The US Government & CIA were debating really hard as to which family to sacrifice for this Grand-Delusion.
Firefighter's family or Policeman's Family.
Finally they decided to go for a policeman's family, and put a remote-controlled-accelerator on your car, much like how they did 911, sacrificing 3000 lives.
If you think Toyota would recall these vehicles without prodding from the NHTSA, you're wrong. They would have kept on building cars and ignoring the problems. They would be perfectly happy if you keep buying their deathtraps. GM/Ford are the best.
Toyota is now a synonym for Jap's stubborness in admitting ANY wrong doing... be it in their designs, their past imperial wrongdoing to all its neighbours and any wrong doing by their Emperor Hiroshito who was never punished for his deeds in WW2.
Japanese culture does not allow them to lose face so publicly ... the ONLY Honourable thing for a Jap to do is commit suicide for his own honour's sake... Funny Hirohito was too coward to show such honour. Shameless as Toyota is now.
I think this is grounds to nuke those Jap bastards again

Toyota - "Moving Forward" - Even when you let your foot off the gas pedal..
Toyota - "Moving Forward" - Even when you stomp on the brakes..
Toyota - "Moving Forward" - Even when you shift into neutral & pull the E-brake.
Toyota - "Moving Forward" - Until it slams into the back of a semi-truck @ 110 mph

Lahood doesn't know whether the recall will be taking place, because NHTSA has not been successful in reproducing the "runaway" incident.
What are they gonna say?

This is what happens when the US government owns 60% of GM stocks.
