@jordsoo1 A high quality psu will have very reliable protection circuitry that offers Over current protection (OCP) Overvoltage protection (OVP) Short circuit protection (SCP) Over power protection (OPP) etc.. Tho i suppose water being poured in could have caused these circuits to fail to respond, i would bet if you did this on an highend Enermax or other top company, 9/10 would shut off and stop pulling power.

@Spliffer45 You can't just shut off power if it's being short circuited through the main jack though. The power isn't being drawn by the PSU it's being drawn by the water when it short circuits. There's only so much those special circuits can protect against and this is not one of them. They're built to stop brown outs etc damaging the computer. Lightning would be another thing it couldn't protect against, indirectly maybe but a couple Kilovolts have the ability to jump so it's unpredictable.
