Anybody know or have the "Heart of California"- promo/commercial from around this time(or maybe earlier 80s)?? Im pretty sure it was a spot for Channel 10 and Sacramento around this time. Been looking for it forever. Cant find it. If somebody has more of these KXTV 10 reels, firgured it might just be tucked into one of them. If anyone has it or can share, it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! If you need any further description of it, just msg me and Ill give you all the info. Thanks!
@videonut33 No. Blame a company called Corinthian Broadcasting. Belo bought most of Corinthian's stations (WISH-TV and WANE-TV had to be sold off to meet ownership caps) in December 1983. A similar style logo was in use at KHOU until that station's 1988 upgrade to Spirit of Texas; one at WVEC lived to see the year 1992.
WANE-TV (no 1980s footage) probably had a similar 15 logo at the time. WISH had a chubby 8 with a broken center, and KOTV kept its 6 until 1995.
Yeah, I think Jennifer's now (or soon will be) in her 30th (!) year at KXTV. Wow. Way to keep on truckin', Jennifer. Your longevity alone is to be admired.
Ah. Just wanted to make sure. And for those who didn't know there were 2 Spirit themes (both with the exact same name, TM in '84 and Stephen Arnold in '96)

Without question, she is the most admired and respected anchor still on the air in Sacramento.

Jennifer Smith is still going strong.

Jennifer Smith is very pretty. Still is. I'm so surprised that she didn't get a network offer.

You sure WVEC used the Spirit theme? (Can't find it on the NMSA page)

George Warren & Jennifer Smith are both still at KXTV, now an ABC affiliate & different ownership, too.

So, the introduced "The Spirit of California" theme in 1985? How long did the theme before this last?
ASKconard 4 years ago
unclear. NMSA only has records going back to 1985
cllewis1 4 years ago
I think it was introduced earlier, about late 1984.

Yeah, the theme debuted in 1984 on WFAA, along with the Spirit of Texas slogan. KHOU has used it since 1986.
