  • How strong classical background does Jordan have?

  • @divyx He attended Juilliard for like 8 years, how strong is that ?

  • amazing jordan...best forever....whith the remote control jaja......AMAZING!!

  • His wrists are so low! If he wasn't playing so well I would say that hand position is bad technique....

  • @SharmaYelverton When going fast, you need to lower the wrist on Grand pianos, to get connected to each note, It's standard theory ;)

  • @Roleren Yes there is truth in what you say certainly but bassed on my own modest observations of the greats and my own experience I would say that his are unusually so. His technique is unconventional certainly but I think he also has unusually large hands and long wrists which may contribute to this. I would recommend adopting this aspect of his technique into your playing unless you have hands similar to his. I certainly don't mean to fault his playing though and it works very well for him.

  • what was this year of this videos please ?

  • @PsychotikPandora It says 2001 dude

  • @HebbyMetal thanks

  • @PsychotikPandora NP dude

  • I wish Jordan releases a Romantic Sonatas album, I am sure he is also a great classical pianist

  • @Aristowi I wouldn't be surprised if he practices things like Chopin's etudes to keep his chops at tip-top shape.

  • KRATOS

  • the number 1

  • I think I like him with the long hair more, now he just needs a wizard hat!

  • When you can play like that, you have basically reached the pinnacle of musical perfection. You are close to musically complete as humanly possible

  • che pippa secca!

  • @erflaz Bevi de meno!

  • @80Phate

  • the only thing more amazing than the fact that he can play something so amazing without any sheet music is the fact that he never hits an off note... ever

  • 2001...best jordan ever....

  • I wish I could develop Rudessness like him, but I cannot...

  • Rudess is Rudess

  • Impressionante!

    5/5

    Thumbs Up! bd

  • Аmazing

  • IN MY OPINION, if its slow then i wont get the "kick" out of playing fast and hitting every single note in perfect timing... that is a really good feeling

  • He's an amazing musician, but IMHO he should slow down sometimes. This could be an amazing song, but it sounds to me like a piano jam. He sure has amazing skills, but he doesn't need to show them everytime he plays.

    Just my 2 cents

  • for him it's like slow cuz his mind is crazy

  • I think it kind of is a piano jam mate

  • this is an amazing song, thing happening here that you just prefer slower things... piano jam can be amazing song

  • @backbird99

this IS a piano jam. thats why its fast. jordan loves to play fast. its just an improv. if you listen to his actual compositioins with Dream Theater the only parts where he plays crazy fast are keyboard solos (which are there to play show off)

  • I wonder how many times he has to replace those strings....

  • the song is headspace from feeding the wheel album

  • All his runs are just a little part of the way he's expressing himself musically. We can't blame him for that. He's some of the best out there indeed.

  • lol ...the remote control.....

    this man rules

  • FEEDINING THE WHEEL

  • @austin1o5 FEED THE WHEEL WITH YOUR SWEAT

FEED THE WHEEL WITH YOUR SOUL

FEED THE WHEEL WITH YOUR PASSION

    :D

  • this is fucking sexy i wish i played piano

  • ooo

he once was a haired dude...

well, no wonder JP and MP always praise him

  • I have been to a few concerts where he has performed a solo, and every one of those, he has had amazing runs up and down the keys on either his piano or his keyboard. those are crazy and all, but i want him to just lay back and play something nice and beautiful, without all the crazy runs added in there every 3 measures. But what he's doing now is good, those runs are what makes Jordan Rudess an amazing musician. but i just want to hear a nice slow piece done by him.

  • With his creativity and his amazing chord progressions, he could do wonders on a slow piece

  • watch his improv on his musical diary on youtube. Pt 1. i think thats what ur looking for.

  • maybe because jordan isn't playing minor pentatonics, he's playing a melodic, exotic solo. And they are two different instruments so they each have different expectations, you aren't going to get discovered playing piano by playing three blind mice. Lastly, "if a guitarist played this exact same shit" there is no way he'd be called a soulless shredder, he'd probably be called the greatest guitarist ever.

  • Totally wrong, dude, absoulutely wrong.

People should never say there`re certain musicians who are ``Souless`` just because they aren`t moved by their music. If there`s only one person whose eyes get wet when listening to a piece of music written and/or performed by x musician, that`s enough evidience he/she has soul. I`m one of them, especially when listening to Blind Faith piano section Live from the Chaos in Motion DVD.

  • Rudess had HAIR? WOAH!!!!

  • Professor Rudess

  • I just love it when he plays the classical piano, but he rules the keyboard aswell ^^

  • Anywho, improved or not, he's still a talented pianist, best of luck to him.

  • Lol even still, that still means to make a successful improvisation you have know where the chords are going, and if you have an accompaniment playing, then it's not completely improved.

  • You missed the part where he hit the remote for the accompaniment.

  • Pretty good? Clearly this is the first time you have heard this guy. You can tell you have intimidation in your comment.

  • Comment removed

  • @jazzmuzician you are sooooooo funny! and to think that your idname is jazzmuzician! or were you closing your eyes during the whole session??? lolxxxxx

  • @jazzmuzician

Jordan doesn't need accompaniment...he IS accompaniment himself...;)

  • Let's see how many negative comments I get...

I'm better than him. Why's everyone so impressed?

  • Ok, so you must be quite confident if you're making bold statements like that.

Thing is, we're not impressed until we actually SEE it. We've seen proof of Rudess playing. If you want to impress us, show us.

  • Ha! I was joking, man, of course I'm not as good as him!

I am confident with my ability - confident I'm not as good as him, but I will be. One day, Rudess, one day...

  • he has no sheet music, is this all improve. i think i have a total chub for jordan rudess :D

  • have you heard jordan's song "feed the wheel?" it's all not improve.. jordan played what he made in his albums.. try to listen it,,

  • An amazing virtuoso! One of the best there is!

  • 1:49 to 1:52 is tasty! excellent improv skills JD

  • i mean JR

  • haha I have that same metronome its about 40 yrs. old

  • wow he plays REALLY awesome

  • he looks better without hair, I think :)

    He is amazing..

    Rob

  • seriously wow.

  • fuck!!! he's the fucking god this is the best keybord player in the world. He is fucking amazing he is the god of god of keyboard. He's become one with the instrument. He's my idol and i'm a guitar player

  • im a guitar player 2, but i started to play keyboard after watching just one of his videos :D

  • @phantomlord3883 mine too! and im a drummer lol!

  • I actually think locobeis makes a good point.

  • Wow the thing he goes into at 0:48 is really cool. Should make it into a DT song.

  • It's a song of Jordan's solo album but I can't remember the title :p

  • Oh? I'll have to look it up. Thanks.

  • It's "Feed The Wheel". Thanks again!

  • God loves us very much

  • "God loves us very much" ?

Wtf does that have to do with this vid ?

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding something here. :|

  • every once in a while you get a jesus-y comment.

'although jordan's talent is incredible, it is nothing compared to jesus' talent that he had in saving our sins'

    lol.

  • I think we should separate certain things. Religion and music can be combined, but should not be considered as the same element.

We create music, and we can control it to a certain level.

Who created religion? But who can control it?

Sorry, I'm a bit sentimental on christmass eves. :)

  • This has nothing to do with religion. Its just being used as a metaphor to say how good Rudess is, not taking piss at Jesus.

Sentimentality eh? I think it's overreacting...

  • Yeah, mix all of that with a bottle of vodka.

  • i don't think jordan would give a fuck,. he is jewish

  • Last time i checked, Jordan was having Zen/guitar duels with Jesus and Jesus was lifting weights and placing mines under the floor of the audience :P

  • Why is there a video of a lady giving birth in the "related videos"?

  • If you have to ask... you have no sense of humor.

  • because every time jordan plays, he impregnates a woman with his awesomeness.

  • hahah :D

  • By far the funniest comment I`ve read so far. =)

  • haahahah...the title is the best....but its the same guy who's video this is..."PRThatRocks"

  • Honestly i was thinking the same thing. Sometimes it is annoying to hear all those notes but again it is just how he expresses himself.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!

  • Modern-day Mozart.

  • Brilliant...

  • this is just amazing.

    hes playing a progressive piece.,

that's why it's hard to distinguish the path of notes.,it's natural upon prog.,

  • haha did anyone notice that he is not the only one playing?

there are strings in the back side

  • Everyone should have realized that...

He turns the background music on with his remote control lieing next to him, doesn't he?

  • Whiner.

  • All over the place!

  • just because he is playing fast doesn't mean there isn't melody you just have to think a bit more to keep up with it.

and anyway you are just jealous

  • So can Rudess, he just happened to be playing a lot more notes this time.

  • His hands are enormous!! No wonder he's sooo good..just like Rachmaninov! Love Jordan and DT

  • Listen to Stephan Hough for that.

  • very cool

  • jordan is a great musician.. but when he picked up that remote control and turned on the background music, i just had to laugh:p

  • Where can I find more music like this...?

  • this song its from the album secrets of the muse of jordan rudess

  • So amazing!!!!

I can HEAR and FEEL the melody he plays!!!

    Oh Jordan Rudess!!!!

Joining DREAM THEATER is such a great idea!!!! HAHAHAHA

    Most Talented of 1994!!!

  • Not so.

  • PISS OFF,...

  • Most Talented of 1194

  • uau :)

  • headspace

  • Jordan is amazing. One of the best pianists ever.
