  • One thing I would love to know is why do you bowl with a reverse spin on the ball along with slow speed?

  • how many 9 pins can you leave in one match???

  • I know ha ha!! For me, it was the 8-pin. I left it the first 5 frames in this game. I was so pissed!!

  • Is there any difference between the pins if the pins have strings or not?

  • It makes a major difference, sometimes for the worse but sometimes for the better! I find that with today's pins (they mostly 90-95% have strings), you have to throw the ball smoother, with less revolution, and with a heavier ball.

  • Would you say you get better pin action with strings or without them? :)

  • Thinking about it more, the rubber around the pin makes the most difference. There's the soft rubber, the hard rubber, and a lot more to some degrees of hardness.

There's also bowling alleys that do different combinations of hard and soft rubbers, which may or may not be beneficial! Nowadays, we often see the #1 pin with a softer rubber and the rest of the pins with harder ones. Sometimes, it's the 1-2-3 pins that are different. These however are only when there's strings holding the pins.

  • I'd certainly like to try this version of duckpins! It looks fun :D

Also, how old were you on this telecast?

  • In this episode, I was 15 years old! I'm 30 today so...!!!

  • You were 15?!?!? You look like you're in your early 20's in this match! :P

  • LoL!

    Fortunately, I don't look 60 today!!

  • How good is the money in Quilles? It seems like it's about as popular as regular duckpin bowling, only the scoring is much higher. I seriously want to try this game so badly.

BTW, are there any ten pin/candlepin centers around your area?

  • Well, there ain't "big" money to do : in this video, a victory gave 400$ to the winning team and 200$ to the losers.

At "Les Quilles à TQS" nowadays, a win starts at 1500$, the second win 1750$, 2000$ for the third, etc... And the two losers (cause it's a three-way game) win 500$ and 750$.

So, it ain't bad but clearly not enough to make a living out of it.

  • I could probably do a reverse spin with 5-pin bowling too. I also know how to do the reverse spin with 10 pin as well.

  • BTW, I wanted to ask, have there been any times where you throw the ball with a good amount of speed if you're faced with a split or something?
