1) That's the worst launch clip I have EVER seen! $50 says the director doesn't ride bikes and has idea. And what's with the chick smoking?!?

2) Auto v manual - good to open riding to anyone new who was put off by a manual bike but for my money an auto bike would take half of the fun away. Nothing better than dropping a gear or two coming up to a corner - hear the engine kick up those revs as it brakes the bike for the corner then roars away again powering through. Damn, I'm going for a ride

Just so everyone can get some input on this bike from someone who put some time on one, its an ok bike. i got to ride one today at a open house at my honda dealer...fyi im a 919 rider. this bike looks good, rides smooth, is comfortable, but lacks in the power department for someone as myself that normaly rides a high preforming bike. all i could get out of it was 100mph, but not everyone wants nor needs to go that fast. i think it was fun and a great idea for less skilled riders.

I'm on my second Suzuki burgman 650. It has an automatic transmission too (gear driven, not belt driven) and I've often cruised at 105 mph. I'm surprised this doesn't go at least that fast. I have an artificial leg and an automatic transmission is a great boon to my riding choices, but why do the bikes have look so goofy? Aprillia has an automatic this year too and it looks better.

Not to sound pompous or anything but you guys have to consider this bike might get people riding that couldn't ride before. I know a guy who lost use of his lower leg so with an automatic he could be riding again without crazy modifications. Something to think about. If you don't want an auto, don't buy it - simple.

@RTiger18 and others: I too think it's much better and fun to drive a manual, but things are changing.. soon we'll be out of gas, riding electric (or whatever) cars and bikes, which won't have gears at all... face it.. we have to adapt or we'll just be overtaken by others.. Honda (like some other companies) is just moving a step forward in the right direction..! The longer ppl stay in the past, the worst they'll adapt to new technologies! Peace Y'all!

The concept is genius, not bullshit. Besides, who said that there should only be one type of transmission for motorcycles.

Thank you Honda, for inspiring me. Now I have something to live for. The DN-01 is a wonderful machine. All our technology, all our art and science, are best summed up, in this 2 wheel masterpiece. It's a work of art you can ride. I can't think of a better way to spend $14,599. Perhaps one day I'll have one.

I have a Suzuki Bergman, which is a very fast scooter (100 MPH) and can't wait to get my hands on the Honda. Looks more like a cycle. Believe more women will ride if they have one of these. The price is way too high though and depends on exchange rate. No word on shipping/export/import fees either.

Nice bike, but right now they are selling in the UK for 9200GBP....that is $17,416 in the good old USA...that is a lot for a glorified scooter. I looked at the Silverwing ABS to buy but I think it is overpriced at $8500...At $17,000 a person can buy a pretty nice Harley...

Honda cruise bikes are piss poor copycats of Harley. The Honda sport/street bike lines are the idiot version of Yamaha. They are sort of like a fake Rolex. They sure looked good for about a couple of days, but after wearing them, you notice a bad rash on your wrist that is hard to get rid of.

Hondas model line up is pathetic. America needs the CB1100F and CB1100R. Is it that no one wants a good inline-4 naked bike anymore? Suzuki has them, Yamaha has them Kawasaki has them but what happened to Honda?

I like the riding position, the auto, the long an low ride, and that banshee/ghost/wraith(Halo) purple colour!
