Well, at least I get the reference, Simpsons, Itchy and Scratchy and Poochie. Poochie being Homer's character that gets killed off several episodes after he first airs, due to his lack of appeal. Homer makes an impassioned speech pleading them to let Poochie live, but in the aired version of the episode Poochie is voice dubbed and the same thing happens to him as to Spitfire, right down to the little message about him dying.
