Apartment rent used to be ½ what it is now combined with the cost of living which has doubled in the last ten years makes it hard for a single income family to survive compared to now in 1970 the Average Monthly Rent was $140.00 now it is 1000 + and that is just a 30 year jump what happened to the dollar let me tell you the federal reserve note is fake money printed with Indian blood!

I haven't met a landlord that was good, must know our rights and don't be intimidated, it's a shame what they do to tenants that don't deserve to get pushed out.
Being from a multiethnic & legal background, I find that most tenant-landlord problems are between people of the same group. Whether it is bias or fact, Hispanics get the worst rap as tenants in NE and SW regions of the USA. Stereotypes do not help. Tenants need to be more savvy about where they rent and their rights AND duties. Landlords need to do background checks more AND abide by laws and codes. This prevents slumlords and court actions. Have a lease, and stick to its rules, BOTH sides.
Many of New York City's buildings are very old. It is horrible how their rent is more than anywhere else in the country. Landlords are rotten people for the most part. I mean, they are like car dealers, thinking they are gonna get a lot of money for doing hardly any work.
The rent control laws in New York make the landlords act like this. The law motivates the landlords to make people move so they can improve the property and raise rent. In other states it is in the landlord's best interest to maintain the property, raise rent as expenses increase, and retain the old tenants. Liberal laws always come back to bit you in the ass.

are these landlords immune to bullets take the fuckers out sounds like they need it anyway or are all you Newyorkers cowards whos to know guaranteed problem solver so instead of snivelling & moaning about it do somethig that will work
Was the landlord for Sheridan One in the Bronx in there? That landlord was really dirty and got people out of the building (especially minorities) just to raise the rent on the 1 and 2 bedroom apts. This landlord is in New Rochelle and stopped at nothing including using the judge to help him get them out. This building I considered my home, he wanted more than I could pay ... so guess what, I lose.

Colored people are the worst tenants.

I wonder if the building/landlord that won is now completely gentrified?
