just stand in the tunnel and use the reguluar fireball when he comes towards you the he stops for a bit and then you can hit him with anythin u want ... as long as ur chargin the fireball ur unhitable so he also cant grab you or anythin while in that state ... ;)

i found a way to beat this thing without taking a single hit....simply stay in one of those cave rooms. Using the eclipse scythe, if you power up max and release it right when the worm passes by, it'll hit him. Worked pretty good for me

the first time I played, the worm got stuck in a glitch and stayed in one spot so I spent an hour waiting for the rumbling sound to get to me but it never did. I ran a while, then found it trying to dig into a wall and I beat the shit out of it....on Warrior mode

Thanks guys, very helpful, I tried to do the arrow trick, Didnt work, did work at the first stage, but cudnt get it to work the second or the third time, I think the charge is the best approach, using the phenix power.

Another Option: I hid in one of the rooms close to the entrance but far enough to keep out of harms way. When the worm went by I hit it with charged arrows. You get one shot a pass. It takes maybe 8-10 hits. Timely but safe. And don't worry, when that centipede thing comes crawling to your feet, it never actually attacks if you are far enough away from the entrance. Plus the same charged arrow you shoot at the worm will kill the centipede by default Two bugs with one stone.

i just jumped out in the tunnel, charged the scythe Y attack to max and released it as the "worm" comes. Since the Y attack is a ranged Shockblast it stops the worm a few feet from ya, then just charge in on him, deal 1-2 blows and move into one of the rooms again, do and repeat.

20 mins ? damn that sux, sometimes its different , there's a big difference between bosses with playng it for the first time ,and for the 2nd time on your complete the game save, when i first played this boss , i did 1 combo it took his life off with 60% ,, with 1 combo!! when i fully hit him now with 1 combo it only does like 15%...

I hate this guy. Staying inside the caves doesn't work- I've tried it with the bow and scythe and whatever else people have suggested, but he never gets hit by it. The phoenix ninpo idea works the best for me, but I only have 1 use of it left.

I've beaten him before, but that time I just powered through, ate the damage, and used the items. Unfortunately this playthrough I'm doing a challenge run (NUR+), so I can't really do that- not to mention I only have 1 herb. Advice...?

stay close to the entrance of a cave and charge your bow then as soon as you see him shoot him in the face and roll back into the cave while he is stunned.

why doesnt the scythe thing work? you dont have to wait until u see the worm to release the attack. human reaction time just wont cut it. its just plain timing. if he doesnt come by the cave, just step out of the cave and step back in again

I beat the worm with the original throwing stars that you get in the begining of the game. And only the stars. Yeah i used no other weapons. Just the stars.

LOLZ! i started a new game on warrior and did everything with the dragon sword then when i got kusari game i only used that. If you know how to use the kusari gama you can kill everything with it. even this worm lollol. The eclipse scythe is good for the worm because it uses melee attacks but you can kill it with anything.

I summoned the phoenix birds and stood in the tunnel and charged the scythe, the birds would stop him and the scythe did massive damage, then I did a Y combo and backed off and it hurt him pretty badly.

what I did is:

Found one of those side rooms, and when the worm came by, did 1 x attack with the scythe, since its got some reach. The worm got stunned, and I justdid x x x combos on it till it died. It never went away cause I kept stunning it, so it couldn't run or bury.

Killed it in about 40 seconds, counting time it took to find the room. Didnt get hit once.

you have to play through the whole game with the dragon sword in order to unlock the ability to start the game with all the weapons. see, if you are going for the weapon achievements there's no way to get them without doing Dragon Sword first, since you have to earn the weapons throughout the game. dunno if this person has that yet, but that could be a reason.

or just show up in his face with the scythe charge it smack him real good avoid his "tongue" attack then smack him again.. He will dive underground when he had enough. Repeat and it should do the job.

There's a much easier way, stand right outside one of the side rooms and spot which direction the worm's coming from, then fully charge the scythe and release when it's near you. Takes off a huge chunk of its life each time. Escape into the side room as soon as you land the hit. Repeat and it should be a flawless victory

I killed the worm by staying in one of the rooms on the side. I used the UT2 of the scythe and released it at the right time to hit him in the face from the side rooms. The worm never touched me.
