This will be Ron Paul's last election. In 2016, assuming his son Rand Paul doesn't run, Gary Johnson will get the support of ALL the Paul supporters as well as the people who were scared off by Paul's more extreme views. I don't have anything against his son, Rand Paul, but I hope that Gary gets a chance in the next two elections. One to build up a name for himself, and a second to actually win the damn thing.
I do wonder what would happen if Johnson and Paul were to join forces, and pledge that whoever won, they'd make the other their VP? They'd campaign as a joint team. There are probably good reasons for both to not do that, but it's an interesting scenario.
@atoku0: i agree with you on those points about ron paul being on team johnson. i have this to add: between paul and johnson, paul makes a better VP and johnson a better president given their backgrounds. we sure could use ron paul's legislative experience at the head of congress, just like we need the executive and economic experience of johnson as president. let ron paul reduce the number of bills for gary johnson to veto and discard and see how efficiently things turn around.
@gbeaton12 three wars and he stole from Social Security to balance the budget Good ole Clinton has his fair share of corruption. But in comparison to every President since and most recent presidents before, he was definitely the least bad one.
Gary Johnson is AWESOME!!!! Grass roots everyone, Post Gary Johnson all over the net!!! Get his name out there....The media isnt going to help, they want airheads!
IMO voting in Congress and having it do nothing is different than actually implementing a free market, pro-civil liberties business approach to government. Gary had states' rights as a platform when he first ran for Governor of New Mexico. I'm not trying to diminish Ron Paul, but it's not fair to say that either of them is unprincipled.
Gary is Cool from what I have seen but Ron Paul has a proven record for voting for the constitution. He has fought the face of ignorance for so long and it is now his time for the people to really understand what freedom and liberty are really about. He proves how honest he is by the way he stands up for his viewpoint and never wavers. Even today the media is giving him crap on the fema issue and making him seem careless about the people but stil he stands firm on the issue.
@puffyrock22 Yeah, I rather like Clinton's history of economic growth and peacefulness, but I think he still fits where he does: both Clinton and Reagan left office with a sex scandal hanging over their heads. Kinda makes the point that it doesn't matter whether you're Republican or Democrat.
This is why we want win. We all need to do our research on the 2 canidates and deside on 1 and stick with them. I am for the best qualified. Pro Cannabis Hemp, every human has rights no matter the color or creed.
What I really would be happy to see if Ron Paul honestly would say that he is withdrawing and become a member of Gary's team. In this case it could be 1)huge P.R. for Gary, all the support from Ron Paul would go to him 2) huge news 3) much better chances with formal successful executive and younger candidate.
Would be a shame if Ron Paul lost somewhere by the few votes that Gary Johnson might pull. During this critical time in history lets all get together behind the one Liberterian that has a chance - Ron Paul,
Anybody else think the music was just terrible? I know they can't afford The Who, but come on! Not only did it sound bad, it didn't seem to mesh with the attitude of the video at all. Good idea, just bad execution IMO.
Congrats to Gary on hitting 2% in the latest CNN poll and being tied with former candidate of the hour Herman Cain. Rick Santorum and Huntsman are both at 1%. You deserve to be at the next debate Gary!
Ron Paul is distinctly made his position on race very clear and actually has a view to protect people from religion more than any moderate has. "Libertarianism is the opposite of racism, its anti-racism. Putting people into categories and groups is a collectivist idea (statist idea), we as libertarians, do not believe in rights for gays, or black, or rich, or poor, we see people having rights because they are individuals." Also watch: watch?v=2eiR_U8vhIo&feature=channel_video_title
@PissedFechtmeister: Unfortunate because it doesn't match your agenda or unfortunate because it is somehow relevant to his political positions? Ranting on and on against religion is the new religion.
@espada9 It's unfortunate because Creationism is nonsense. I hate to see a good man like Ron Paul suckered into believing such trash. It also feeds into the LSM's portrayal of him as a nut. However, it has no effect on his politics, which is a good thing (can't say the same for the mainstream Republican candidates though).
@PissedFechtmeister I don't understand that him believing is something that you don't is such a big deal. This man believes one way, but votes to keep his freedoms as well as others that want to believe different than him. Personally I think that Ron Paul shows great character. Gary Johnson shows that same character.
Put Ron Paul in there for a term with Gary Johnson as VP; maybe give him 2 terms. Then elect Gary Johnson for 2 more terms and see what his VP is like. That will correct it.
@PissedFechtmeister remember. It has taken about 100 years to get to this point. It could take us some time to get back. If we did everything we need to do, we could be fixed in a year or two. Lets be honest with ourselves. You still need to re-elect congress. You got some good ones in last time. Do it again this time.
I'm not voting for talkers any more. I want someone with a track record for freedom.
@PissedFechtmeister I neither agree nor disagree. My thoughts are that Ron Paul has all the momentum right now. Whatever happens in 2012, Gary Johnson would get all the Ron Paul supporters in 2016. Most at least. His time will come, but so long as Ron Paul is in the race, this year is not it.
@frionelhero That could well be. But Paul is running mainly on name-recognition, and the fact that he's more or less been running since at least 2007 gives him an edge. Johnson has more credibility as a candidate. Paul, I think, sees this election as his swan song, and since he has better numbers, probably doesn't see a reason to bow out to Johnson. Doesn't make it right, though.
@kraorh But if Paul left the race it doesn't mean all of his supporters would go for Johnson. We know this because the Libertarian candidate in 2008, Bob Barr, was banking on this strategy and it failed. He got less votes in the general election than Ron Paul got in the Republican primary. While I support a Johnson candidacy, not every Ron Paul supporter trusts him yet. Not saying its right, but it is the facts right now. As he stays on message, the supporters will come.
Kind of hard to compete with Dr. Paul's movie previews, but the message is cool. I'd like to see them both on the same ticket and kind of balance each other. Imagine that.
This rocks! And kudos for the Beatles reference! Governor, if you do become President, and if you find out that John Lennon was assassinated by the US Government, you will tell us, won't you?
Isn't it really funny that he didn't put Newt Gingrich in here and now he's practically a frontrunner. What a crazy race.

With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

"Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who. Kick-ass anthem for a revolution.

@EvanLord1 Yea but do you notice it sounds nothing like the original "Won't Get Fooled Again?" It's so to the point.

I was wondering the same thing. I've only figured out the lyrics are by The Who, but I like the sort-of remix of the instruments in this video more.
