  • @EPIPHONE82 More people know who Gary Moore is, and they want to sell guitars. I can guarantee that if more people knew about early Fleetwood Mac, Moore’s name wouldn’t be mentioned.

  • @PBANDSNOW fuck off posh boy gary moore the biggest twat in music

  • @yorkshiretractors So, I listen to his music, no one cares about his, or your, opinions.

SO JUST FOR YOU GARY MOORE WAS THE BIGGEST TWAT IN MUSIC HE TRET FANS LIKE SHIT . HE NICKED PETER GREENS LES PAUL AND SOLD IT FOR £2 MILLION AND HE SAID HE WROTE SONGS HE NEVER DID .

  • @yorkshiretractors hahahaha . . bullshit!

  • @yorkshiretractors No were not. We have a better country than America, we don't have rampant gun crime, one of our cities was voted the number one place in the world to live, are political parties don't hate eachother, our people aren't divided on every important issue, we have less polution, and the parties we vote for aren't voted for because of their stand on religion.

    Nice try though,

  • @PBANDSNOW WELL I HAVE BEEN TO Canada AND YES YOUR RIGHT IT IS NICE BUT GARY MOORE WAS STILL THE BIGGEST TWAT IN MUSIC

  • @yorkshiretractors I disagree.

  • @PBANDSNOW WHY IT IS BLACK AND WHITE WHAT A TWAT HE WAS

  • Gary Moore was a Super-human guitarist and put out some KILLER albums, among them,

Corridors of power,Victims of the future. I cant remember that awesome second albums name?? R.I.P Gary

  • how much did gary sell it for?

  • @dunnes $1.300.000

  • Melvyn, give it to Greenie if you're into RnR

  • It WAS Peter Green's guitar, then it WAS Gary Moore's guitar, then it'll be someone's else's guitar...

I just hope it's someone who's plays with the same fire and passion they both did!!! Yeah, ok, give it to me...

  • I got to meet Gary and watch him play this guitar thru 3 Marshall stacks at a

rehearsal studio in Hollywood in 1979....

  • I got to meet Gary and watch him play this guitar thru 3 Marshall stacks in a rehearsal studio in Hollywood with the band G force in 1979.....

  • Some things in this world are just right to do, regardless of all your conventional little-minded 'rules' and regardless of sheer profiteering - Peter wrote and played some of the most important, inspirational and influential music in history on this one guitar, so yes, as others have said, do the right thing...He is still alive and he is still playing, give him back his guitar..God knows he deserves it more than anyone else and it should be where it belongs, with the man himself.

  • @mamaumunga i believe that peter should get his guitar back but he has been offered it and refused he said it "broke his heart"

  • i found out that schecter chandler guitar gary played on wild frontier is on sale for amazing 25 000 $

  • peter green lent his 1959 les paul to gary moore then insisted that gary bought that guitar from him as he knew it would go to a good home

  • i dont know the facts about who got screwed by who over this guitar, but when moore sold it, it was his to sell and not greens(dont go mental, id like to see green play it again)but if moore didnt want to sell it back to him then fair enough, when he sold it to moore it no longer belonged to green, end of.

  • RIP Gary last saw you a few years ago at Sheffield arena appearing with BB King - you were great as ever

  • the guy in the background is just itching his balls off to do smoke on the water. lol.

  • @Gonzoidzz

That made me spit soda out of my nose. lol

  • was surprised at the great condition of the neck, then i remember that is not the original. gary moore broke the original neck in a car crash.

  • Respectfully PLEASE DO NOT HANDLE. This guitar is insured in the high seven figure region.

  • This is most fucked looking 59 ive ever seen

  • 2:36, L.Z.'s Heartbreaker project

  • who's playing SWLABR in the background?

  • truth about the sound,,,,my own experience you dont have to do anything but wire the connections of one of the p/us the opposite of how youd ordinarily wire it,plus vintage p/us especially old gibson humbuckers are very inconsistantly wound I believe for instance if you switch the red and green on a dimzo p/u when paired with another you can get a similar sound when wired with a similar p/u wired correctly, try it

  • guitar pornography

  • I hope that guitar gets played and doesnt sit there like a wallflower

  • lmao that guy who is is playing heartbreakerr sucks

  • I heard the finest music imaginable come out of this guitar on 3 separate occasions in 1968-69 in LA and San Fran. I see now the sunburst is completely gone........

  • It is my belief the neck pick up was not rewound. The unique sound came from the BRIDGE pick up having one of the magnets accidentally being placed in the actual humbucker the wrong way round at point of manufacture giving an out of phase sound. Any one can reverse the way the neck pick up (or bridge pick up for that matter) is set in the guitar body, but it will not give the Peter Green sound.

  • @mark22160 Only half correct. The pickup with the reversed magnet is indeed the neck pickup and not the bridge. The fact that the pickup is installed in the guitar wrong way round is purely cosmetic as you say, but that neck pickup DOES also have the magnet flipped which in fact gives the out of phase sound. The pickups are wired normally and the guitar gets its out of phase sound purely from the flipped magnet.

  • The pickup wasn't rewound it was merely replaced in the guitar the wrong way round , reversing the polarization . You can see that the neck pickup screws should be near the nck and the opposite to the bridge pickup , but they're both fasing the same way

  • @malcolmcjcc - good observation

  • insured "to the high seven figure region"!

  • You should all see my Greco Les Paul Personal M.I.T from the seventies. I'm sure it would kick some balls off of you! I'ts in practically mint condition and got dodays all over it!

  • Such crap!

What's so special whith this Gibson!?????

  • @helluvagun what you mean so special? it probably doesnt differ in technical aspects compared to any other gibson like it, however the fact that it was owned by two guitarists whom created music I'm sure you've heard of, I'd safely say it was 'special'. Peter Green alone was in my opinion the greatest guitarist to have ever graced this earth, and being able to see the instrument he used is a joy, thanks for the upload micawber52

  • @sguggles Special because of the way the neck pickup was "rewounded" here's an extract of the wiki page

"its neck pickup had been accidentally rewound in reverse using Fender-style wire, by a young repairman, Sam Lee, who had never worked on a Gibson humbucker before. The result was a unique out-of-phase tone that could be more nasal or full depending on volume-knob settings."

And I agree that Greene is one heck of a great guitar player!

  • @sguggles It's different, this guitar's neck was "hand made, by a Master Craftsman" who was at the peak of his trade.

  • He turned over the coil, not the magnet...... geez

  • It's my most favorite guitar on the planet, but it sure is UGLY! lol

  • Amazing guitar! I might try the reversed neck pickup one of these days myself. Check out the video titled simply "Gary Moore" to see him playing it.

  • If you just reverse the pickup you won't get the out of phase tone. You gotta open the pickup and flip the magnet. Then you'll have the out of phase sound. Reversing the pickup is just an aesthetic thing :)

  • Yeah, I recently found out about that. I'm going to try to get a pair of pickups from Seymour Duncan to do it. Thanks!

  • Shhhh!!!.. don't tell anyone, but I'm the current owner of that guitar. I stripped away that lousy paint job you see and had it painted pink and black in honor of my hero C.C Deville of Poison. Then I put glow-in-the-dark lightning bolt stickers on it so when you turn off the lights, it looks like lightning bolts are shooting out of the guitar. Cool, huh? I had a real Ace Frehley pickup in it specially wired to smoke, but I had to take it out because it caught fire and damaged alot of the wood.

  • I bet that guitar is now really great for pick slides and well placed tapping licks. It is ASSuring to know such classic instruments are being updated to at least the mid-80's! Maybe you could have Mistress Cleo bless some long dangling things to hang on it! I do hope it's more pink than black, though.HAHA

  • @tomthefunky YOU MUST BE JOKING. this would make the ugliest guitar in the whole world

  • @stefrules1: No, I bought one of the most valuable electric guitars in the entire world and did all of those things to it.

    schmuck

  • peter does not play anymore u dumbies .he lives in london and has not played in years and does not talk to any one.his fingernails are over 2 inches long when we asked him what would you do if mick fleetwood said we are doing an album we really need a guitar solo /he said i just don't want to cut my nails and have not played in so long and have no desire to

  • If he dosen't play anymore who was the dude I seen in concert in Belfast 3 months ago who look like Peter , sounded like Peter and wait for it goes by the name of Peter Green ? He's still doin it man !

  • @12345678941964 > The documentary you are referring to is almost 20 years old. He has been back at it again for the past 12 or 15 years.

  • @12345678941964 > In fact if you look up Santana/ Peter Green You will see them playing BMW together. He still has a two inch thumbnail on his left hand, The rest are cut.

Think twic before you call people who are better informed than you, Dummies!

  • If you really get under the skin of "the facts" I believe that the Munich incident where not only 2 of the Mac received the LSD, but this German Cult also summoned up demons which later plagued Green,

  • this LP was played by Jimi Hendrix though it was strung right-handed, on a new years eve at a Mac gig at the Marquee, London. Jimi played Olde Langsine.

  • Also that this LP once thought cursed by Green, later was involved in a road accident in which the neck was snapped-off and I think this was the accident that Moore sadly received the facial scarring he has.

  • he did the deal , its up to the cat who owns it now to decide whether he should offer it back. ya see if peter was all fucked up at the time then i guess he was taken advantage of i guess its up to the cat that owns it now, be nice to see him play it though

  • MMMMMM! MMMM! Saucy!

  • Peter deserves a little bit more, he should back this beauty...

  • A peace of heaven

  • Peter should have his gibby back man... wrong

  • sie sind aus Gold, sie sind aus Silber, sie sind aus Stein. Götzen dieser Welt

  • O_OU

    Oh...

  • I heard Judas Priest in the background.

  • Green is alive and playing on stage, give him back his guitar

  • i hear he only plays a strat these days.

  • @vdbdg Peter doesn't want it. When Gary was thinking about selling it he spoke with Peter who only asked that Gary give a percentage to his charity.

  • @vdbdg

he seems to prefer to play on stratocasters nowadays, unfortunately

    :-(

  • @vdbdg

It's not his guitar – fact.

  • @vdbdg well, your comment is 1 year old and i'm sure you are better informed since then but I'll say this anyway: if I sell something, it is no longer mine...it belongs to the person it was sold to. simple as that

  • @vdbdg

When I saw The Splinter Group a few years back it was Nigel Watson doing all the playing and Greenie was just sitting there strumming every now and then....

  • @vdbdg he doesn't want it he said so himself he doesn't use les pauls anymore because this one broke his heart. I agree with the sentiment but I think it should be passed on to the next great bluesman were about due one aren't we?

  • @nintendonut100 Unless the next bluesman can afford paying way upwards of $500k to Melvyn Franks, the current owner, it'll just become a museum piece at this point since Gary sold it for a mad price. He sure didn't have much time to enjoy the hefty profit.

  • @vdbdg ah I see the issue then. Still it would be nice wouldn't it? both for the next great young bluesmant o get it and for there to be a next great young bluesman lol

  • @vdbdg He sold it a long time ago when he was playing too... once it's been sold it's been sold!

  • @vdbdg He doesn’t want it back, he considers it “the guitar that broke my heart”.

  • i dont understand why gary moore not hes give the guitar back to green when he was better this make,s me piss of

  • idol adoration?

  • haha you bunch of girls stop hitting eatchother with your handbags haha

  • Take a picture it lasts longer

  • Ahh

  • is that a gold top?

  • No, it is a lemon burst.

  • PG would be disgusted with this crap!

  • Well, it´s just a guit , it´s all up to who´s playin it , right ?

  • Doesn't matter how long you stand there man, you're not gonna get as good as Peter Green just by lookin at it.

  • did they ever take it off any sweet jumps?

  • a sledge hammer... Lucky

  • eh notice the neck pickup is the wrong way round, peter green put it in the wrong way by accident and is what gave him his unique sound..liked it so much he left it...

gary moore is a complete tosspot who isnt fit to touch this beautiful thing........

  • It's just a guitar !

A body is just a shell when you die !

    Think about it !

  • Big deal, you gonna play it or just drool on it?

  • id steal that summa bitch

  • saw gary moore in april what a fucking tosser he is to the fans he can play a bit but he needs to learn how to talk to fans how he dint get twated that night i dont know

  • The story I always heard is that Gary Moore obtained this guitar from Peter by questionable means. Like when Peter was "not in his right mind"

  • There is a Gary Moore Les Paul on Ebay right now.. BIN $295,000..

  • holy shit!

  • Who changed the volume and tone knobs? was it Green or Moore?

  • GRAB IT AND RUUUN!! xD

  • Comment removed

  • I have read alot of comments on youtube , but the comments on this vid are the most uninformed i have seen.

Everyone is an expert on this guitar .

  • Peter Green and Gary Moore! 2 of Britons best!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wooow (drooling)

  • Man this guitar's a beauty... It would be hard for me not to just pick it up and run for the nearest exit.... I'd play it everyday for the rest of my life if I had it rather than just sitting in a case

  • I'd hold the doors open if you let me play it once in a while.

  • You've got yourself a deal

  • What's of more concern is the alledged possibility that a greed driven Moore may have tricked the mentally ill Green out of his prized guitar. ? All unproven of course, but a nice little earner for Moore none the less ! "Oh Greeny, I really love you so much Greeny, ...now hand over the guitar and have another tablet, there's a good chap, and I'll flog it for every penny I can get." Nice one !! A lovely fitting tribute to his "hero " .! WHAT A CHARMING PERSON ! I do hope it's not true

  • So, this is a million dollar guitar, huh? Staggering. I'm suprised Gary let it go. Anyone know how that happened?

  • heard he had money problems

  • zplapplap yea, makes sense. Knew it was to simple to have just reversed the pick up.- Thank-drspalsh60

  • He was the best at his peak,.Gary Moore said that he was approached by Green about his guitar. Peter took some cash and a couple of other guitars. That's from Moore straight up. He did a tribute album to Green "Blues for Greeny", in the liner notes he claims to have used the Les Paul for those songs. What made it special? Green had it cleaned once and the guy cleaning it reversed the pickups. But nobody can match Greens technique from that period.

  • it was more than simply reversing the front pickup. I was also wound incorrectly by a guitar tech inexperienced with Gibson PAF pickups. A perfect mistake as it turned out.

  • Les Pauls are built like a brick wall. They always sound good to the last drop.

  • Imagine just the history behind that guitar

  • This Guitar stands for the respect of a Man's outstanding artistry...it should be back in this Man's hands.

  • I don't think Peter cares anymore; says he prefers single coil pickups now.

  • What did Gary get for it? Anybody know. How do you know it's a wreck, did you play it, I'm sure a good luthier could do a refret and a setup and having top notch in no time. I'll bet I could pick it up as is and wail away. A real guitar player can play killer blues on anything.

  • you talk bullshit!!! if you as good as gary, get on here and show us all????

  • I believe he said he got a bit less than $900,000 over a year ago. He said he used the cash to settle lawsuits filed against him for breach of contract because he was unable to compete playing gigs with a broken hand.

(seems a bit harsh, suing him for a broken hand in my opinion)

I understand he's using the remainder of the money to produce his own shows so he's not a risk again.

(he was interviewed in Vintage Guitar magazine)

  • Lizard said: "I'm sure a good luthier could do a refret and a setup and having top notch in no time. "

    I'm not so sure.

Remember this was a *working* guitar, not an exhibit in a museum.

I understand that the neck had been broken at least once, and that Gary had swapped out many of the 1950s parts with 70s parts. The good news is that most of the repair techs have been VERY careful to not mod the pickup polarity or do anything to alter the tone. Supposedly... again according to Moore.

  • Peter Green tried to buy it back in the 80's Gary would not sell it to him

  • iS THIS THE GUITAR THAT GREEN GAVE AWAY TO SOMEONE IN A LIFT, THEN THE GROUP RETRIEVED IT FROM A PAWN SHOP,?

  • Nah that was another early Les Paul, maybe a 58 do not remember.

    haha good old greenie.

  • At age 21 Peter Green was B. B. King's equal on the guitar. Very impressed.

  • No he wasn't

  • correct. Green was much better. Listen to the Supernatural. Out of King's league.

  • People who think Gary Moore is a great guitarist - Albert King, Peter Green, BB King,

People with no clue as to the circumstances of this sale and insult Moore because of it - Keyboard Warriors.

Hmmm...now which will I listen to?

  • Moore is a fine guitarist. My only regret is that he won't gig in the US. He can play a cigar box guitar and still get a great tone. I'm baffled why he and Watson are the targets of such fan anger

If you listen to Greeny and Moore talk, they're totally cool with each other. Not surprising considering Greeny mentored both Kirwan and Moore.

  • It is what the original colour

    Thank

  • Bloody Bastard....but, the guitar looks alot more worn than Peter Green...I don't know sometimes it's the guy playing it...Gary Moore was close butt no banana...and Peter Green, if you are a true Green God Freak, can be heard in his stuff today...and what's with all the negativity with Watson?

  • Green is God. No one could ever touch him. Not even Moore. Moore completely misses the point when redoing Green's work like "Drifting". Only God can do that one right!

  • To hear this guitar watch Gary Moore and Thin Lizzy playing "Dont Believe A Word" on Whistle Test!Sounds amazing!Peace ye`all!

  • damn straight.

  • bellfartwarts is wrong, Peter Green's Guitar was sold for a profit, to me thats a little bit disrespectful.

  • who owned this guitar b4 peter green then??

i reckon it was gibson th people who made it, so now its not greens guitar, it was moores guitar, now it belongs to the guy who bought it from gary!! so shut the hell up about green!!!! he dont own the guitars of the world!!!!

  • This is not about a guitar, or the all mighty $, it is more than that.

  • He might not own the "guitars of the world", but he is a Man of the World... the reason that this guitar is such a big deal to everyone is because this guitar was GREEN's guitar, it gave his masterful playing a sweet sound to accompany it. He sold it to gary for dirt cheap as a favor, in the 80's green tried to buy it back but gary wouldn't sell it to him. The guitar was then bought by a private collector for $2,000,000. Now, this wonderful slab of mahogany lay lonely on a shelf. WHAT A WASTE!!!

  • Green didn't sell it as a favour - he sold it after he became pretty much sick and tired of the music life he'd been living. Green never tried to buy his guitar back (during much of the 80's he was living as a vagrant. There's a story that Moore & Green played together on stage at a much later date and Green didn't even remember the guitar (from a Gary Moore interview on British TV)

  • Barry Jenkins (Lukes Guitars in Ramsgate, ex-Nashville Teens/Eric Burdons animals etc) told me he went around Peter Greens flat in London in the late 60's and there were all these black guys doing voodoo and all this weird shit with Peter.

No wonder he got so fucked up.

Then some German scumbags ply him with acid.

    Then he meets Nigel Watson.

Then his so-called "freind" Gary Moore sells his guitar for a million dollars.

Jesus!...who needs freinds like that lot!

  • LOL - you heard wrong from a bitter old rocker!

  • oh that guitar? i have it

  • How about the Les Paul that Clapton played on the Beano album that got stolen? Where is that now? somebody ought to come forward and say 'I stole it' I wonder if Eric would pay to have it back? although I bet he didnt even know the serial # to verify its authenticity.

  • towslices....interesting point, you've got me wondering about that now.

  • Yep a guitar of that historical significance could well be the most valuble guitar out there.Somebody is sitting on a goldmine!

  • That guitar was bought by Peter Green in Selmers,Charing cross road in 1966 for I believe something like 200 pounds.

  • My guitar player can kick your guitar players butt...try and play Gary Moores legato climb in "Victims of the Future". Lots of skill to do those runs. Sure,He overplays and his tone is ... large . But to say he sucks or whatever is kinda...stupid, really, and an emotional comment, not a musical one. Grow up kids...

  • The best guitar ever!

  • I don't really know why people slag off Gary Moore. It's quite strange I think, considering he is a brilliant guitarist. Even Peter Green said so himself.

Oh well, I'll guess I'll still enjoy listening to both of them! :D

  • agreed, I mean none of us know the facts do we. I dont remember ever hearing Gary give his side of the story

  • Let's start the 'Give Peter his guitar back campaign', 1st rule of the campaign 'no debate'. If it hadn't have been Peter's it would be worth a damn sight less.

  • Gary Moore snapped off the neck and put 70's parts on it, tut tut. 40 years from now they'll still remember Peter's music.

  • I had my Les Paul modified like Greeny's several years ago - Crazy Tones!

The greatest British blues artist of all time.

  • Ever heard of a guys called Albert King? Or Albert Collins? Or Otis Rush? Or Buddy Guy?

  • there not british (but all very great)

  • I'd grab that guitar and have two double albums done before they grabbed me..
