  • Your paintings are absolutely stunning. Thank you so much for posting these videos I love the way you blend the colours and hope to achieve your standard in my work some day. I am new to painting with oils and I hope you don't mind but I have a question. Do you use any painting medium in your paintings apart from liquin in the later stages? I find mediums v confusing, especially as I have traditional oils and water mixable oils too. Many thanks.

  • @doveliz12 Hi ,,Thank you ,

I mainly use Liquin as my medium , I find it not only assists the flow of the paint it speeds up the drying process too,,,its great stuff.

I tried the water based oils a few years ago ,,,but came back to traditional oils , I found the water based ones a little sticky.

    Good luck with your painting.;0)

  • Thank you so much this was VERY helpful.

  • Hi , When I work on a painting I let it go the way it wants to go, I usually start with an idea then that can change as the painting develops.

In fact once I intended painting an autumn woodland and did the background, which started to look more like misty cliffs on a seascape,,,,so thats what it turned out to be,it also turned out to be one of my best seascapes. It can be seen on my website as a print, its called INCOMING TIDE.

  • Alan i have a question about the small details, do you just actually make them up? because there is alot of them and its hard to actually make them up.

  • @malishmalishin yea, the small sticks & branches looks hard to paint, or atleast to know how they look like unless you look at a photo.

  • @Drnegrable thats what im talking about it is hard to make up so much things such as branches, dirt ,roots, sticks covered with snow. and make them realistic without looking at the photos.

  • @malishmalishin It is far easier to make up the picture than to copy something,,thats the way I work anyway.

  • Wonderful work! A pleasure to watch your videos. Thanks and Congratulations!

  • Glad you like it,,hope its helpful.

  • This is absolutely wonderful. Although I've painted in watercolour for over 20 years, I only tried oils a couple of months ago. This is a technique I have never seen so I have learned an awful lot from it. Thank you so much for posting this.
