I wasn't a huge fan of the Chrome browser, it didn't load pages as fast as firefox. I think the main issue as you mentioned is loading certain software which is only compatible with ms....BUT...if people are only using their netbooks to surf the web it might not be that big a deal.
Windows 7 will work on netbooks........Microsoft does not have a choice now.
they have a add/remove button on the main menu where all you have to do is check a box for a program you want. they have hundreds of programs to choose from.
what they don't have in there system any major software site like google for programs like picasa or chrome they have .debs which are just like .exe.
i just wanted to make that point that program installation is not hard in ubuntu.

Yes,its true
google,unlike ms, will look for more feedback from the "community"(or lets hope so),and could bring a better os than w7.
anyways, ms will loose more sleep on this.
