I was through with hip-hop after 95 with the exception of a few. But then the Black Star joint came out in '98 and then this one in '99...this is the dopest concept album in hip-hop BAR NONE! Breezly Brewin', Big Sha, Kool Keith, Big Daddy Kane, Chubb Rock, loves how De La freaked the metaphors, but hated the track, Xzibit/Sadat X, EVERLAST STILL GOT IT. The Men In Blue was all flame!

If Hip Hop can claim any genius producers then Prince Paul would be at the top of the list. He help start Hip-Hop's "underground backpacking movement", when he produced De La Soul's "3 Feet High & Rising LP", which in my opinion picked up where groups like "Ultra Magnetic MC's "Critical Beat Down" left off. These 2 groups ( and Public Enemy) incorporated exotic, spacy beats, and off beat rhyming into their music. Not your typical "everybody scream!" at the time. Ultra influenced both PE & DeLa
