I know some people don't like Kate, but I think it's more about the outside vibe the character has, and that she came in late to the show, and not so much about the actor... Infact, I think one of the good things about her character is that people don't immediately like her, and so she can cause a certain amount of unrest to the show, shake things up a bit...
And I hope people give her time. After a while, she's grown on me, to the point where I wouldn't want to see her gone off the show.
