  • when did we celebrate kwanzaa in ancient times??? kwanzaa was a holiday given 2 us by Europeans just like any other holidays. we need to study what our ancestors did to celebrate or @ least come up with something by ourselves and not have someone else tell us when or how...hotep

  • @2009thetwinz

When we come up with something for ourselves people like you say EUROPEANS gave it to us, like you are saying with Kwanzaa. Who gave us Kwanzaa specifically? Do you know? I would love to see who you say it was? Have YOU studied what our ancestors did to celebrate? No? Well what good is your comment. The Black man that created Kwanzaa DID study our African ancestors and developed Kwanzaa from African PRINCIPLES and precepts.

  • @RevolutionaryINK I posed the 1st question 2 u...they may have used a black man as a frontman for creating this holiday,to have you 2 believe that black's created this and its going 2 b accept as a christmas for black people. but again in order for it 2 be made a "national holiday" some European had 2 be apart of its creation b4 it was stampd for approval. you should know this brother wit all the knowledge you have. NAACP was supposed 2 b started by blacks, its not....Europeans started it...

  • @2009thetwinz pt.2

Also, when you take something from our people like CHRISTMAS, you must already be prepared to GIVE them something to resonate with or else they will not vibe with your vision for Black/African progression. Hotep Family.

  • @RevolutionaryINK If our people knew the real history of Jesus then our people wouldn't need CHRISTMAS, again another European holiday created for greed and confusion. How about teaching our people where the roots of these holidaze come from. Bro TEF has a great video about the orgins of these so called holidays. I have nothing against the concept of Kwanzaa b/c we need 2 embrace our culture. Teach our people that the story christmas was stolen story about horus, do they teach that on kwanzaa?

  • @2009thetwinz Kwaanza means "First" in Kiswahili. In African culture the 1st harvest of a crop was celebrated to mark the occasion from which Kwaanza is borrowed. So, yes, Kwaanza was celebrated and still is in some parts of Africa. This festival was put together by Dr Maulana Karenga after doing some extensive studies of African culture. His study was aimed at giving African Americans a sense of cohesion centrered around a festival which was derived from African culture.

  • Yeah I remember that! Being called an African booty scratched smh Teach the children don't depend on the school system.

  • great video...check out my channel and video....help support kwanzaa

  • Every Black person that raves about movies like "For Colored Girls" should see this...

  • Africans must know how to follow our own practices.

Africans should teach about our realities and our natural beliefs and wisdom.

Africans have a beautiful life structure which is about us and these demonic racists are assholes in the making and also watch these thickal so-called white wantabee negroes who echo the shitted farted acts of white supremancy and Westernized racist attacks against us.

  • Two sets of notes- so interesting!

  • *Singing* I love my people! I love my people!

O Gracious Mama Africa...as your daughter, I will NEVER allow nothing and no one to cut MY genetic and spiritual ties to you!

    I celebrate and honor BLACKNESS.

    Ase!

  • Ashe!

    Indeed Beloved!

  • I'm going to try to do a screening in NYC. If anyone would like to help with planning and promoting please contact me. It's important that we understand our history and take pride in it. Hopefully this film along with a discussion will make individuals want to pick up a book and discovery self.

  • did you go on the website ? there is a viewing in Harlem December 29th

  • I really liked this.

  • No matter who you are, you should celebrate all the wonderful things about yourself and your community. Alot of people of African decent in the U.S. are taught to either to hate themselves or to love themselves and hate others, it seems. Some of the most wonderful people I've ever met are the people that know that who they are is beautiful and wonderful while still seeing the good in who everyone else is.

I'm sorry (fo real!) to have to say this: In your minds your American. I'm going to use an ugly word: 'schytzo'. I know the lot of my peeps are; Cape Verde Isles.

If this video is intended to 'shake' fam out of that reactionary thinking, OK.

But what good is a holyday when locked behind enemy lines?

Terra is our home. There is a war going on.

    JayJBee

"Waged on her and us, the Terra-ists.

  • Even in times of War, Warriors need to take time out to, "rejoice", "reflect", "Re-affirm purpose" and then "Re-charge" to maintain their sanity. The reason for Recognizing this Celebration is to remind us what we are truly fighting for.

Other wise we will allow the same hatred that accosted us, to take over our OWN souls, and hence becoming that which we despise.

    Peace Bruh.

  • Our minds were and still are too powerful for "The Man" They had to delute us down to their level.

  • That's real talk brotha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No it ain't.

    'Them', 'they'...

    Us Africans must recognise.

But what then does lanier2 mean with 'I look just like...'

'Yet they volunteer to come to this place'...

Do like Congo P: Talk about what you have knowledge of or ASK.

  • nice job... great film... necessary information for Afrikans in Amerikkka... culture = freedom

  • We need every bit of self made media to counteract the the destructive influence of the crack years and the war on black ppl by the federal govt that they call the drug war. It's time for our own media rebellion and insurrection. To change a mindset of a ppl you need to control mass multimedia.

  • The thing we must realize is that just because an individual was born on the continent of Africa, that doesn't make them any more righteous than Us over here. On both sides of the water we have been assaulted Physically and mentally. There are just as many ignorant Continental African's as there are ignorant Africans in Amercan (meaning us).

  • It is funny that those people turn up their noses at you, yet they volunteered to come to this place. I love all my people, but we do have to realize that we were divided and trained to maintain that divide, ourselves. Now the oppressor doesn't have to divide us anymore,..we do a good enough job of that ourselves. But hold ya head up tho,...it's gonna get better in a minute.

  • i hate to say it and no disrespect meant, but but this offers nothing new. i've had my fill of these kinds of documentaries. we need full length docs on black business owners. the school system doesn't teach chinese history in US schools either yet many of those people are striving. They strive because they don't expect America to do for them what they can do for themselves. Without action these documentaries become abstract. But that's my 2 cents.

  • Here's the Thing, black Business Docs ARE definatly needed, however, Documentaries like this are nessisary to show Black people that it is O.K. to step away form embracing Holidays of the people who oppressed them and take time out to celebrate our own holidays and cultures. Congratulations if you have had your fill of "these kinds of documentaries", but the truth is most people haven't seen many and our children have rarly if ever been exposed to them.

  • They wont show these documentaries in schools and today's parents are to busy focus on this type of HOME EDUCATION. Much of that is due to their un-dieing lust for success in that business world you speak off. That isn't a knock against the parents trying to "GET MONEY",...That is just the nature of the society we live in, parents FORCED to neglect thier kids in some shape or form. ie. babysitters raising our kids 9 hours a day,...

  • as far as your comment ,.. "Without action these documentaries become abstract." Well this one is about implimenting a new family tradition so the only people that can be blamed for the INACTIVITY is the parents themselves or the veiwer themselves. so if you feel there is to much in-activity then it may because YOU haven't started GETTING ACTIVE yet. No Offense. That responsibility lies on all of our shoulders,... So what are your solutions?

  • understood

  • you make a comparison to the chinese, but it can't apply to africans in america and those who were colonized thru out the world, colonized being the key word here. when and I am asking this as a student were the chinese as a people colonized by FOREIGN invaders?

  • Are we colonized now? Many of us have been programmed to believe that we're still more a victim than a victor. We must believe victory first and then the results will manifest. There are Africans and West Indians who are coming off the boat on a mission. Why can't African Americans do the same. What is stopping us but ourselves? And don't say it's racism becuase it is not. Racism is very much alive but it is NOT the African American's worse enemy.

  • What is our worst enemy? US? That is what they want you to beleive. You left off Whitesuprmacy and you just wrote racism, but they are Two seprate things that are intricatly related.

  • I understand your point, but Racism/Whitesupremacy made us beleive that we are our worst enemy, now we only attack each other and are distracted from the real forces whose goal is to keep us fighting each other. Our people actually think The system has our back now and our enemy is each other. Check my latest video series: "Black Man :Vs: Black Woman : "The Method behind the MADNESS"

  • "If you don't understand the System of Racism/white supremacy, what it is, and exaclty how it works, everything you think you understand will only confuse you."

That is why people keep asking "How are we gonna change our condition?" ...and coming up with no answers.

The recent Africans coming off the boats these days are excelling but their plight here is TOTALLY diffrent and they chose to come here, not under the osposis of slavery. Let's be real.

  • @RevolutionaryINK

My brother, Africans must learn to accept what we are and not what we aren't.

As an African male, I am so proud to be bless to learn about how we have been achievers in our own right as lawyers, builders, doctors, professors, farmers etc.

We have suffered, but we shouldn't afraid nor lose any hope at all.

Africa is the birth of roots, mankind, arts, maths and life and energy.

  • Your worst enemy and your best friend is the person you look at in the mirror every day. And that goes for all of us. Yes, racism and white supremecy may be barriers but you and I decide whether these barriers will keep us from striving. We need to call for black accountability. Unless we do that we will continue to walk on psychological crutches instead of mobilize. The seed of change is NOT within the end of racism or white supremecy. It's within every one of us, brothers and sisters.

  • Oh trust me I dont encourage people to Look for some Magical end of racsism. But to solve a problem you MUST diagnos ALL aspects and variables of that problem. Simply addressing one side of the equation will bring you to a DEAD end every time. I think we see eye to eye on the issue. The point is many people don't see any of the factors, or THE REASONS FOR that black un-accoutablity. They think WE are just messed up and they have no clue as to why.

  • Blacks were not always un-accoutable for their actions or irresponsible. The fact is there are "factors" that breed those charector flaws in us. And we still today subscribe a society whose "ways" are the ROOT cause. It is not enought to just say BLACK PEOPLE be RESPONSIBLE. You must teach them why we became the way we are or we wont have the tools to change it.

  • That is like telling a crack head to just quit, with out giving them consuling to FIX the real reasons why they turned to the crack in the first place.

  • In years the lot of those that step off that boat with a mission, are re-programmed to consumers, forgetting the mission. How? Media!

We need a base four our minds to settle.

Terra is our home. Everywhere on the planet is our home. We are the terra-ists that this war is waged on.

For that reason the word 'Africa' still lives in my mind. No more... and no less for sure!

If we are our worst enemy, it is because we are programmed to be so.

    JayJBee

"Racism is our worst enemy and best friend"

  • we are under a curse for Yahuwah. We strayed from him before and this is what we get. Repent my brothas.

  • The video is great, thanks for posting it. That should be taught to the Hebrew Israelites and those theorists/Charlatans (Washitaw) who say they are the real Native American, they need it more than anybody else.

  • Your comments all ways seem to be a distraction or a negative shot at some one. What is your motive behind your constant negativity? You aren't helping our situation at all. And speaking negatively about the Washitaw, once again you have touched on a PERSONAL subject you have absolutly no clue about. Stick to your European and congo related issues, P.

  • ... yeah. Let's devide by concoring what we seek. Not what we find... sad.

    JayJBee

"Something about that last sentence I don't like..."

  • Mine or his? As far as mine, Congo P claims to be from the Congo, and much of what he talks about on youtube is about the Congo and the issues there. Which is cool, but it seems as tho that is the only topic he has even a remote understanding of. So he should stick to topics that he is WELL INFORMED about and leave his "opinions" about FACTS to he can't accept, to himself. I know you feel me.

  • His and your issues are my issues.

Maybe you already did so, but I'd love to see a brother react with knowledge. And patience.

Each time a brother bursts out in BS, that is a chance do clear out the crap.

    JayJBee

"At least for eyes and ears that will look and listen"

  • LOL!PreciseScience has this up too-posting it twice makes it nice! :D

  • Yeah I got it from PreciseScience. I was trying to watch it on that page but the sound was waaay off and it was irratating watching a 9 min video out of sync, so I re-syncronized the sound with the video. Plus I felt that this video and the film maker deserves all the publicity possible.

  • brother ink I was blessed to have 3 teachers in elementary school. Mr. Campbell,Mr. Collymore & Ms. Hazzard..they taught me so much & Mr. Hazzard took it upon herself to teach us black history..they change my life & i'm thankfull for them.. + thank you for being a teacher

    peace

    G

  • You are welcome, brother. It is simple, my agenda that is. I figure nobody is gonna love us, teach us, and raise us up, Like WE can, and somebody has to do it, so why not me? I just had to play my part in not just teaching, but raising these kids that have NO ONE ELSE to care about them. I know you feel me.

    Peace to you brother.
