What about clinging to government? I think that's one thing that Obama didn't mention people clinging to. He's basically saying: "The American people are bitter, and they have to cling onto something for dear life. If you were smart enough, you'd cling to my message and my agenda instead."

His Rev Wright denouncement came far to late, yet in the nick-of-time in that his "supportors" will begin to ask themselves why he's denouncing now, when the (good? bad?) charismatic Rev hasn't really said anything different than he's already (spewed?) said. The fair way was to revote w campaigning. That didn't happen. I would tell the states to take a leap and follow the rules next time. He effectually calls them losers, and he, I suppose, is in a postion to do so; that's good for him and his family, or whatever, but it comes back to the same question you avoid answering: Can he or she who denigrates any be a good president to all? #1. I'm a voice who has already helped give Obama to a sizable lead.
#2. You HAVE exposed your hang-ups whether you know it or not. Either that, or you're just a bull shit artist like Hillary. You know you're side is loosing so you'll just start making up crap to make Obama look bad, even when you know deep inside that his words aren't anywhere near as bad as you make them out to be. I heard his speech, and it made me like Obama even more. The republican base is concerned with 1) gun control 2) immigration-with a lot of hatred directed towards immigrants 3) religion-mostly right wing Christian fundamentalists. Obama said these feelings replaced genuine political concerns and made a bitter area of political discourse. Every time there is a "fox spin" scandal on this guy, it just makes him more popular. He is real, and the media hates it.

If that statement had been made in regards to defending homosexuality (a topic which is usually "warded off" with crucifixes and an issue many don't even want to discuss), would you say it's "condescending?" If this comment had been implied on the basis of defending homosexuality, nobody would've said a damn thing. I'm from a small town, I attend church on occassions, & using religion (mainly the Bible) as a way to say "we don't like you" is common practice. The bitterness factor comes in whenever people's perceptions of a "normal" life (a.k.a "the American Dream") is somehow challenged or altered. Only THEN do the majority feel concerned or threatened by remarks like Obama's.

I don't know what town you're from Higorillaz, but the small towns that I know of (in 2008) don't consist of just one particular race. Did Obama say small white towns? Small black towns?
