The rincon is a great bike I have a old one not sure how old as I got it on ebay if anyone on here knows how to twll let me know but its like a champagne color over black and it has forks from a yukon as its a different color (cream) rock shox, Anywa you wont be dissapointed with your bike they are very relaible and well made. I use mine for commuting on bike tracks and have road tyres vittoro? and the work great a nicer option than what comes standard but works out too be $100 for 2 not cheap
ha like it but mines brand new i got it on the 1st of march 2010 its orange i added a speed dometer but the front dish brake keeps squeaking i dont know whats up with that but i bet its just a little because its BRAND NEW GET THE BIKE ITS AWSOME!!!
hey all i have a questain i just got this same bike (giant rincon 2008) but i got it used and it was already assembeled and me and my friends noticed that the curving handel bars werent curving up but tords you when your on the bike does anybody no witch way they go?? also how do the shock ajustments work? sorry about my spelling!
shoxs suck. i put tora 302.s fick them up. and now spinner cargos. realy good 150mm had them for allmosted a year,. and rebond. and lock out work great. and i ride about 20 hours a week. ever day after school.
Nicew man i just got one for christmas i friggin love it. it rides like a dream but it was -26 out today and shocks froze up but other then that no complaints.
the 09 model is better than the 08 the 09 is slightly lighter and better derailer, i bought the 08 olive and black, and i am satisfied with my purchase check my video out of my bike!
the two adjuster knobs on the top of the fork are called preload adjusters, the more you turn them clockwise the more you preload (compress) the internal spring which makes them initially softer. turn them counter clock wise and they become stiffer. keep in mind that it is only going to make them stiffer in the initial compression of the fork and not the whole stroke of the fork. more preload means less force for the fork to initially compress
I took the 22/32/42 front gears off of mine and put 32/42/52 interchangeable with lighter cranks on it. It makes a huge difference. I also added a padded seat, a seat post with a shock absorber and an adjustable neck. I have lighter, thinner rims with improved hubs and road(ish) tires on it right now. It's a nice hybrid bike at the moment, that can be switched to a trail bike in less than five minutes. I used to have a proper road bike, but I got tired of flats, imo, a hybrid is the way to go.
I was just riding my '08 Rincon today. It's a great bike! Especially for the price (I paid $300 for mine). Love the Shimano trigger shifters and the disc brakes! Fuck yeah!
I would probably question your supplier because for 08 the rincon came with front and rear mechanical discs and came only in two color options olive/black, and anthracite(gray)/black. The 08 was about $20 dollars more than the 07 but you get f/r discs and an upgraded fork. Handling is great it is a pretty light bike from what I'm used to as far as jumps the fork was not really designed for jumping but it does still handle pretty well. Its all around awesome bike I love it.
Awesome bike dude i just ordered one today but how come your's has a discbrake in front mine hasn't and mine is white/black as well you sure your's isn't a terrago or something?? or maybe my supplier just sucks ass :P
BTW can you gimme a lil heads up on how it handles jumps and stuff about the grip?? thanks man
yeh, budget was the main reason i got this 1 too, maybe if i get more money i mite upgrade to front discs. its a creat bike for having fun xc and small jumps
hehe yeah i noticed it wsa a lot of fun :P i put my seat up a few inches and now i can get up to speed way faster and i improved both my average and maximum speed :P and it's great fun to zip past people going like 20 km/h while riding 40+ yourself :P xD
you should try raising your seat ot tthe point you can JUST touch the ground with the tip of y'r foot it might take some time to get used to it but you'll notice you'll be goin faster with less effort
they handle jumps really well for being hardtails the front shocks absorb about 95%of the impact and what iv learned is that if you get the air pressure just right it feels like a full suspension.
haha yea i have the giant and i am not sure what the psi of my tires is but it really does feel like full suspension!! i have the 07 :P but its still amazing
yea i hav the 08 but i like rincons accept iv been doing some downhill bikeing in the snow and it makes the shocks not work as well cause of the cold but thats the only complaint i hav about it
That why I was pinching tubs like crazy. Once I started running them at the right pressure I started saving money on tubes!
This bike rocks. I put mine though hell over the summer, and only broke the derailer hanger and my rear hub is a little jacked from a stair gapping experience. The bike wheelies like a dream though!
pile shit :D

Got the olive green/black version, must say it's a great trail bike. Even with the semi-slick Kenda K-Rad tires, it feels glued to the singletrack!
