stab them with a knife people would either die or have mental and physical scars for life.

  • Awesome story you told! nice knife

  • What do you think about gerber knives in general? ex. paraframe and the profile fixed blade.

awesome vid and nice story telling

  • I think Gerber makes soem decent model knives but for the money Kershaw, CRKT, and red class BM's are better...for similar style models anyway...

  • This is one of the reasons why i bought a victorinox rescue tool for my car, just in case, and i also always carry some sort of blade with me

  • Yeah you never know man...

  • good plan, carrying a knife everyday

I carry a cheap Gerber Paraframe, nice cheap knife

  • Very nice, yeah even if you dotn use it, its good to know its there if you have to!!!!

  • oh by the way, did you carry your leatherman wave on you at that time or was the accident before you started carrying it.

  • oh, I didn't have it then...this was about 5 years ago or so, I got the wave maybe 2 years ago...

  • very interesting story, and a good lookin knife.

  • Thanks!

  • 5 stars

that is one crazy story. I had the same knife, which is now with my ex-gf. She was using it for edc, probably still does. I'm sure it is much happier to be with her :) really decent knife!

  • Yeah, a good old favorite....

  • Wo on the car accident again. "Lock backs" sure seem old fashioned now in this day of liner locks.

  • yeah, the lockback knife is getting a bit old, but still goign strong, and used in many modern knives, but your right, the majority of new knives either have linerlocks or framelocks...I think the "tactical" craze grew strong...making these one ahnd opening knives more popular...

  • ah the ez out skele... i had one BUT lost it! Oh well i got my benchmades and sypdercos now

  • There ya go moving on up...

  • Last year me and my friend and his bro went to Mcdonalds. On our was back he decided to accellerate on ice and ran into a telephone poll, he and I were wearing our seatbelt , but my friend was'nt, he hit his head on the dashboard, I was fine, didnt feel anything...Thats why i allways wear my seatbelt, great vid, i like the Gerber Trendy with the wood and black blade, that was my first good knife befor i bought my Kershaw Blue/black blade knife in january!

  • Ahh, very nice a blur is a nice folder as well...Sorry to hear about yoru friend, but yeah, you know personally about the importance of the seatbelt!

  • awsum vid jeff, i love the look of this knife the holes in the blade are mean lol! will def look into getting one! sounds kinda weird jeff but as you were telin that story my heart was in my throat because just over a year ago i had a very similar experience where i rolled a car ending up on the roof, i didnt have to use my knife to cut the belts but i nearly killed my friend and i was in intensive care for 2weeks, i will never forgive myself for that. makes you appreciate life tho.

    james.

  • Hey James, sorry t hear that, yeah peopel don't realize how seriosu driving is, I mean sure accidents happen, but alot of the time its carlessness, people mostly younger people get a sense of safety when playign around, and when the crap hits the fan its a serious reality check...If I can do it over I woudl have told me friend to slow down because I was uncomfortable, but back then I just didn't want to sound like a wimp you know, lol...

  • The older I get the less I care what people think, and the less I care about "looking cool" or being "tough" I just do what I like and play it safe more often...But when your a teen there is alot of stupid thgins people do to impress your friends...lol, its natural, just gotta learn from your mistaes you know...and think before you do things...

  • yeh thats absolutly right and i gess it is better to get it out of your system when your younger... i know i have lol. i gess you could say i learned the hard way or the easy was in some peoples eyes, but we are both still here to tell the tale and thats the main thing, like you say you just learn by your mistakes and learn to think about things before you do it so some good does come out of it i supose. cheers jeff.

    james.

  • Yup...We lived to tell the tale, lol..

  • i have this one the jr and the rescue models

  • Oh cool, I have not tried the Jr ones yet myself, but they seem like they woudl be just as nice, just smaller, lol...

  • grt knife and great story

  • Thanks!

  • thanks man good vid

  • You have briefly touched on this story before, but not in this much detail. A great story on why we all should have a knife on us at all times.

  • Yeah, this is one of the reaons why I see knives as tools more than weapons...But not everyone feels the same way...Which is a bit sad to me...With all the gun problems we have today people still can't stand seeing people carrying knives? I just don't get it...lol...

  • I don't carry anything extravagant like you do but, I carry a Victorinox Super Tinker, and I keep a Victorinox Huntsman in my glove compartment of my car. BTW, I would love to see more swiss army knive videos!

  • Hey, if the knife works for you its all you need! Both the untsman as well as the super tinker are very nice knives! I woudl show more SAK's but I am clean out, lol, I think I filmed all the ones I own, except maybe a wegner model, but thats in my tackle box at ym grandfathers house..I will have to look for that the next time I am up there, lol...

  • thank god you made it out of that car wreck man

  • Yeah, the road almost never gets anyone drivign by too, so it could have been hours before someone drove past and saw us...The nearest house was 3 miles down the road...Which we walked to, I am glad the home owner was so nice and let us use their phone...

  • great review!!

yeah, i've been in a car accident too. seat belt really do jam on you huh? if had a knife back then things might have been easier.

    does Gerber still make these?

  • thanks! Yes, I belive they still do, I think they even have newer versions with S30V too! but a bit more expensive...
