  • thats a nice setup but for pro i would say djm800 just like you but 2 cdj 1000 now cdj 2000

  • hej dj rude so ill need a cdj 350 400 850 900 2000( the once with usbs) to use my cdjs as midi controllers? so if i lets say have a cdj 1000mk3 with no usb ill need a time coded cd? and plug my laptop in with acr too the mixer?

  • hey Rude... Digital Wiz here

    have a macbook pro

    2 Pioneer CDJ850 -

just watched your video realize the cdjs carry soundcards..

    connected everything like you said

however a small problem... virtualdj seems to read be reading the same sound card.. not seeing any difference or number in the different options for 2 soundcard (Pioneer 850) shown for both no difference so i assume it is the same.. sound comes only from on channel too... any ideas how i can get both soundcards to be picked up?

  • @RudeDog66 I also will be using a seperate amp and loudspeakers.

    Thanks.

  • @ RudeDog66 Dude your video is pretty cool.

    Help me here...

    I have 2 NDX800's,

    4channel analogue mixer,

new Sony Vaio laptop with 4 usb ports.

2 usb cables, that came with the ndx800s.

So what else do i need to use Virtual dj 7 pro ?

    Thanks.

  • We have connected cdj 400 with Vdj but it has nothing to do with computer sound card right? The sound that goes out to the mixer uses Cdj soundcard am I right?

  • Can cdj-800 work with traktor scratch pro ?

  • what is the track playing in start ?

    Sorry for my english

  • hallo, do you need a hub or not ?

  • who software for montage for this video ??

  • Hey one quick question

I have some friends that use the "sync" button and they argue tgat they dont think they can use it, they want to know before they buy this equiptment can u use the sync button?

  • Should the USB hub be powered?

  • wait. You mean I don't need my Serato box when I'm using my cdj400's?

  • @jmjohnso45 No, it is natively supported so no timecodes or box is needed!

    DJ RuDe

    Keep Spinnin '!!

  • @RudeDog66 You are wrong, if you want to use Serato Scratch Live with the CDJ-400/850/900/2000 you will still need the Serato box but you will not need the time code disc. It doesn't control Serato via midi but though HID which is something that Pioneer created. You will still need the Serato box to make Serato active and to transfer the audio to your mixer.

  • @MikeyBreaks We were not talking about Serato Scratch Live, this video is about Virtual DJ. Some people still don't understand that CDJ-400/350/900/2000s don't need a sound card with VDJ because these CDJs have their own sound card built in. However I did a video about using these CDJs with Serato Scratch Live and in the video I explain that you must have a Serato box like my SL3. That video is here on my channel if you look through my list of videos.

  • @RudeDog66 Very good introduction but I have a question. I have virtual dj on my laptop and a numark 2 channel mixer along with 2 numark axis cdjs but have a stereo receiver and some technics regualr speaker wire type speakers for now. Can any of this be used/setup? I will be getting powered amp speakers soon but just wanted to know if any of that could be used just messing around at home? BigbQ45@yahoo. Thanks again

  • my tl850 has no usb hub so i can't connect it to virtual dj? :(

  • @ringdingdol Then you will need a Virtual Vinyl or Serato box with timecode CDs for it to work.

    DJ RuDe

    Keep Spinnin'!!

  • so, my tl850 has no usb gate so i can't connect it to virtual dj? :(

  • Hi I live in Acapulco. Very good explanation I am struck by the video editor you used

  • Buen video, good video, a favoritos

  • I'd never used CDJ400's, I thought they were shit. I'd rather just use CDJ's on their own without a computer.

Just one question though when using CDJ400's in HID mode on Virtual DJ do you get by default on VDJ "Jog Wheel- loop out" function or do you have to adjust the midi settings for "Jog Wheel- loop out" function. On a CDJ800 MK2 I'd do a loop then while in search mode (not vinyl mode) I'd tap loop out then turn the Jog Wheel to reduce the loop to a stutter, then pitch slide it & release

  • whats the point of getting a cdj just for a midi controller?

  • Have a Latency recommendation?

  • thx..hehe

  • La cancion que dice alcohol... drugs... es de Le castle vania, lo amo! ;D

  • thank you very much for the great video, you know your stuff mate.

  • I agree as a dj I have to use my own custom set-up, it's like riding someone else's skateboard in a contest, and the trucks are too loose, you're gonna skate like shit. same goes for mixing, I love my cdj 400's I LOVE EM

  • i have a cuestion where can i connect my hard drive '' music box'' since my lap top has only 2 connection for USV cable. thanks

  • nice video, but i have i cuestion, where can i conect my hard drive ''music box'' since my lop top has only 2 conetion for USV cable. thanks!

  • che cuanto cuesta esa maravilla de mezcla colega?un saludo

  • hello there..nice video man...also can you please tell me the name of the song please?

  • @hercules1924 Which one? Many have asked about the songs. Look through the comments to find the answers. Thank you

  • so there is no way to plug the djm 400 to vdj without SSL?

  • @Samsunglee93 No, you need a software controller like my CDJ-400s not a DJM-400 which is a mixer. You do not need an SSL box for VDJ when using CDJ-400, 350, 900 & 2000s...

  • Can you tell me the song in the background pleass ??

  • Omg I love u I didn't know it had built it sound cards, I was about to buy a serrato sound card, u saved me a whole lot of trouble thanks!

  • @terminatorjcpwns Your welcome!!

    DJ RuDe

  • NAAAAAAAAAAISE"D! from holland!

  • NAAAAAAAAAAISE"D!

  • Thank you so much for the post! I need help. My cdjs 400 are acting as one sound card. so when i hit play or cue on one they both play or stop. Do you know where in my set up I have messed up?

  • do i need drivers?

  • Crap, that looks like a heavy set up?

  • @SingJiya Depends on your idea of heavy?! I personally love it and feel like a lot is missing when I'm using someone else's stuff. I custom built and designed it to my exact standards and desires.

    DJ RuDe

  • what software did you use to maake the voice and effects at the beginning?

    nice tutorial

what's the diference between going digital or normal?

  • what software did you use to maake the voice and effects at the beginning?

    nice tutorial

  • how much do they cost

  • can you still sync/autosync??

  • So you don't need a external sound card like in Serato?

  • Will the CDJ 400 display track information and so on on the display or does it just say "PC MODE" when in Virtual DJ?

  • thank god you dont have a mac nice set up to (:

  • @shuffle953 Thanks but I actually have been using a Mac since may of this year. I made this video August of 2009. I still use my PC for Virtual DJ but for Serato it's all Mac...

    DJ RuDe

  • @RudeDog66 nice but i really dont like macs just my say (:

  • extraodinario e incleible vídeo chapo!!aupa los el virtual dj y sus virtudes

  • @djromeo0069 Muchas gracias ey!

  • hello please let me how much would it cost your setup?

  • @mikhailcalamba2012 About $3300 USD plus tax for just the software, the Pioneer CDJ-400's and the Pioneer DJM-800. The laptop cost another $1300 plus tax and of course the speakers and other audio equipment cost a lot more...

  • ok i have ..the hercules RMX and I connected two cdj 800s to the RMX. I am using virtual Dj. Using the time codes everythign runds fine. But i want to be able to mix regular CD's as through the RMX. How would I do that?

  • do we need to download anything ??

    drivers or anthing ??

  • @MrTengkuFaris Go to the Pioneer Pro DJ website to download the latest drivers for your CDJ-400, then download the trial of VDJ from their website. Don't use a pirated version because they are full of bugs... It's worth the $300 to buy this versatile program...

    DJ RuDe

  • does connecting the cdj 900 the same?

  • does connecting the cdj 900 the same?

  • @LewlCat Yes, it is the same type of configuration...

  • can u have a cd loaded in deck a and b while the software is workin just in the event the computer crashes and quickly switching over to the cd to avoid a loss of sound?

  • @tomasthetank1 Yes, as a matter of fact I always do have a CD loaded just in case. I've only had a crash at a gig once and I was ready to go...

  • can u have a cd loaded in deck a and b while the software is workin just in the event the computer crashes and quickly switching over to the cd to avoid a loss of sound

  • if i buy DJM400 can it connect to virtual DJ??

  • @sheunghyun No, the Pioneer DJM-400 is not a MIDI mixer

  • are cdj 400's any good for scratching ?

  • @lildude202 Yes, they are pretty good...

  • fucking stupid intro, good video

  • @TheDjBrynny Who cares? Why bother leaving a comment if you're going to be negative. I think the intro is cool which is why I did it... lol

However thx for the positive comment on the main part of the video...

    DJ RuDe

  • what soundcard can i use?

  • @JaIrN The CDJ-400 has it's own built-in soundcards

  • que version del virtual tienes?

  • @carmadj En este video estoy utilizando la versión 6.0.1, ahora estoy usando la versión 6.1

  • I missed where you set up the cdj as a HID controller... I don't think you covered that

  • @djlowtek You don't have to do anything except plug the CDJ-400 into your computer, push the USB button and VDJ automatically finds it, it's all covered

  • hey man, nice video, plenty of information, but I was just wondering if you could do this with a Behringer DDM4000 mixer, with a mac?

  • @evinkays yes but that would be a whole different video...

  • does it matter whether you have a mac or a pc?

  • @Lesinotto Yes, you can use either one but the setup is a different process. I will do a video using my Mac some day...

  • what if you have a mac?

  • what if you have a mac?

  • i was wondering how do you hook them up to vdj while still being able to use roll, jet wah etc (the cdj effects) ive tried it with version 5.2 and 6 but both don't let me use it........they just turn into hot cues.......any help would be appreciated, thanks

  • wow great video! how do you render your videos to get such good quality?!

  • Did u use the ASIO4all driver?

  • @djdannyz1 Yes, that's what I always use

  • @djdannyz1 where can u download the asio drivers, when i load vdj, it says "error with asio driver"?

  • I got my cdj 800s on my cpu with serato working but for some reason I cant only loops beats and change BPM through virtual DJ,not through my turntables, any ideas how I cud fix that?

  • DJ Rude I love the videos. I had a question I just recently purchased Virtual DJ. How can I get my mixer to work with Virtual DJ? My mixer is the NUmark HDMIX. I really don't wanyt want to buy another mixer I want to be able to use my mixer.

  • alkohol, drugs, rave is king, fuck YEA

  • when i can download the audio controler ASIO for MAC????

  • @JANCHAPELA ASIO doesn't work on Mac

  • when i can download the audio controler ASIO for MAC????

  • Hey DJ Rude i sent a message to your youtube inbox, Please check it out and reply ASAP...Thanx

  • Do you need to install any drivers in order for them to work with virtual dj? if so can u please post a link? Thanx :)

  • does the CD J-800 also work like this?

  • No, only CDJ-400s, 900s & 2000s will work because they are USB/MIDI/HID controllers. CDJ-800 & 1000s do not have USB control. You can however use a timecode solution to make it work

  • @RudeDog66 so how would I be able to connect my set to virtual dj?

  • @RudeDog66 so how would I be able to connect my CDJ-800 to virtual DJ?

  • @RudeDog66 So like I saw this guy using a time code solution for this on another video but it was unclear to whether I needed a usb port in my CDJ-800's

  • @RudeDog66 So like I saw this guy using a time code solution for this on another video but it was unclear to whether I needed a usb port in my CDJ-800's

  • does the CDJ-800 also work like this?

  • @ef6854 With CDJ-800s there is no USB so you will need a timecode solution such as Numark's Virtual Vinyl or a Serato SL-1, these have a USB interface that controls the software

  • @RudeDog66 Cheerz mate!

  • @RudeDog66 Cheers mate!

  • does the cdj800 also work like this?

  • Please! i hava a problem...my two cdj400 sound in 1 line only!!! help me please!

  • @JANCHAPELA Did you get it figured out? Sorry I didn't see your post, this new Youtube format sucks!!

  • Please! i hava a problem...my two cdj400 sound in 1 line only!!! help me please!

  • whats the diference between going digital or cd\line?

  • Digital requires a different plug whereas standard RCA plugs work in the CD/Line jack

  • Hey i have a question . When normaly playing my cdj's400 the second time i press play the music stops and i can go through the song and listen to every beat . But when i connect them to VDJ it's like my jogwheel is always on vinyl and i don't know what to change in VDJ . I want to change it so i can finds the first drum in the song with search button (also the search button searches +40 in pc mode and +1 in normal mode so how can i make it +1 in pc mode ( please help me )

  • bad beatmixed at around 0:49

  • That's called staggering, it's not a bad beatmix. Staggering gives the sound a more echoing effect by adding a slight delay rather than a flanging effect which is more tightly beatmatched with even less delay.

You're not the only one who has mentioned that but there are more ways than one to make sound effects other than using the mixers effects or buttons on the software interface. That's the way we did it with vinyl and it still works with CD & MP3.

    DJ RuDe

    Keep Spinnin'!!

  • oh so it was on purpose? ahh sorry, okay now you learnt me something staggering i should remember that now ;P thx

ive been Spinning for 5 years now and still didnt know that ^^ staggering i should try it out ;P

  • With Virtual DJ you only need one hard drive for both CDJ-400s to share. Without software then you would need two because they don't link.

    DJ RuDe

  • Your video was awesome but i have one question where do plug in your headphones so u can here the next song you will cue up ?

  • Into my Pioneer DJM-800 mixer

  • so how do u cue up your next song ?

  • Using Virtual DJ with the CDJ-400s is exactly the same as using CDs or Vinyl. The music doesn't play through the laptop top, it plays through the CDJ-400s so that you can connect them to a mixer which is connected to your amp & speaker system. The laptop is only used to control the software and provide the music, it then passes through the CDJs like as if it were CDs...

    DJ RuDe

    Keep Spinnin'!!

  • Wenn du den Pitch Regler auf dem Pioneer CDJ 400 Bewegst bewegt der sich dann auch in VDJ ?

  • Ja, es bewegt sich

  • can i do this with ANY cdj?

  • No, only CDJs that are USB/MIDI capable otherwise you will need a timecode solution.

    DJ RuDe

  • @RudeDog66

So if I had a timecode CD in my CDJ that wasn't usb compatible, it'd be the same in a sense of hooking up any turntable with a time coded vinyl?

  • Yes, that's correct but you will need the timecode CDs as well as the interface box, such as a Serato SL1 or Numark Virtual Vinyl...

    DJ RuDe

  • Would this work the same if i was using virtual dj in mac ?

  • Yes, you can use a MAC

  • Would this work the same if i was using Virtual dj in Mac ?

  • Would this work the same if i was using Virtual dj in Mac ?

  • Would this work the same if i was using Virtual dj in Mac ?

  • Would this still work if i had serato sl3 plugged in aswell ??

  • Yes, it passes through the Serato SL3

  • i hooked up my pioneer cdj 400 to my computer and am using virtual dj and i am playing the music and controling the music with the mixer like the volume and stuff but it doesnt let me use my cdj's to scratch or cue or anything, what do i do?????

  • If you want to play CDs you have to put your CDJ-400s in CD mode. If that doesn't work it's because you don't have your 400s connected to an external amp & speakers. CDs will not play through the computer!

    DJ RuDe

  • i plugged in my pioneer cdj 400's to the computer and am using virtual dj but it doesnt let me use my actual cd's i can play the music from my speakers and my mixer but i cant use my cdjs. what do i do??

  • Can you Connect 2 Stanton C.314's and use that for laptop DJing?

  • You will need to use a timecode solution such as a Serato box & time code CDs or virtual Vinyl since the C314 is not a USB MIDI controller.

  • dobre!

    obczaj moje

  • virtual dj è la rovina del mondo dei DJ

  • Could you use the effect of your mixer to?

  • Yes, you can!

  • hey thanks for this video its great lots of good info! but i had a good question for you...i was lookin to purchase two cdj 400's and wasnt sure what mixer i should get with it djm 400 or djm 700? which one is better? also is the serato sl1 same as serato sl3 what is the diff? will they both work the same as shown in the video?? if you could please let me know thanks so much!

  • I would get the DJM-700 of the 2 due to the effects and extra channels. The difference between the Serato SL1 and SL3 is is 24 bit sound over 16 bit, USB 2.0 over 1.1 and the ability to record or add a third deck as well as the SP-6 sample player.

    DJ RuDe

  • PLEASE I NEED HELP!! my vdj keeps freezing with my cdjs plauuged in what do i do?

    how can i fix it?

  • RAVE IS KING

    DJ RuDe

    Keep Spinnin'!!

  • ok thanks man..im moving from vinyl to cd and cant waiiiiit..thanks man :)

  • @RudeDog66

thats what i have and its amazing

  • well good.

  • Yes, as long as it is MIDI capable. Virtual DJ allows instant plug and play with any MIDI controller.

    DJ RuDe

  • man the ram indicator is going crazy on your vdj toshiba set up what the hell was it doing in the background?

  • Probably running my p2p program... why?! lol

  • thanks rude this vid helped alot do u know wea to ghet a midi to usb?

  • You can pick up an M-Audio MidiSport Uno for about $39 US at the Guitar Center. What do you need it for? I'm using mine for my DJM-800

    DJ RuDe

  • hey i wanted 2 run my mixer with virtual dj and both chanels on each chanel how do i go about it midi cord or what?

  • No, the signal processors are not needed at all for your RMX, or mixer or anything. I only use them to add reverbs and harmonies to vocals in karaoke. Your EQ processes the output sound frequencies, that way you can contour the spectrum of sound for the room you're plying in.

I have a dbx DriveRack auto-EQ with a RTA mic that does this automatically.

Don't worry about DSPs, they are superfluous and not needed for your application.

    DJ RuDe
