@terminator96744 isn't that a sd cam, since it records in mpeg-2 it should connect via firewire so you would use log & capture to import the footage from that camera.
@ITECHSTER hey i found out how to do this after alot of searching and just trying things my self and it actually required that i had my imovie 09 manually search for a plugged in storage device and then i found it and made my video thanks for the help though :)
hi! i've got the same camera and i would know what is the best way for export in full quality. i saw some video tutorial and every video says to export a quicktime movie, but at the end the quality isn't good, I think is for the camera! how do u export avchd videos?
I have this same Camcorder. most of the time I take stills they dont come out so good usually blurry, sometimes not to bad. I would think this camera has the porential to take good stills based on the quality of the video. Does anyone know of some settings I might want to change. Thanks
Setting the xv color & gain control will help with better stills plus if you can use a tripod for taking the snap shots that will be much better then free handed cause that is where the blurring tends to happen the most.
lol I meant editable,.. guess you can tell that english is not my first language so I do tend to pronounce some words incorrectly at times. Yet I'm pretty sure it was understandable at least I hope it was.
for some odd reason stupid final cut express doesnt recognize my GZ-HDU JVC CAMCORDER. i did all the steps that were required insert usb cord, play back on pc, open final cut express, log nd transfer, yet still notihing. although iphoto recognize the camcoder but final cut express does not. is it the format within the camcorder in which i am shooting in.
Two things to make sure of,.. when you select playback on pc, make sure that you see the cameras hard show up,. also that you have the latest updates on FCE. I can not confirm if it does work with FCE or not as I no longer use that version but I would assume that it should have worked for you.
Ok, I plug my camera in right, then a thing pops up that says what would you like to do? and it just says play videos, and i have no clue how to get them onto my computer. and i have no clue what program or whatever that is your using.
If your using the same Camera & you plug in it via USB the on screen menu should give you a few options the first one being, Play Back On PC which is what you should select then you can import it via iMovie 09 maybe 08 not so sure on that one, and you can import it via Final Cut Express & Pro which is what I use on the Mac. If your on Windows then you will need to use the install CD your camera came with. I have yet to use it on Windows so I can not say what you could do with it on that.
Hey, i have the same camera, although when I try to insert the CD to my MAC, nothing happens. It seems to me that it cannot read the CD. Like, it appears on the screen, but when i click the startup, nothing happens.
I pulled out my Tiger Disc and installed iMovie 06 HD, and it will not work with the camera as it only will recognize firewire device cameras not usb cameras.
Not sure if you have yet or not. But hook it up by the usb cord first and on your menu screen it should give you the option to Play Back On PC select that, then start up FCE or FCP and it should see it then. If it does not then I'm not sure then as I have not used that model at all.
hey can u tell me how to put a video from my everio GZ-MS230 it wont auto download and i cant find the answer to this problem on any video

@SIM0NER0SSI One of two way if I can export to Apple ProRes 422 via Final Cut Pro or use Clipwrap without the need to re-encode the file it self.

sz42781 2 years ago
this model only has one mode where as the GZ HD30 & GZ HD40 models can record in both:
AVCHD H.264 / Dolby Digital (AC3) 2ch
MPEG-2 TS/ MPEG-1 Audio Layer II

What is the best format settings to export videos for youtube for example.
Supermegarandomvideo 2 years ago
1280x720 h.264 aac audio. Bit rates all depends on your original material, but I usually go with any where of 2000-5000 kbps.

The software CD that it comes with is only for Windows OS, not for the Mac at all.
ITECHSTER 2 years ago
Oh thanks, but how did you manage to import your videos on your mac?
clementluk 2 years ago
Basically Plug/n/Play via the usb cable that is included, since iMovie 09 & both FCP will import the footage over to it's own codec.
You just need to set the camera to playback on PC that way it shows up as removable hard drives on your desktop.

THANKS! just one more question. what if you have IMOVIE HD? will it do the same thing?
