The agilent 9000 actually has a 15.4inch screen. We turned one of those down in favour of the new Rohde & Schwarz RTO Scope. You should definatelly check it out.
I'm just not "up to speed" on Aus. import duties for Euro equip. (such as R&S),Dave. Also, it seems that ROC(Taiwan) and mainland China have become extremely contentious as suppliers of low cost high-end test equipment. I prefer the Taiwanese stuff for sheer technical expertise. The Rigol rep. was funny....he beat the word 'basically" right into the ground. Thanks for the walk-thru at this expo hall (an eclectic mix of the old and the new).
I've been lucky enough to work with some of the older high end gear featured in this video (LeCroy WaveRunner, Agilent 20MHz arb function generator) and they are just monstrous bits of kit and something I would recommend if you ever have £10k or so burning a hole in your pocket :)
Dave: what kind of kit do you get to mess around with at work. From the sound of some of the projects you have described I bet you get to play with some cool stuff!
rigol shouldn whine. i as a beginner looked out for a scope, first used analog ones at ebay, second used ones at forums. at those forums i read about the ds1052e, searched the web, viewed your video about it and thought "why get a analog used one if i can have this for a bit higher price?"
so i bought it for 355€ which is a good price at germany oO.
IN FACT: it was delivered today and my neighbor took it because i was at work. its still there like 10 meters away and i cant get my hands on it :/
@joeles69 What, and then get hammered for saying "porn for nerds" too many times? When you film this stuff over the course of the day you don't realise how many times you have said something.
@philbx1 chill out gramps. was not a personal attack on dave, it was just advice.
im more into arduinos (i guess those 4 words gives you sufficient amunition to try hurt my feelings in return), building junk bots, and hardware hacking. Scopes do not tickle my intrest one bit so what dave was saying stood out (painfully).
Although you may think you have sufficient reasoning, I think yourmessage was delivered with a rock & not a carrot. Also, I like Dave's dialog and if he didn't say anything slightly interesting, he'd be a robot...
@baddspella Sex on a stick is a fucking awesome expression. I do have a certain affinity for the expression, mostly owing to the fact that I first heard him say it when he tested the response time of the continuity mode a multimeter, and thus banging two acteal "sticks" together.
@thesurvivalist98 Anyone can go to these events. The organisers like to promote it as "trade only", but putting down a fake (or any) company name and title on the form works a treat.
So glad I'm moving from Brisbane to within range of Sydney - can visit events such as this without spending a fortune! Thanks Dave for sharing this with us.

As usual a fantastic Episode. Loads of nice equipment.
But... you really need to build a small steadycam, and probably do manual focus too. Apart from that... perfect.

Amazing also how the 'next-gen' are impolite without much reason at all.

would have better things to comment about.
