@chrisrusty99 Points to you sire, you caught the one mistake i made, and then had to fix later on in the audio track. I didn't want to scrap the whole thing for a 3 second mistake, so I went back and played the ending of the song from the drum fill. Rest assured though, this is me playing on the entire performance, with that being the only edit.
by far the best cover on youtube, very nice! Could you tell me how you get that tone on the geddy jazz bass? i have it and ive been trying to get this exact tone but i dont know how to get it
That was perfect! -- and not just the playing, but the tone and the play style were perfect as well. It looked exactly like the Live in Rio DVD. They could put a wig and some sunglasses on you and have you stand in for Geddy Lee, and that's no small compliment.
I've actually gotten pretty good at the guitar portion myself, but Leave That Thing Alone is a song meant to be played in a group. I'd be lucky to find a bass player who's even heard of it -- let alone could play it like you can.
well jon i must say im impressed with the fact you did all this yourself....oh wait but you couldnt do the drums...you suck. i can play this on drums with my eyes closed. sell your bass on ebay noob. you cant play in 69/42 like i can!
It says in your description that you use also did the guitar and synth parts. What Synthesizer did you? Also what Guitar Set up did you use? Pedals, Guitar, ect.
I'm interested in knowing. It would be cool if you had done the vid with all parts recorded and the visual changing to see you play one part on bass, the other on guitar and then on synth.
Well, this could get long, boring, and interesting at the same time. The synth was actually a Casio CTK-431, yes, a CHEAP casio. The key is in how you mix it. Nice luscious reverbs can make even a cheap keyboard sound good. The guitar is a 93 Strat Plus, recorded directly in Sonar 7, and then using amplitube exclusively for the amp modeling. I think i get some decent sounds out of it. I will have to make a video with me playing all the instruments in the future. I will keep it in mind. Thanks!
Great tone ! Excellent playing !!!

did you record the audio separate or something? cause at 3:38 it looks like the bass is playing something, but you're not

Really nice job. Great playing and that bass sounds killer. I heard they came out with a sunburst version of the Geddy Lee Signature.

Ah I was there today for this one. He had made this recording a couple of weeks ago and then redid the bass track for the video today.
That would be a cool idea though indeed.
