  • Yeah, I just bought this morning, and gonna play it tonight for the first time! It's really a rock classic hihat cymbal! I want to buy a entire 2002 kit, this HH is the first member of the family!

  • @ldsbatera

the 2002 SE HH is the last 2002 cymbal I have in my setup - all others are Signatures or New Signatures (Dark Energy). I had a 2002 Powerride 22", but I sold that one some years ago... If you can get one, listen to a 20" Thin Crash from the 2002 series - that is an awful good cymbal!

  • I just bought a 2002 sound edge HH and I'm really happy!

  • @ldsbatera ...congrats! You will not be disappointed - the 2002 SE is such a classic - I'm in love with mine since I bought them way back in 1989... did you buy it new?

  • Nicest hats I've ever played in the studio, but they were not mine. I found them yesterday. Just a classic hihat with the perfect sound for recording.

  • Nice washy sound.

  • wheres the logos? does it sound much different if in person without anyy mics or anything, just your ears?

  • I bought this pair of HH cymbals way back in 1984 - and I played them alot over these 25 years. The red logo on the top cymbal is almost gone - the bottoms logo is totally intact.

The sound on the recording is very near to the sound you hear when playing it in person - that was why I used neutral mics and a mic distance similar to the distance when playing. When you use a mic in a near position the sound is a little more cutting (depending on type and position).

  • what do you mean these HH cymbals, arent the 2002 Paiste's?

  • HH = HiHat (I believed this abbreviation was common enough...).

  • lol, actually it is and ive even used that before, i really dont know why i didnt remember that

  • haha he was probably thinkg of sabian HHx cymbals.. not supprised at a mistake like that... those are some nice cybals though... in that condition and that old... worth some real money my friend

  • yes - I have played this pair of hihats for so long that I can not really part from it. The top cymbal has a slight keyhole, but othe than that they are in perfect shape and sound fantastic!

  • It's also a line of Sabian cymbals; that's what I thought you meant when I first read the comment.
