  • You're not fat, but you're heading towards it. I think you can lose that in a short amount of time, maybe 4-6 months if you work out regularly and eat healthier.

  • Hi, I've been gaining myself, went through a really "fitness crazy" session there for a few months but I'm back gaining again. I would say it all depends on how your feeling, I enjoyed my belly and the food!

    Sometimes, you're better to give it a try and see what happens - my mate done the same thing as me, gave up on sports and gym routies... he was nearing the 200lbs mark when he gave up and went fitness crazy again. LOL I won't be doing that : )

  • I think you should get bigger and show us your progress as you go. And tell me how you do it.

  • I say you are not really fat but you have a flabby soft belly. You look good with a still somewhat muscular chest and your growing belly.

  • Former college athlete here....I'm telling you get fatter! It's waaaaay better and easier than staying fit. You'll look better at the pool if you do ;)

  • (1) Even a t-shirt masks a tummy and a regular shirt (bigger than what you need) really hides a well developed belly.

    (2) When you check with successful gainers, they will tell you to consume more food, even when you are full. - The point is, to be an athlete means a lot of effort. To be a gainer is just as much effort, and I emphasize "effort", but in a different direction: Eat as much as high calorie food as you can (which isn't always fun).

  • I'm the same height and was the same weight. At about 175, it gets harder to hide when sucking in lol.

  • You're hot with some gut but please take care of your body and keep working out : if not, as a former swimmer you are going to get a huge belly and to suffer from back pain. You should not gain more than 20 pounds in the next 10 years. A small bulging belly will be hot but not a big one

  • Thanks for all the comments, I'm definitely gonna need them if I'm going to continue! What should be my total caloric goal for a given day? And at what point will I no longer be able to hide my fatness by sucking in? I'm 5'9" and 160-5ish right now

  • @skinny2fat88 honestly, i found that exersize is the key, if you dont move, you dont lose... i rode a bike everywhere i went for 8 months and lost 60 pounds with no other exersizing/ any diet..( i weighed 220, now im 160 and im 6 foot 1) i like food, and i cant stop myself from eating it, but i can stop my body from keeping it. im not saying eat ice-cream all day, but balenced meals and a couple snacks a day is fine( or was for me ) idk maybe its just me im just trying to help. GL!

    If you continue on your current path you maybe susceptible diabetes and heart conditions. The skinny fat body shape that you are exhibiting are due to metabolic changes in your body.

    I am not trying to scare you just to make you aware.

    You do not need to be an athlete to combat this. Do so some research in interval training for short training periods to increase your metabolism.

    Calories of about 2500 per day at average lifestyle.

  • Be sure to take lots of pics and vids to monitor your progress, of course. You'll be glad you did.
