Take note of how he used Ichigo to save Rukia (read as Hogyoku) in SS Arc, have him running around town defeating hollows (so he doesn't have to), and eventually defeat Aizen--even though being the smartest in the show, he would easily been able to devise a method to achieve each of those things himself. If Soifon does decide to pursue him, he'll simply get either Yoruichi or Tessai to fight her for him.
