  • I would like to see Trolley busses in Singapore

  • @azmidasimin Unfortunately i don't think that is ever going to happen. The sg governement hates anything to do with overhead wires.

  • "Vive le trolleybus" :)

  • amazing!

    greetings from Chile

  • Awsome being a young boy in Sydney I never got 2 ride a trolley bus. don't no why australia got rid of them!!! when i went 2 athens 2 yrs ago i really wanted 2 go on one but no timen :( keep the virtualln tours coming

  • youtube this biogas+wind+solar

  • Judging by the way you form your opinions I can safely tell that you must have been living in the country or villages all your life. No offence but you certainly don't sound a city folk to me, rather more like a peasant or farmer maybe. People would sure forgive you for what you've just said given that you have not acquired any exposure to urban sights in big sophisticated cities, such as trolleybus and its overhead wires. = ) Given your background, you are not expected to know a thing.

  • Farmer or Peasant? I'm neither...

I live in a 'big sophisitcated city' as you put it... but feel free to prove me wrong... you tell me where this electricity comes from?

If you can prove that its greener then ill gladly listen... monorails running on solar power... id sign... a bloody trolley with overhead wires making the city look like a shit pit, gimme a break....

  • Electricity for trolleybus comes from a variety of sources including hydroelectric, nuclear, natural gas, wind and of course the coal-fired ones, etc. The cleanest ones are hydroelectric, wind and nuclear ones I guess. For example, Vancouvers entire fleet of trolleybuses are literally powered by clean force of water as its electricity is 100% from hydroelectric scheme. Many Swiss cities trolleybuses also heavily rely on power generated from hydroelectric plants.

  • For cities or countries that are unable to harness hydropower and rely on electricity generated by coal-fired plants, please never overlook the fact that the polluting power plant is normally located outside of city far away from residential establishments.

  • Trolleybuses come to close contact with people in their everyday commute in the city but these buses are emission-free and pose no health threats to the residents. Power plant does give out pollution but it is located far away from people and the polluting emission from a power plant can be more effectively treated and filtered in a centralised manner before letting it out, rather than having many individual (diesel) buses emitting harmful pollutants on city streets, near to the residents.

  • i dont know but... i guess tram its faster right?

  • A good cheap option to trams: the only option on lighter used routes to buses. "Where's the oil!" . That's what people will be saying soon!

  • I love the electric trollys. If they would just let the Italians design the shape of it, those GM bus conversions are ugly!!

  • In Philadelphia, they're called trackless trolleys.

  • Trackless trolley is American. Some in the US also all them trolleycoaches. Just like trams that are known as streercars in the States.

  • or trolley cars...LOL! In any event, they are ALL preferable to diesel busses!

  • If you compare tram and trolleybus videos on YouTube, trolleybuses almost always seem faster.

  • "Seem" is a good word. There's a speed limit of 50km/h in Europe (also applies to trams if in the street), but trams have lots of separated tracks, where they can go as fast as 90. Moreover, trams can be much longer.

    They cost way more, though.

  • The information about Lyon in the video is WRONG, Lyon is building tram lines AND also is purchasing new trolleybuses and expanding the network. It´s sad that some people is still promoting trolleybuses AGAINST tramways, like in the past.

  • Please, trams and trolleybuses have DIFFERENT transport capacity. Both has different aplications. The opposition between both is a thing of the past. Both systems are the future in urban transport.

  • I love both trams and trolleybuses because they are both electric and pollution free. But I believe trams definitely cost more to maintain as compared to trolleybuses if you've taken into account the maintanence cost on the tram rails that are countersunk into the surface of the streets. Streets need to dug open in order to carry out any repair work or maintanence work on the rails and then, restore the street surface when the work is done.

  • Think how often the tracks have to be replaced vs. how often the street surface needs to be patched. Also, rubber tyres cause much higher friction. Anyway, let's not get into details on YouTube, but rather a specialized forum.

  • nice vid ;-) trolleybus forever
