It was designed to win ONE race, rub BMW's noses in the fact that Porsche could soundly defeat them anywhere, anytime, in any class of racing. It retired from its first race because in their haste to assemble it, no heat shielding in front of engine, driver overheated. Next race, won, and that was it, retired.
