Habeas corpus is the only protection citizens have against an oppressive government. If the government takes away your right to habeas corpus, no one will ever know because the Patriot Act punishes anyone who would tell. And executive orders ensure that no one on the inside can be foreced to tell. Especially now that they know W. will set them free.
