  • .38 special this is one lengendary band!

  • That would Donnie Van Zant brother to Ronnie Van Zant former lead singer of Skynyrd! Johnny Van Zant is the lead singer of Skynyrd now. I've seen these guys play live with Skynyrd a lot and their still great.

  • I would love to see this band and Lynyrd Skynyrd together. There's a 4 day cruise in January, from the L/S website, it will have 2 Lynyrd Skynyrd shows, and also 38 Special, Molly Hatchett, The Outlaws, and about 5 other artists that I can't think of at the moment. It looks like a blast and I think I might put myself on the waiting list

  • Wow, this song brings back nothing but good memories!

They don't make music like this anymore! Now the industry is run by apes.

  • southern rock

  • damn straight brother!!!

  • Van Zants, Now those are American guys! And Don Barnes, what talent!!

  • van zanzt rocks

  • is it true that one of these guys is kin to someone in Lynyrd Skynyrd

  • Yeh Donnie Van Zant the brother of original Skynard lead singer Johnnie, He's the guy in all black, he actually is the lead singer for Skynard today I believe.

  • Here's your "meet and potatoes"...

  • Southern fried rock, country fried rock, mullet rock, classic rock..

It's all rock and I love it!

  • I remember when it was all called "Country Fried Rock" and as I read all of the comments on the various groups who were classified in this genre, they are still very well liked today!

  • ONE OF THE GREATEST SOUTHERN ROCK/COUNTRY BANDS EVER!!!

If you love country music you LOVE 38 SPECIAL!!

  • WTF are you smoking. You dumb bitch this isn't country.......fuck why don't you get some fuckin knowledge.

  • Dud why don't you go FUCK yourself side ways!!! I saw 38 Special with Shooter Jennings and the CDB!! I concider them a Country/Rock band. Why don't you listen to some of their songs they don't play on the radio. They sound COUNTRY to me.

Tour de force album. song should have let go. thats a country song dill weed.

  • cpscsoccerskillz... why don't you get some fucking class jackass! You seem to me to be the type that thinks it's all fucking cool to come on here and call some girl a 'dumb bitch' because it makes your dick feel bigger. so she thinks it's country and you don't! Is that any fucking reason to call her a dumb bitch?

Didn't your mother raise you better than that? Grow the fuck up..

  • This is the kind of music people really want to hear. WTF happened to good music? Maybe I'm just being nostalgic, but bring back the good old days. Can't stand most of the crap that out there today. It's just not right.

  • i love this,song by them

  • if you like 38 special you should love pink floyd............i know,,,,go figure....two different bands from my hey day, but love them both just the same......

  • By far their greatest song.I´ve always loved 38 Special music and it´s nice to see people that shared my point...

  • One of my favorite bands....awesome song...Its odd that they actually sounds BETTER live than they do in concert. Its the exact live now days

  • My mom is best friends with 38 special, especially Don Barnes, the lead singer. She got a ton of stuff from him plus I got to meet him a couple of times. A very nice guy!

  • I love them, one of my all time favorite bands of all time. I miss those days when bands were so good !!!!

  • I love my era......when bands were expected to actually sound good live!! LOL Not that there aren't some who do now a days...but, just saying.

  • Is it me or does Danny Chauncey look like Gary Rossington?

  • he does a little bit

  • one of the drummers is wearing a Mothers Fines t shirt

    Leslie

  • I don't know why, but every time I hear the verses to this song it reminds me of "Just What I Needed" by The Cars. It has that similar rhythm I think.

  • That was the inspiration for the song according to Jeff Carlisi.

  • What an awesome version of an awesome song!! Damn this was back in the day when bands actually rocked and guitar solos had soul to them!!

  • Thanks for sharing this. Takes me back to my college days at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and way before MTV videos. Love it.

  • Ok just to clear things up, the guy that looks like Ronnie Van Zant is Ronnie's younger brother Donnie Van Zant, and the current singer of lynard skynard is the youngest of the Van Zant brothers Johnnie Van Zant. so this is Donnie not ronnie

  • Learn how to spell LYNYRD SKYNYRD before you give a history lesson.

It kinda takes away from it!!!!!

  • dude that his brother

  • who are the principle writers on this one...was Van Zant involved?

  • Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan wrote this song. Both of them were in the band Survivor

  • thanks for the info. I am a singer songwriter/recording artist, myself. You can access my original songs and artist website via my youtube channel (click on the URL website icon).

Thanks again and I, def, appreciate any and all feedback on my stuff.

  • An interview with Peterik mentions Barnes and Carlisi but not Sullivan. But I've seen Sullivan's name listed on it too so who knows.

  • amazing rift at 3:37........pure 38 Special!!!!!

  • I can't wait to see 38 again, I also videotaped 2 live songs of them, if ya have the time check them out. "38 SPECIAL ROCKS"

  • I met Don Barnes at a wedding for a mutual friend in the late 90's,,, what a class person and so down to earth it was amazing... funny part was listening to the reception band playing rock n roll while I was having a drink with Don Barnes... his wife is gorgeous btw!

  • great performance especially because it sounds like right off the album

  • That's cos it is.

  • u tell him lattrelle!!!!

  • the drummer looks like weird al

  • f*ck wish I was there at that time and place ...... kick as$

  • me 2, I was just born in 81 lol

  • I was there son, what a time. What a life. It was a time to truly envy when matched with what is called 'music' today.

  • One of the best live bands I ever saw. Always sounded like the original songs.

  • Great Guitar Work...! ! !

  • Stop it with the stupid racist comments and just enjoy the music that .38 Special brought us!

  • Calminmind your ignorance is mind blowing Im a black guy and i think this is one of the best songs iv'e ever heard, and im a young guy what you would call modern day. Great music is universal. come into this century. Your racist views are outdated and quite frankly pure idiocy.

  • nice

  • You know you are a good band when you not only have 3 guitarists, but 2 drummers also, and your songs are amazing to boot.

38 was great stuff. I always wanted my band that I had in high school to do a cover of this song and Caught Up In You.

  • Niggrs rap is modern day " dance around the fire with spear beats." Why do you think Blacks are so greasy?

  • Comment removed

  • anyone dancing around fire would be sweaty hence the greasiness..... >_>

  • this song is like a lesson in relationships

  • Join 'the club'!

  • they always play this too fast

  • Man...these tunes bring me back. Good times.

  • What a truly great band!! Bands now dont even hold a candle to guys like .38 special.

  • Beautiful.

  • Rap was designed to create Violence, Murder and Drug Addiction, lol same reason why Rock was created...j/p But seriously the Goverment uses "New Rap" to target kids it's a weapon of Mindcontrol and Degeneration. I still like to listen to a little bit of rap, but Just know what you are listening too, Read the Lyrics. Rap and the Industry is designed to Promote Satanism, Sex and Drugs, Violence...Seriously - I cracked the code that all of us should have already known.

  • Rap calls themselves :nigger".

  • I knew this band personally, there Song Writer used to live with us, Larry Steele - One cool Motherfucker. This was back then when the Music on the Radio sounded Exactly like there Albums, Nowadays people play lol Gay Talentless music. I went to the 38/Heart Concert in Jacksonville FL when I was little.

  • Niggr rap is for niggs. Plain and simple. Be White Be proud and Be yourself.

  • Are you kidding me?! This shit still exists?

  • snergs, these guys could be your grandpas. show them R-E-S-P-E-C-T (you know what it means to me!)

  • Coco, I wasn't talking about 38! I was talking to some racist down there.

  • yeah no shit thats exactly what I say lol. Why the hell do all these whites listen to that junk anyways, I think mainly cuz they wanna be black which is pretty dam sad. I'm a straight up redneck and proud of it, ride my harley, and jam this shit!

  • Sad thing that good music is rare these days. I was a teenager when this group was coming out with these songs and it was a great time for music. Rap is nothing more to me than trash talking to some uncivilized jungle beat by less than intelligent people with an even lessor degree of talent. I feel if rappers could sing, they would... If they could play live concerts with a real band, they would... But since by far, most of them do not, then it simply means the can't...

  • so much better than niggr rap.

  • yes definitly

  • you're a dumb ignorant fuck.

  • i love them and this is probably the best music around!!

  • back when music was good music rather than the gay crap nowadays

  • amen!!!

  • wow...myfootinurass......great name....LOL!

  • Good old MTV days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • good old days when live sounded just like the studio recording

  • Guitar solo at 3:36: Wayne's World, party time, excellent..doodadloo dodaloo dodadloo......

  • I always wonder why they had 2 drummers...they play the same thing. I think they just didn't have the heart to fire one dude...and then the other showed up and they are both stubborn and neither dude wants to quit.

  • They don't play the same thing all the time. There are actually quite a few spots where you can them playing different, complementing pieces. Best example is: 1:45 to 1:57 where one guy is playing hi hats and the other is playing toms.

  • rap hip hop screwed up REAL rock n roll dont believe me watch mtv nowdays..so sad

  • rap and hip hop had nothing to do with why rock and roll sucks now if anything blame mtv for ruining music in general

  • wwhen MTV started doing Buzz clips back around 1990 that signaled the death of the music from this era . Grung was righta round the corner and then exploded

  • This is a GREAT song! No one writes music like this anymore.

  • Keep showing ignorance the lead guitar player is of Italian descent

  • I like cheeseburgers with pickles while I hear some good 38 special bitches!!!!

  • Fuck Allah. Dumb nigger.

  • Hey bud...that's Sand Nigger. Just clearing things up.

  • You Silly Bitches

  • best drummer in the world

  • haha!! I love all the idiotic comments!! Whats with all the dick suckings?? Hey forget 38 Special, lets all go suck some dicks!!

  • I also love how 1 person mentions Jesus Christ and then here come all the Muslim lovers out of the woodwork... We Americans have some freaky sex toys but these freaks take it to another level! Ill have to try having sex with my girlfriend while she wears a black bed sheet complete with eye slits and ill strap a bomb to my ass set to go off if I dont finish within 30 seconds... Yeah that will keep a relationship exciting... Where can I get those toys?

  • Toys R Us

  • which one?

  • this brother can appreciate this talent. I love this song and the lyrics rock! Go .38 special. I'm going to buy some of their tracks from itunes. Rock on!!!!!!! Rock forever!!!!!!

  • It sounds like a song from the cars, those damn 80's theives!

  • i didn't know jesus christ was the lead singer for .38 special.

  • Disrespectful jerk.........After all his hard work, Donnies kids and grandchildren would really appreciate that. .38 is one of the best bands to come out of Jacksonville besides Skynyrd of course....I guess you just don't know any better.....no class........and too young.....pathetic....

  • i got an idea. go suck a cock. too young? go suck a bigger cock. finally, comparing fucking Jesus Christ to anyone shouldn't be an insult. i don't even like Jesus. after all is said and done, go suck the biggest, floppiest, vein ridden cock ever. pathetic cocksucker.

  • LMFAO

  • take it easy theres no physical prove that jesus existed

  • Fuck Yeah... I fuckin love 38 Special....

  • Ronnie Van Zant was the founder and lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Now Little Brother Johnny is the singer for skynyrd, Your watchin other brother Donnie.. The Van Zants are awesome... Got it right now folks???

  • yup lol, ive been sayin the same thing on youtube forever. also johnny sings lead vocals for a country band called van zant lol.

  • Comment removed

  • How dare you bad mouth Donnie Van Zant and Don Barnes! .38 Special made terrific music. Being a follower of .38 for over 30 years I can tell you that you are way out of line bad mouthing this talented bunch of guy's. The Van Zant family is top shelf people. Do youself a big favor and listen to .38 and Skynyrd.. You think that kind af talent comes by accident? EVERY song written tells a story. This song tells of Don Barnes's divorce.

  • Just for the record, Don and Donnie are both 57 years old. Don traveled to Mississipi with Lacy Van Zant in October of 77 to support Lacy in identifying Ronnie in the morgue after the plane crash. Don Barnes and Charlie Daniels both sung at Ronnies funeral. You really should brush up on your southern rock history before you spout off son......you disrespect these guy's, Ronnie just might come back and put a woopin on you. You wouldn't like that much...

  • I get to see these guys all the time. My mom is really good friends with Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zant. They used to go into her bar, and they became good friends. These guys are REALLY cool. This band is awesome!

  • Seventies and eighties southern rock cracks me up, they have like 9 guitarist, 4 durmmers and 2 bass players LOL

    BTW Great songs though :)

  • dude that guy is from lynyrd skynyrd.

  • no its his brother, Donnie Van Zant

  • 80年代当時にはこのキャッチーな感じがうけてたよね。でもやっぱりLynyardの方が so kool!

  • I Love this group and Van Zandt only makes it better.

  • These guys are awesome.

  • saw then tonight, they were awesome!!!

  • No offense, but is Van Zandt necessary in this band?

  • Comment removed

  • dont no much about music do you!!!!!!!!!

  • um. Nope. Hey one of the 3 Van Zandt Brothers. Donnie was in 38 Special.

  • No. Donnie Van Zandt was not in Lynyrd Skynyrd. That would have been Ronnie Van Zandt you are think of.
