  • I wouldn"t restore it to it's old glory...I would make it functional, driveable and run it at shows just like that. Have the old pics and the Posters shown along with the car...with the music playing in the background....be creative put a donation cup up front and see if people donate to the cause (just for Shits and giggles)

  • Oh wow! That is a very good find! In fairly good condition to!

  • Love it! Can't wait to see more.

  • Melt it!

  • nice 58 good luck with the Restoration

  • A good place to start. I'll be watching for the redo.

  • restorate it for 2000 on stuff and you will get 300,000 euros/dollar back

  • by the way my car is older than me...it's from 1987 and i was born in 1991... :D :P

  • i want to restore my car too...it's an 87 model, removing the cars paint so that i can re paint it in surfaces i see is easy, though i have no idea how to do parts that are not visible..i how can you remove rust that you cant reach?even if the car is only a shell?if anyone has an idea please help?and if i remove the rust with liquids that just make the rust "leave" how can i then paint these areas? anyone?it would be pretty useful information.thanks

  • any restore videos??

  • i'll have to film at my moms and dads. and post it.they have about 20 cars and they abandoned the house and left the cars old caddy's mustang, chevelles, pickups there's a 1953 gmc pickup and a 69 mustang convertable that i'm taking and i guess they are taking the jeep. but, all others are going for scrap.

  • @millwrght4ever Scrap?? are you freaking serious, sell them as is!

  • im 14 and i would be dso happy to get this car the way it is

  • @6824anthony where do you live?what state? i may be able to hook you up with a car. as long as you are serious and have help.

  • that car is awsome. im a big fan of old cars. my grandpa has a 1950 dodge pickup

  • The idea was to add as many "modifications as possible " to your car to get points in Shows. More mods,More points and a better chance at getting the trophy. Whether it looked OK was not important. Besides being chopped this car looks shortened too.

Rod and custom mag described these cars as "visual tunas" .

  • Well that is all sorts of awesome! I always am shocked how a purpose built show car ends up tattered like it was any ol' car. Love the gas and oil pinstriped cans in the original photos! PS; The left quarter needs blocked a little more...

  • PM me- i know a guy with an all tri-fives bone yard, and i can give you his number. he has tons of parts cars, most of them with really solid floors, trucks, rockers, and roofs. also has engines, transmissions, and anything else for that car you could need. just an idea....

  • @smithkid1996 im building a 55 can you give me your parts guys number?

  • Wow lovely car, must have seen lots of greasers !

  • I hope Someone dose her up right. Man the still still hold up.

  • Excuse my ignorance, but was this a Joe Bailon build?

  • beautiful!

  • i hope you have deep pockets and alot of talent. good luck!

  • something different l will give ya that but l preffer the old styles of the 57

  • What a amazing car it was, and will be after this car is custom 57 Chevy. I love those little details on the car. Very Cool!!!!!!!!!!!.

  • you get started on her yet

  • What a classic. She should be caressed and talked to like the classy lady she is.

  • Most of the hard stuff has been done. Sweet find!!

  • If you know about classic customs, you know this ride is priceless. Cant wait to see it finished!!

  • Cool, Someone have put a lot of work in to that.

  • that car will be beautiful when ur done. little imature kids dont understand our passion for cars

  • How does a car like that go from show condition to a rusted hulk.

  • @david929190 The Corona bottle explains it all.

  • wicked looking car, alot of rust, but who cares, good luck

  • FUCK NO! FUCK ITS WORTH IT IT HAS THAT LOW OF MILES.!?!?!??!

  • the front end was made for asains..

  • I have the original Hot Rod Magazine, with this car in it!!!

  • even for a honda guy like me I'm still into the classics this video sure brought some tears.

  • I bet that was one bugatti veyron of a ride back in the 1950's

    3:05

27k? Thats a damn shame right there.

  • a true legend right there....i remember seeing that car i n my dads mags

  • Where was it sitting in water

  • i think its cool ,,,must of been sitting for along time..? wonder why.

  • well maybe i might put some floors in it first then drive it lol

  • shoooooot i would drive it like that thats pretty sweet

  • cant wait to see her when its done =)

  • That thing must be bad ass its running on Corona! I'm kidding. I bet this thing will look great when its done.

  • WOW! I must have upset 2 of the 10 blind people that like it.

FWIW, i work in a bodyshop and do mechanical work. That car needs more than just "a little work" its one of those that is going to be started on and then pushed out back never to be seen again. Sorry, but i call them like i seem them. I think many other replies here are thinking the same, they are just trying to be nice. Better off to just part it out for whatever little is left that is usable.

  • @dodgeguyz I understand you work at a body shop but have you seen what else the have saved/restored? Its not a nickle and dime shop, they have done get work on a number of historic cars. You should check thier other vidoes.

  • @dodgeguyz fuck you, it's amazing. FYI All the bodywork is hand made fucktard. It's not junk or garbage. It's a piece of artwork.

  • i would turn it into a ratrod, fix the rust up,, easy

  • looks like it had a hard life after its show life..Would be great to see her back in the shape it was in the day

  • is that custom chevy bel air?

  • Put it in a demolition derby!!!

  • That thing is junk! It looked like crap back in the day and now it is just a shitty looking basket case!

  • @dodgeguyz Your an idiot with no taste, dodgeguyz, if you were a true car buff you would love it when an old find with some minor body work is found by someone who will restore it. Take the Dodge out of your name your not worthy.

  • All you dumb-witted little kids. This car is not a wreck, extremely far from it. Learn about car restoration, before running your mouths off.

  • @SeberHusky yeah, it still looks solid.new rockers and quarters are nothing.the rest looks straight.

  • @SeberHusky kids of today live in a disposable world im afraid... not their fault really, parents should really be held responsible for their idiot offspring.

  • Probably better to chop up a stock 57 then try to fix that. Theres plenty of them around.

  • It looks over done, even by the standards of the 1960's. One of the prettiest cars ever made ended up like this, which is pretty bad.

  • Comment removed

  • sad

  • God himself would through his hands up in the air over that dog.

  • Good Luck with that train wreck.

  • @Richiesmad its in pretty good shape your just a sissy

  • @the520koala I worked at a resto shop . That car or whats left of it is a train wreck . Nothing 100k wont fix. LOL

  • @Richiesmad not even you just need skills and hard work thats all

  • @the520koala You looking a at the least 40k in parts if or more. You don`t have a clue. Thanks for sharing.

  • @Richiesmad Oh and about 1000 hours

  • @Richiesmad ive seen worse come togeather for alot less then 40k

  • @Richiesmad dunno why you call it a train wreck needs a lil restoration but theres alot of potential with that car

  • me encantaria tener este coche es un gran coxe

  • i cried when i saw this.. haha

  • Ultra cool!

And by the way... Awesome choice of music.

  • Ultra cool!

  • Why turn a nice '57 Chevy 2-door sedan into such ugly thing?

  • @SportSuperBigblock another stock bodied tri-five = ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..........................................................

  • movie car

  • Man, that ol' lead work was great....well I hope you gotta darn good sandblaster, fritz!!...like the corona carburetor too

  • ugly then , uglier now, but COOL AS HELL !

  • not a pretty car but special

  • I could just see this ol girl cruising all the drive in's back in the 60s. Would be a sin not to bring her back!!!!

  • Wasnt this car shown at the World Of Wheels 2011?

  • some one did some work on that

  • that's one ugly custom classic lol great find though

  • I'd take her as she is. She looks agressive and ready for a fight.

  • She's still a classy lady...hope your restoration of this great old sled goes well!

  • whats the first song?

  • @rocsas2 Ballad of ole' betsy - The beach boys

  • WOW great needs little retouch and paint.... bring that thing in the road immediately please hehehe

  • Great find, Good Luck with bringing her back...

  • even though its beat up shes still a beauty.

  • Amazing find! Hows the restoration coming?

  • What is the name of the first song?

  • @esonaps , Ballad Of Ole' Betsy - The Beach Boys.

  • @esonaps Thank ya!

  • good luck restoring that

  • Who would let a car like this go the hell like

It did. I agree with the dopehead relative theory. Their is nothing to restore. The dashboard is all that's left & glass.

  • Hey ya found an old show car..way cool...hope ya didnt pay more than 500 bucks for it...restore price could be in the 100k range..good luck

  • Bring it all back ..... right down to the spot lights and dual four carbs !!! Mad Dad !!! Amazing Classic !!!

  • Is not, still restored?

  • beutiful car, sad :(

  • lmfao oil pressure gauge under the hood, i can picture someone stopping at a red light and popping the hood making sure they still had good oil pressure after a race

  • She'd make a sweet Rat Rod!!!!!!

  • too late

  • we need to save these classic beauties while they are still here. I've seen hundreds of these once proud beasts left for dead for these more fuel efficent shitboxes. Save american history.

  • thats real sad.

  • @hottrodmike I almost want to cry

  • I agree with Jgeneraledger23 ~ How is it possible that that a car that was, at one time, THAT nice was allowed to turn into a piece of shit? That's really kinda hard to believe. It looks like it's been around ALOT of salt. Geeeeeez.

  • I like the gas fill INSIDE the trunk. Very cool touch. :o}

  • This car reminds me of an old stripper ! , put a new paint job on her , and a fresh motor , and she will take off and excite us once again . i love her just as she is , but i know the right hands carressing her will bring her back to her real beauty ! . Ray in PA

  • wow!someone is gonna save her...wew!

  • my guess would be the original owner died and a drug addict relative inherited it and let it sit in the rain 30+ years

  • this song man! years 50

  • WTF? Was it under water for the last 20 years>?

  • I don't know guys. I think it will be too much work on it.

  • @MrWisebord For a classic custom that's fairly well known like this one, it'll be worth it.

  • can you tell me the name of the song? please greeting :)

  • Customs like this set the standard for others to follow. It's a real shame to see it in such a poor state, but looking at Fritz's work, it couldn't be in better hands.

For those screaming sacrilege, remember this car was just another new production car when it was customised, and hadn't earned the iconic status it has now.

  • Really sad the previous owner let it deteriorate like that. :(

  • I was a stupid kid(didn't know what I had in prodution 60/70 cars) But this is friggin amazing not to keep this car protected~One of a kind! What the hell where the morons that let it get like this thinking(or lack of)~Get a rope!!!

  • i live in kansas city too, wtf, i always run accross random car videos from kansas city.

  • Be nice to see this car restored . I have restored many. My question is . Who left it out to rot like it is? apparently not sheltered.

  • ecelente auto y ecelente cerveza mexicana coronita de 1/2 minuto 1.34

  • Is that all he had to drink before he backed it into a post?

  • GOOD WORK ON THIS OLD BEAUTY!!!

  • Huge amount of work done to fuck up a legend...

Seriously...that rear end... Can't figure what did the builder think :/

  • I wouldn't mind rattlecanning this flat black. It looks real nice and creepy just as it is.

  • she could be fixed up....she could be real tough....arnie cunningham

  • @ezescousin14213 lol, awesome comment :)

  • I would love to find such and astounding piece of work no matter what shape it was in! good job on attaining her and good luck with the restore! keep us posted pleeeeze!

  • I'm no Chevy fan, but I wish you all the best with this one. Use fresh sheet metal and take your time with it.

  • the front lights look exactly like a 1962 chrysler i had

  • A lot of time, hard work and money will be needed to get it back to its prime. But it would be worth it to see it in its former glory again. This beats any custom job of today's trend!

  • Tbh I dont think you can rescue her.Even tho it would be cool if you did. There is no floor, lots of rust..and WTF a beer in the engine?who would treat his car like that..

  • @MrArnoldCunningham the only thing this car has going for it is that it's STILL a 57 chevy and therefore anything that isn't custom can be replaced with NOS parts and what is custom can be replaced because someone had to build it in the first place so why can't this guy it's just like restoring a normal car but alot harder

  • @dartdude13 ikkk but it will cost him a fuckload ,asston, shitload of money.I mean ..look at it.its rusted...at least he can re-build doors from steel, weld it and mabe it'll fit.But idk look at the floor man.How can you repair the floor?

  • @MrArnoldCunningham well..... it depends on how determined he is, they make whole new 57 chevy bodies so i'm sure floors really won't be too bad as for the rest idk but look up the restoration of the very first general lee that thing was even worse and now it's pristine so anything is possible i guess

  • @dartdude13 aha...gladd to have u as a friend tho

  • WOW....did not know this still exists.....wow....that's fantastic! A SURVIVOR!!!!!!!!

  • awesome find

  • My Uncle built this car while working at Gerstners Collision and Custom paint in Williamsville NY in 1960. I have concept drawings of it before it was built.

  • I love seeing the early customs of the 1950's and 1960's just car the car looks rough doesn't mean with some love and Tlc it can't look beautiful again. To me all classic cars or beautiful.

  • can i buy it

  • Yes yes! Revamp her! Tho some of the original work shows now as a kind of chop job, much of that sort was done then.. front bumper mounts cut off the way they were, for example.. could have been done alot cleaner even then, but she was a great ride of her time. Nice work on the roof line tho, and the added port like antennae..wonder what the purpose to the fender vents was? I'd keep them vented, as it was customed that way, but make them marker lights.. maybe hi intensity beams..cool ride! :)

  • nooooooooooooo!!! what have they done to it?? :'(

  • salud con CORONA felicidadez

  • I'd love to get in on a project like this, i used to work in a car body shop where we specialised in custom paint jobs, bodywork and restoration, all we really got in were cars that stupid kids had crashed into hedges, but occasionally we'd get an oldschool vw camper in, we'd pretty much have to rebuild it from shell upwards. This project looks loads of fun

  • Seeing this reminds me of a 53 Ford convert my dad had when I was a kid. It was an early 60's custom with a completely different shaped grille opening and custom hand built grille. The rear wheel wells were radiused out and flared to match the front and it had front a rear roll pans with little nerf bars. It was faded blue with black or dark blue scallops. Also had rolled and pleated interior. It had sat for years when he got it. He sold it to a friend and the car is still sitting.

  • Cool you found that car... but really a shame to see it like that. Hope she gets the resto she deserves!

  • thats a waste of a 57 chevy if i ever seen one. looks like a ugly pile of shit

  • @revn57chevy Amen, brother! Before and after!

  • @revn57chevy I agree 100%

  • @revn57chevy just like u

  • @revn57chevy and so is the 2011 camero, but that doesnt stop those dumbass's from making them

  • @revn57chevy Well it was built 45-50 years ago, at that time 57' Chevs weren't concidered any more of a classic car then a 2005 Toyota would be now, just an old beater.

  • @OlegKostoglatov you're comparing a 2005 Toyota to a '57 Chevy? That's Blasphemy!!

  • what happen to the old girl? hope you get r done.

  • ay bro hows the resto coming along?

  • OK , from wat i see is that she was some what off a consperisy somthing happend in that car that could not be mentiond in those dase , so the best thing was to do was to take it out on her and let her rot till us people will forgive her ways and take her bacck like a bitch

  • It seems like there is too much corrosion to be able to get anything out of this car. You would have to bend your own metal.

  • soo how did it get wrecked, and i am guessing, parked after that????

  • Definately one of the coolest cars i have ever seen!!!

  • such a beautiful car

  • All steel?? Seems like some show cars were discarded and some went straight to museums. We must try to save them all!

  • What a great find. Good to hear you are saving her.

  • the guy how did this to that care need to be in jail !

  • why would a showcar turn into a P.O.S. like this? that's kind of weird.

  • @Jgeneraledger23 Back in the day, this was your "low rider" of today.

  • @zepherford I like the car, its just odd how a one-time magazine car could deteriorate so much. You'd think it would've been in a museum all this time.
