I'll answer this, he's the Island's Guardian, the orb that was seen throughout this game was supposed to be used to summon him, however the people of the island were consumed by rage of their island being ruined so the Guardian became evil, and absorbed all the darkness the island has seen (I.E greedy pirates, the enraged islanders, etc.)

Nah each character has 2, usually the second is more powerful. Frankys second move is extremely effective against bosses, too effective imo :/
