He should have overtaken after the island in my opinion. There wasn't enough room for him to get passed and leave the "cars width" he was meant to give. I've seen a lot worse than this when I've been out and about, but on the other hand he was still in the wrong and shouldn't have been squeezing past without any consideration for you
I too would have let that go. He was far enough away to not have been any danger to you. It was not a good pass but not a bad pass either, definitely not something I would have considered being confrontational over.
@MadMulberry I wouldn't can that a confrontation, he was very calm, just letting the driver know he was being a twat in a nice way, the driver clearly has issues as you can see at the end. Not the worst of passes, but with the drivers obvious attitude, he clearly needed a calm word or two, just letting the prick know he is passing a human (not just a bike) too close.
