The reason why the Harrier is here is because as the ship came into NY on its maiden voyage two brand new never before seen Harriers screamed into a hover above the ship and escorted it into the river. The US Marines were watching and bought the Harrier for their air-force; that was just the start of course. Hence the bow on her final voyage.
