The easiest way to dvd your vhs is to hire a DVR. Just plug your vhs in and record with a blank dvd. Most DVR's have a harddrive too so you can record the whole lot and put stuff onto dvd's later.

Capture card is cool too, but more messing about (better overall though)

If you get a TV capture card with A/V inputs (RCA cables, the red-yellow-white) you can convert all of your videos for the one-time price of the capture card which usually runs from $100-$250. Some of the better ones come with HDMI and composite cable inputs for recording things like xbox also.

@jordanreimermusic I looked it up quickly, it seems there's a device called the "dazzle" from Best Buy or other retailers that costs around $80 and comes will all of the capture software required. This random video I found (courtesy of an owner of the device) explains the process. This may or may not be the best product but at least it will give you an idea of what to look for.
