He was from a generation where there were proportionally a lot of batsman with averages in the high 50's and even 60's and a lot of poor bowlers on flat tracks. A bit of proof is the averages of the batsman as compared to the bowlers, Larwood was the best in those days and he averaged 28, which puts him in the Kapil Dev category of bowlers, not great.

@ihamoitc2005 Bradman only scored a couple of fast innings. mostly he was a very careful batsman. He was from a generation where there were proportionally a lot of batsman with averages in the high 50's and even 60's and a lot of poor bowlers on flat tracks. A bit of proof is the averages of the batsman as compared to the bowlers, Larwood was the best in those days and he averaged 28, which puts him in the Kapil Dev category of bowlers, not great.

India are ranked number one team in test matches and number 2 in ODI's. Pakistan are ranked 6th in both.

you also have to see the circumtances. In the time of bradman there wasn't such aggressive cricket as it has been in last 15 yrs and i dont think any top class bowler like Mcgrath/W Akram had bowled to him.

well bradman never played odi's and that is the only reason why he performed so well. now look at the difference in the career, time-frame, and change in cricket......
Bradman and Tendulkar both played cricket for 20 years. However, Bradman played only test cricket but sachin has fared brilliantly in test and odi. and also sachin is a good batsman and a good bowler as well.
Cricket in Bradman's time wasnt as recognized around the world nor did it have that pressure and fame attached to it.

Cricket today is a game with huge amounts of money involved but Sachin has handled it well.
'Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi' in his interview has said that he had never faced fast bowlers like Lee, McGrath, Akhtar, Akram etc. and so Bradman was playing against bowlers that werent really fast, probably Medium paced. Sachin however, has performed extremely well against all bowlers fast, spinners etc.

mansoor ali khan pataudi was born in 1941, 13 years after bradman first played for australia. anyways, bradman had to deal with uncovered sticky pitches where the ball would rear up a good lenght, and he didnt have the protection. now tendulkar has the best technology available and more batsman friendly pitches. now both bradman and tendulkar r great players, but both played different era's of cricket, so to compare the 2 would be pointless. and they did have some very good paceman bak then~

@k789saver Tendulker is nowhere near Bradman, Bradman averaged nearly double Tendulker in a day when pitches were uncovered and wernt prepared to suit batsmen, experts said that Bradman would probably average around 130 if he played on todays pitches. And faster bowlers of that era could bowl over 140k, so how about you stop trying to make excuses, Tendulker is only rated as high as he is because hes India's best ever player, hes nowhere near elite batsmen like bradman, g.pollock, sobers etc.

So today if bowlers such as stuart broad, morne morkel or zaheer khan bowled those reverse swing- reversing on the legside. I would doubt bradman having such a high average. Anyways he was a very talented batsman.

@k789saver What you said is correct. partially. the caliber of bowlers is far greater today than bradman's time. I think, however, that you are forgetting the types of pitches bradman had to play on. They were terrible to bat on and he still averaged 99.94 If cricketers these days were faced with the pitches bradman had to face, I think you'll find they would be averaging in the 30's and 40's rather than the 50's.
