@woodyaan they all speak on different languages, and Abchaz are Muslims ,Georgians and Ossetians are Christians( I'm talking about majority). If you aren't from that region, for u would be difficult to distinguish one from another, but locals know by distinct costumes, dancing manner, music.
this is adjarian georgian dance and osetians never danced it! it is dance of georgian muslims and they have nevere seen osetians in life, even rest georgians began to dance it thanks to sukhishvili anssamble! it is a dance of adjarians and rest georgian muslims which are ocupied by turkey for now unfortunately!
As an ossetian I will agree that Gandagana and Kartuli are georgian dances. We dance them because they are caucasian and beautiful. We are normal and tolerant people)
yap I agree they are totally ossetian but they were renovated by Sukhishvili couple as I know. The original ones were developed into its recent forms thanks to them. Anyway all of the dances no matter where they come from is of caucasian heritage :)
from all the ossetian (alani) dances, most of the dances and costumes (for the woman) seem very similar to the persian dances and costumes. thank you for this video, i am very interested in the ossetian culture. it is a very beautiful culture.
this is a georgian dance BTW, I think is is disrespectfull to call the video ALAN GNDAGAN, because alan gandagana doesnot exist. there is only one gandagana originated in Georgian region of Achara.Gandagana means side by side in georgian
What ever it is, the style of the women dancing and dress (not particularly in this vid but in others such as honga) is similar to Persian/iranian style and dance. Also, this could might as well been a Ossetian dance later adapted to Georgians, or vice versa. In the Caucasus, cultures have mixed so much it is hard to say what is from where.
personally I do not think so and I am sure even ossetians would agree wit it. dances like gandagana and ajaruli are different from any other caucasian nation dances. We could argue on Mtiuluri being georgian or not but certainly not about gandagana. whhich is truly Georgian in dresses and in spirit. I do not know why you consider it similar to persian dresses. The fact that it covers the body doesnot mean they are similar ;) I would recommend you to go in wikipedia and search gandagana there :)
Now I don't really mean the dresses in gandagana, but really the dresses in the dances such as Honga or Kartuli (which I believe is also a Georgian dance). I will surely check this info out, thank you friend. :) I pray for peace in that region and hope that everyone can finally get along.
Zurabishvili: you are right)you just misunderstood: Alan is the name of tne ensemble) You can be sure, every Ossetian khows, that Gandagan is a Georgian dance..)
