My 1992 LT-1 with the factory 300 hp 330 tq is suppose to trap 13.6' s and it has been done before. Your telling me that with a good driver the Z06 with 505 HP can't do better than 13' s lol!
The corvette is a faster car if driven right... I've seen those trap at 130+ on stock tires in the low 11's or highhhh tens, but that was a good ass run for a GT500 props.
If you watched all three you would know I took him best out of three. he is a good friend of mine and as we learned to drive and as we modded our cars we would race to see who was improving the most.... Turns out it was ME ;)

Im a ford fan but i would rather the z06. The gt500 is just too damn big and sloppy for me to take seriously on the track, the weight just destroys it. If they can just switch up that damn live axle and give it the 5.4 aluminum and not the 5.4 holy shit the damn things heavy, i wouldn't mind kicking some ass with it.
So far people are already finding similar 1/4 mile times with the 2011 5.0 N/A stang and statistics have proved that it whooped the camaros ass far worse than the gt500.
@GigaMinion the 2011 gt500 is aluminum 5.4, but its only some 100 lbs off, in which still makes it heavier and i do agree the gt500 is heavy as a motherfucker and as a ford fan i would take it everywhere else but the track and yes the new 5.0 is a mean motherfucker and brings a whole new outlook on the game
The z06 is more like a track runner where the gt500 is more of a body builder.
The 5.0 is a meanie, people actually found dyno numbers (both hp and torque) higher than chevy did with their 6.2. I wish they dumped the same bore into the 5.4, then we can have something similar to a 351. Just a tad smaller than 351 but hey, look at the older 5.0...

@GigaMinion yah they could have done some things with the 5.4 to make it faster but its still way to heavy, they actually were going to stop the 5.4 and make it cast iron 5.0 gt500 but went with aluminum but thats really all they did. Theres been talk of bringing the 428 back out & svt making just cobras agian with 5.0 but w/e chevy will have to bringstuff out like the 6.2, they really are going to have to put more engineering into there engines than just making them big if 428s come out
after hearing that the gt500 uses a aluminum 5.4 i researched it and actually found that it weighs 8.5 lbs less than the 5.0 block. Yes i know, weird. The 5.4 is a bigger block and both are aluminum but i guess they made it out of some different cgi material probably. No clue why that is. Using the 6.2 modular i think they can bring back the 428. Only thing that made me mad about the 6.2 is that some say it wont fit in the stangs. Hopefully its bullshit though. Got any links?
Yea, we kinda already got that concept by now. The new subject however is if they will replace the aluminum 5.4 in the gt500 (banana)with a iron 5.0 for weight saving. But that wont happen because the aluminum 5.4 is 8.5 lbs lighter than the 5.0 aluminum. So therefore we (spaghetti) wont have to replace the 5.4 aluminum (black jesus) in the gt500 for weight savings because its already lighter than the 5.0 aluminum and (fuck) will be way (shit my pants) lighter than the 5.0 iron. !

The problum with the 6.2 not fitting is to put something like that into a mustang they have to make everything bigger and heavier, so a big engine in the mustang keeping the body style they have now, means they really have to pump out some hp/torque. nd ill look for some links
If we supercharged a 6.2, let alone a 7.0 the chev guys would bitch out of their ass. We dropped a SC on a 4.6 and it killed a ls1&2. The 5.4 SC killed all ls engines. Then they say that ford can't make a good engine without a SC. Then the 5.0 came out and killed the LS1, 2, and 3. Chev only knows how to make the engine bigger but that's it. They still believe 16V OHV engines produce more torque and power than OHC engines and all sorts of other miracle shit...

The 5.0 is killing the LS2's and LS3's? Sorry but that is wrong. Im a Corvette guy but once 2011 came around.....well these new mustangs are bad @ss for the price point!!!!! Can they hang with an LS2??? Absolutly not with even drivers but Ford is finaly moving in the right direction with weight distribution/aluminum block. IMO the last good car they made was the termi. The GT500 has proved itself to be a "on paper" car to this point. 2011 is a different story though.
motor trend actually found that the 412 hp that fords 5.0 liter has claimed (which is already higher than a ls1, ls2 and ls6) is actually under rated and the 5.0 actually makes 435HP (which is also higher than their new ls3.
The 5.0's cylinder heads also have a port that's soon to be tapped for direct injection. So if the ass whooping that ford is giving GM isn't sad enough, the 5.0 might even be making similar power to gm's ls7!

@GigaMinion I agree that the 5.0 is underrated. Its a bad car! But that doesnt make it faster than even an LS2. We are talking a 13.0 second car compared to a 12.5 car stock for stock. I have a C6 Z06 and put down 425RWHP on a mustang dyno and ran 11.77 in the quarter in a 2200 DA. If you can compare the 5.0 to the LS7 you have no right to call anyone a "dumbass". Its one thing to be proud of the cars you love but be realistic. HP means nothing. You do not race a dyno.

I am comparing the LS2 in the C6 to the 5.0. Personally I'm not a big GTO fan. Good drivers are putting the 5.0 in the low 13's. Adding direct injection may improve gas mileage but will not add 70-80 HP. Now if they supercharge that thing and make another "terminator", that will be interesting.
... motor trend got the 5.0 stang to hit 12.7 and we all know that they aren't quite the best drivers. so if anything, the new 5.0 stang is a low 12 second car. More over, ther terminators were nice. Thanks for mentioning those.
As for direct injection, i don't have enough space to tell you why, but there are literally about 20 or so benefits as to why direct injection increases the fuel economy and power. (especially torque)
Your right, just watched the MT review and they got it to 12.8. Didnt know ppl were going that fast bone stock. Ive seen 2 at the track and they were mid 13's. No matter what I have alot of respect for that car.
LS2's were in C6's from '05-'07. I had an '06 and my best time was a 12.60 with only 3 passes with the car. Our track is 1100ft and never been there in a good DA. The LS3's are a bit faster.
A guy put a stock Z06 in the 10's but that doesnt mean I have a 10 sec car.

But i just find these hot headed muscle cars and what not to be quite fun. Even the turbo 4 cylinders. Gas has quite a big interval and it really interests me.
Not trying to be combative but u have to be a pretty good driver to put a car under factory spec or motortrend. Not sure if u are a racer but alot of ppl are a .3-.5 slower than factory/motortrend spec. Then there are drivers that blow those #'s out of the water but if you get a 5.0 dont expect to be in the 12's unless u have good bit of experience.
There was a Z06 at the track that couldnt get past 12.3 and was frustrated because he thought he had a 11.7-11.8 car. haha
yea, these times vary with experience. Different cars work in different ways but there's no "Magic" to make a car faster than another. As for the 10 sec vette, ranger did that with slicks. Positive its bullshit though but common sense would tell you that anyone who rides their car more than they ride their women (like this guy) can get a car of similar specs and mods to reach similar times. There's no "magic" behind a car (as proven by the 12.3 guy) just the car and your experience.
The trap speed tells everything, horrible launch and a 121mph trap speed to the GT500s 113mph. The Z06 may have lost the 1/4 mile but it's absolutely the faster car.
@customcaddys It was 2.55 vs .32 RT and yet he pulled a 13.04 but the MPH is off he should be at 126+. but when he gets a low RT instead of that 2.55 he should have been at 11.4ish.

@thetravdawg really where does it say that? supersnake puts down 750RWHP(640-680 on dyno). It does a 1/4 in low to high 11's easily. Problem is shelby gave it bad tires, it has too much power and cant get any traction off launch, but if it did it can easily get maybe high 10's if it tried.
@DarkHour404 You're right the Supersnake does make more hp than the C6 Z06 and you're right the tires suck but stock for stock the C6 Z06 is the better performer (straight line, course performance and economy). The C6 Z06 with drag radials only is in several videos running 10s, no other supporting mods. I haven't seen that from the Supersnake.

Stock by stock a vette will beat the gt500 in the circuits even the base c6 will beat it, don't the c6 will beat the Shelby in a straight line but I will tag along very close. As for myself I would take a Z06 over this without even thinking about it, doesnt matter if there is a Shelby with 30k in upgrades and faster than my Z06, it is still a mustang and I would still have a better car, it is just in another level.

I've been collecting magazines of various publications as well as worked(past) for a Mazda/Ford dealer and never seen/heard of a stock Mustang of any type get to 60 in less than 4.5 seconds or doing the 1/4 in less than 12.7 seconds.

Yes, Vettes have better gas mileage, for example the GS gets on average 16 city/26 hwy vs the GT500's 14 city/22hwy. No, the 2011 GT500 which has more power( an increase of 10hp) and 100lbs lighter was recently tested and the best 0-60 was an unimpressive 4.5 seconds and a 1/4 in 12.7 @ 115mph. The re-engineering that Ford has done to the 2011 Stang translates to an increase of 10hp(GT500). I know the GT has significant hp increase up to 412hp on premium fuel and 400 on the regular. The downside to that is having to use the more expensive stuff to make less power than the competiton.
Ur right im wrong, i apologize. I looked it up the 2010 shelby is 14/22 mpg. But i swear the sticker said 19/35. I know she can do better than 22 on hwy with me driving ne ways. Those new parts work well. They posted consistant 3.0 seconds faster than 2010 shelby on a 2.3 mile track. and lateral g's get too 1.00. I dont think the 2011 Gt mustang is ganna b ne more expensive than 2010. If u mean the motor is more $ and makes 19 less hp. Thats not enought to me and i want that $ in there
Its alright opology excepting. We all make mistakes. Ford definately has made great strides with the Stang in the last couple of years and commend them for it. They need to ditch the live axle and use independant rear, that would definately enhance the peformance along with the big power.

@sokhbooker HAHAAHh The only way your regular C6 can beat a GT500 is if you have an extra 10 gs under the hood, the GT%00 is a clone and has a 6 cylinder, or the driver of the GT500 decides you arent worth the gas. GT500s and Zo6s go back and forth in the win category, both are awesome cars.

Im a ford fan but i would rather the z06. The gt500 is just too damn big and sloppy for me to take seriously on the track, the weight just destroys it. If they can just switch up that damn live axle and give it the 5.4 aluminum and not the 5.4 holy shit the damn things heavy, i wouldn't mind kicking some ass with it.
So far people are already finding similar 1/4 mile times with the 2011 5.0 N/A stang and statistics have proved that it whooped the camaros ass far worse than the gt500.

The z06 is more like a track runner where the gt500 is more of a body builder.
The 5.0 is a meanie, people actually found dyno numbers (both hp and torque) higher than chevy did with their 6.2. I wish they dumped the same bore into the 5.4, then we can have something similar to a 351. Just a tad smaller than 351 but hey, look at the older 5.0...
What are your thoughts about that 6.2 liter modular? That shits caught my attention with its torque.

@GigaMinion yah they could have done some things with the 5.4 to make it faster but its still way to heavy, they actually were going to stop the 5.4 and make it cast iron 5.0 gt500 but went with aluminum but thats really all they did. Theres been talk of bringing the 428 back out & svt making just cobras agian with 5.0 but w/e chevy will have to bringstuff out like the 6.2, they really are going to have to put more engineering into there engines than just making them big if 428s come out

after hearing that the gt500 uses a aluminum 5.4 i researched it and actually found that it weighs 8.5 lbs less than the 5.0 block. Yes i know, weird. The 5.4 is a bigger block and both are aluminum but i guess they made it out of some different cgi material probably. No clue why that is. Using the 6.2 modular i think they can bring back the 428. Only thing that made me mad about the 6.2 is that some say it wont fit in the stangs. Hopefully its bullshit though. Got any links?

Only the 2011 Shelby GT500 uses an aluminum block, like the Ford GT. 2007-2010 GT500s are iron blocks.

Yea, we kinda already got that concept by now. The new subject however is if they will replace the aluminum 5.4 in the gt500 (banana)with a iron 5.0 for weight saving. But that wont happen because the aluminum 5.4 is 8.5 lbs lighter than the 5.0 aluminum. So therefore we (spaghetti) wont have to replace the 5.4 aluminum (black jesus) in the gt500 for weight savings because its already lighter than the 5.0 aluminum and (fuck) will be way (shit my pants) lighter than the 5.0 iron. !

@GigaMinion that is crazy, but i think that bringing out a big block engine like the 428 or something on that scale would be nice to s/c them and with the engineering they're using to put souly into this 5.0 would be sick. The problum with the 6.2 not fitting is to put something like that into a mustang they have to make everything bigger and heavier, so a big engine in the mustang keeping the body style they have now, means they really have to pump out some hp/torque. nd ill look for some links

If we supercharged a 6.2, let alone a 7.0 the chev guys would bitch out of their ass. We dropped a SC on a 4.6 and it killed a ls1&2. The 5.4 SC killed all ls engines. Then they say that ford can't make a good engine without a SC. Then the 5.0 came out and killed the LS1, 2, and 3. Chev only knows how to make the engine bigger but that's it. They still believe 16V OHV engines produce more torque and power than OHC engines and all sorts of other miracle shit...

Can they hang with an LS2??? Absolutly not with even drivers but Ford is finaly moving in the right direction with weight distribution/aluminum block. IMO the last good car they made was the termi. The GT500 has proved itself to be a "on paper" car to this point. 2011 is a different story though.

motor trend actually found that the 412 hp that fords 5.0 liter has claimed (which is already higher than a ls1, ls2 and ls6) is actually under rated and the 5.0 actually makes 435HP (which is also higher than their new ls3.
The 5.0's cylinder heads also have a port that's soon to be tapped for direct injection. So if the ass whooping that ford is giving GM isn't sad enough, the 5.0 might even be making similar power to gm's ls7!
Oh, and its a modular block. Stronger than a ls block

@GigaMinion I agree that the 5.0 is underrated. Its a bad car! But that doesnt make it faster than even an LS2. We are talking a 13.0 second car compared to a 12.5 car stock for stock. I have a C6 Z06 and put down 425RWHP on a mustang dyno and ran 11.77 in the quarter in a 2200 DA. If you can compare the 5.0 to the LS7 you have no right to call anyone a "dumbass". Its one thing to be proud of the cars you love but be realistic. HP means nothing. You do not race a dyno.

I am comparing the LS2 in the C6 to the 5.0. Personally I'm not a big GTO fan. Good drivers are putting the 5.0 in the low 13's. Adding direct injection may improve gas mileage but will not add 70-80 HP. Now if they supercharge that thing and make another "terminator", that will be interesting.

As for direct injection, i don't have enough space to tell you why, but there are literally about 20 or so benefits as to why direct injection increases the fuel economy and power. (especially torque)

Your right, just watched the MT review and they got it to 12.8. Didnt know ppl were going that fast bone stock. Ive seen 2 at the track and they were mid 13's. No matter what I have alot of respect for that car.
LS2's were in C6's from '05-'07. I had an '06 and my best time was a 12.60 with only 3 passes with the car. Our track is 1100ft and never been there in a good DA. The LS3's are a bit faster.
A guy put a stock Z06 in the 10's but that doesnt mean I have a 10 sec car.

I drive diesel. I like the diesels because of something wired differently about me.

Not trying to be combative but u have to be a pretty good driver to put a car under factory spec or motortrend. Not sure if u are a racer but alot of ppl are a .3-.5 slower than factory/motortrend spec. Then there are drivers that blow those #'s out of the water but if you get a 5.0 dont expect to be in the 12's unless u have good bit of experience.
There was a Z06 at the track that couldnt get past 12.3 and was frustrated because he thought he had a 11.7-11.8 car. haha

yea, these times vary with experience. Different cars work in different ways but there's no "Magic" to make a car faster than another. As for the 10 sec vette, ranger did that with slicks. Positive its bullshit though but common sense would tell you that anyone who rides their car more than they ride their women (like this guy) can get a car of similar specs and mods to reach similar times. There's no "magic" behind a car (as proven by the 12.3 guy) just the car and your experience.

@thetravdawg really where does it say that? supersnake puts down 750RWHP(640-680 on dyno). It does a 1/4 in low to high 11's easily. Problem is shelby gave it bad tires, it has too much power and cant get any traction off launch, but if it did it can easily get maybe high 10's if it tried.

The C6 Z06 with drag radials only is in several videos running 10s, no other supporting mods. I haven't seen that from the Supersnake.
Question how does it make 750rwhp when on the dyno it makes quote "640-680"?? Don't you mean 750 brake hp and 640-680rwhp? That sounds right.

Stock by stock a vette will beat the gt500 in the circuits even the base c6 will beat it, don't the c6 will beat the Shelby in a straight line but I will tag along very close. As for myself I would take a Z06 over this without even thinking about it, doesnt matter if there is a Shelby with 30k in upgrades and faster than my Z06, it is still a mustang and I would still have a better car, it is just in another level.

@ZR1Terror Base vettes wont beat a Shelby unless the Shelby driver cant hook up, you can see this on track after track , you need a c6 Zo6 to run with a Shelby. Problem is the stereotypes with vettes in general. i like them but the stygmas that follow them ( young guys in vettes are compensating and older guys in vettes are in a midlife crisis) . Sad . Id rather have the Shelby,, you can run with or outrun a Zo6 and you dont have the stereotype following you around.

But the Z06 is totally on another level, Z06's do 10.8 in the quarter mile with only drags, and in the track well forget it, it posted better times than the Ferrari F430

Mustang has better gas for one and 800 more lbs cuz of that second row seats and all the other things i mentioned.Iv seen a a 2010 shelby in stock form run 0-60 in 4.1 and 1/4 in 12.3 but besides that i said speen not acceleration. Yea might be 700-800 heaivier and longer gears but still 540hp vs 400hp 2009 version it does take it on most highway runs unless u hit more that 155mph when the shelbys limiter kicks in. 2010 vette i dont know, they have 430 hp and i have seen one yet

I've been collecting magazines of various publications as well as worked(past) for a Mazda/Ford dealer and never seen/heard of a stock Mustang of any type get to 60 in less than 4.5 seconds or doing the 1/4 in less than 12.7 seconds.

Yes, Vettes have better gas mileage, for example the GS gets on average 16 city/26 hwy vs the GT500's 14 city/22hwy. No, the 2011 GT500 which has more power( an increase of 10hp) and 100lbs lighter was recently tested and the best 0-60 was an unimpressive 4.5 seconds and a 1/4 in 12.7 @ 115mph. Keep the excuses coming, I'm enjoying them.

The re-engineering that Ford has done to the 2011 Stang translates to an increase of 10hp(GT500). I know the GT has significant hp increase up to 412hp on premium fuel and 400 on the regular. The downside to that is having to use the more expensive stuff to make less power than the competiton.

Ur right im wrong, i apologize. I looked it up the 2010 shelby is 14/22 mpg. But i swear the sticker said 19/35. I know she can do better than 22 on hwy with me driving ne ways. Those new parts work well. They posted consistant 3.0 seconds faster than 2010 shelby on a 2.3 mile track. and lateral g's get too 1.00. I dont think the 2011 Gt mustang is ganna b ne more expensive than 2010. If u mean the motor is more $ and makes 19 less hp. Thats not enought to me and i want that $ in there

Its alright opology excepting. We all make mistakes. Ford definately has made great strides with the Stang in the last couple of years and commend them for it. They need to ditch the live axle and use independant rear, that would definately enhance the peformance along with the big power.

The C6 Z06 (with the 7.0L) does 0-60 in 3.5sec, traps higher speeds, 198mph top speed, better handling, better in every way compared to the GT500.
Don't believe me, look at Motortrend, the source you want to use, they will tell u the same thing!

Thought we were talking the base LS3 vette. Yeh, a Shelby needs a couple upgrades to beat a C6 Zo6. Im NOT a fanboy , I do call it like it is. A C6 Zo6 is a monster no doubt. Id still rather have the Shelby, as you can just up the pulley, add a CAI and a tune, all around 1,700 bucks, and beat a C6Zo6. Stock to stock? yes, the Z will win but not by much. It should though for the money you pay. A Z driver better hope that Shelby beside him doesnt have a pulley, cai and a tune. It could be ugly..

A ZO6 shits all over the GT500.A base Vette is quicker,has better braking,pulls higher g's and quicker through the slalom than any Mustang.The numbers for a base Vette are 190mph topend, .99g's on skidpad, 69mph through the slalom, braking from 60 in 110 ft and 1/4 mile in 12.3 @116 mph and that is nothing compared to the ZO6 which significantly better something like topend of @ 200mph,slalom @ 70mph,braking from 60 in 100-104ft,1.05g's on the skidpad and 1/4 mile in 11.4 @127.1mph.
