the phantom's right; dark knight is good,but in no way is it in the same ballpark as superman 1. imo,batman '89 is better than dark knight but still comes up short.

Superman: the movie is so great because it used the basic superhero/comic book movie formula to perfection. the spiderman films tried to get it right, they sorta did, but they didn't get it as close as STM

Didn't Superman come out in 1978? It was filmed in 1977.

C'mon, it wasnt wrong, Nolan said that when he was making TDK, he thought of the great sequels Godfather 2, and Empire, in what they accomplished and that he was going to apply that to Batman. If anything he was complimenting those movies; I agree with Nolan, those are the two greatest sequels of all time (special mention for Terminator 2).

When TDK is compared to Empire it isn't suggesting that it's better, it's just acknowledging that it's very similar in regards to its' trilogy.
