I guess i understand the need to cull them, but why the hell do they have to brutally smash them with clubs and leave them to slowly bleed to death? Why not shoot them or kill them in some other quick painless way?
@Gearsoffail5 Seals have layers and layers of fat and if you shoot them there is a good chance they will just take off and slowly bleed to death. The club or hakapik are infact the most humane ways as seals have very thin skulls and it renders them unconscious. Sometimes after they are clubbed the seals appear to still be alive and moving, but this is a swimming reflex that is alive even after they are not. Clubbing is done accurately 98% of the time according to autopsies done after the hunt.
