I am so sorry that happened to you. I've had allot of items stolen from me, which had lots of value. It was all from someone I knew too. There was no way for me to prove it; I was really depressed. All the items could not be replaced ): I stopped buying jewelry or anything nice anymore, like nice clothes... I go to garage sales and off the 70% off rack lol. when I do have nice clothes I am afraid to where them lol..

Canvass your local pawnshops. If you find it don't identify it as yours. Play it cool and let the police retrieve it. Make sure the police transmit an alarm on your laptop using the serial number. They can also track it down by the IP address. Be insistent with the police. Confer with detectives!I would also canvass online pawnshops such as Ebay etc. Good luck.

They just need to have a virtual lojack system for Macs built-in standard. I contacted Apple and they have no formal tracking system in place, which is silly.

I know the worst thing about this is the sense of violation. I am deeply sorry that your life had to get shaken in such a way. Some people broke into my house on the day of my mom's funeral in May (thieves watch for obituaries) and took a substantial amount of things while we were at the service.
The impotent anger is miserable. I hope you manage to find peace.

I actually bought a new PC when my old one died this past spring. It would take more than 500 characters to go into all the things that went wrong.
Dual boot on a Macbook Pro. Best of both worlds.
