  • I have a new book out on how colic happens and what to do till the vet arrives

  • I've dealt with colic before, and never had a horse die. Call the vet immediately! Colic is very serious and deadly. No matter what type of colic you need to get the horse up and walking! Keep them up and walking until the vet gets there. The reason you are supposed to keep them up and NOT let them roll is because their gut can get twisted. If that happens, your only options are to euthanize them, or surgery.

  • awww poor thing ! colic is a horrible thing and so deadly to ! hope this horse is ok and make it through....some horses aren't so lucky

  • Lets hope its okay

  • u obviously dont care about this horse... DONT let it lie down for God's sake or let it roll! wat is ur PROBLEM?! obviously, u shouldn't have this horse because u dont know enough about it to take care of it... Poor guy~

  • @Eventingirl96 - wrong! >D:

  • ugh so dont let it roll for gods sake

  • Dont let him lie down, if ya cant get a vet give him a beer

  • llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • you can't let him lay down and roll like that when he's colicing! He'll twist up his guts and then you have to get the vet to do surgery!!!

  • @9yrhunterjumper - this is not true!

research shows that letting the horse roll will not harm the guts!

  • @FuketsuBatafurai

Yep that's an old wives tale, they can't twist their intestines by rolling around. Rolling around may MEAN his stomach is bothering him, but it will not cause problems :)

  • @109367 Thank you, I was just watching another video of a horse with colic and people were saying the meanest things about the people for letting him lie down. We just walked out today to find a dead yearling who had colic, the vet wouldn't come out to see him "until its been three days" so I'm trying to let people know that they have to get their vet out ASAP and don't take that answer of "until its been 3 days".

  • @ideasarebulletpr00f 3 days? wtf the horse will have started decaying by then. Thats just sick

  • @Emura100 No I meant he wouldn't come out until after 3 days of using the bute while the horse was still alive, but it was only 2 days after and he was dead. So I was trying to let people know 3 days could be too long.

  • @ideasarebulletpr00f Oh ok I was confused. I'm sorry for your loss

  • @109367 He had been rolling an lying down for a couple days, the vet gave us bute to give him, then he was up and walking eating pooping etc, seemed fine albeit maybe a little tired from the ordeal. then today we come out and he'd passed during the night. I called the vet to see if he had any idea what it might be and he just gave me prices for a farm call/autopsy. So people, choose your vets wisely.

  • @109367 Actually rolling can aggreviate a torsion colic...

  • @FuketsuBatafurai Sorry, you are wrong, depending on the type of colic, rolling can be detrimental.

  • @kaeso100 You are completely right.
